Do you think Satan can use a christian to cause another person to sin?

Ive thought about this before and have read the Bible about stumbling blocks etc..i kinda think that Satan can work through a christian (even if they arent consciously aware of it) to cause anothet or tempt another to sin..OR are we not accountable for another ones sin being it might be THIER issue and not yours..

Heres a brief example...i knew this guy for 7 years..platonic friends only..one day he told me i had a seductive spirit and it caused him to have lustful thoughts..i was so HURT since i had done NOTHING in the way i dress..didnt flirt etc..needless to say..it put a wedge in our friendship. I later thought that maybe it was HIM that had the issue in that area of his life and not me personally...i beat myself up for a long time for this

Any thoughts or insight?

Satan can use anything, even from the depths of his depraved imagination and put thoughts into people's head

That's called not taking personal responsibility. It doesn't take satan to do that.
That's the issue I have with people who take to the idea that every sin is a "spirit", it removes personal responsibility. Just how this guy did. He has a personal problem with lust and blamed you, blamed a "spirit of seduction" but didn't blame himself.

Demons only need minimal effort, just planting an idea, the human mind does the rest. And sometimes we do it All on our own.
And its not really satan, just his minions, when it does happen.

Hmmm..thank you for that..kinda like the saying "the devil mafe me do it? Or when i grew up..my brother woukd say "melissa made me do it" lol

Yeah, "The devil made me do it" would be a very good analogy.

I know of many rapists who try to blame their crimes on the victims because "she was just so seductive I couldn't help myself."

Jewel: If you haven't been flirting with him, don't let his accusation get you down.
 
James 1:14&15 ESV

14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

The devil makes me want to do a lot of things... but lusting after someone isn't one of them... strangling someone, yes...especially if they cut me off in traffic..
 
Satan or our fallen nature. It is also a test on how a person's faith is. My Christian friend way back then encouraged me to have sex with my boyfriend. She did with hers, and with some others. It was not from God, because it goes against His word.

It is hard to resist sometimes. I think we all have done things we knew was a sin, but still we did it. And yes, Jewel. Wolves sometimes come in sheep's clothing. The only way to avoid falling is to always be prepared for the Devil's trickery and stay close to God. A brother in Christ told me to surrender my thoughts and mind to Christ. It felt very radical, but it has given me.peace and strength to resist doing things that doesn't honor God.

It is a good topic you raised here, Jewel.

So you knew this guy for 7 years and he finally told you that you had a seductive spirit? Surely something instigated him to say that to you?

Not saying it’s you but it makes me wonder why he’d suggest such thing after 7 years of friendship.

Yeah..im not sure..maybe he struggled being platonic. Not sure but even though weve gone seperate ways in life..we're still friends..he never married

Given that Jesus states firmly, "If one of you causes one of these little ones to stumble..." I would say yes, the enemy can use a Christian to cause another person to sin. Sadly.

However, the case you describe is not like that. The man had issues and wasn't owning responsibility for them.

My thoughts is that the issue was with him.

Depending on his age he probably lost out on a good opportunity to have a relationship.

That seductive spirit thing is possible, Satan could also be tricking the man into thinking you are seducing him. If i was to guess though i was say the man was in the mood, had lustful thoughts and cowardly blamed you

Hello TOMMY with caps locked. Nice to have you on board.

It takes time and wisdom to learn to discern spirits, and it can be abused. Good news is we can rebuke them in the name of Jesus.

So, if the spirit of Jezebel was at work here, it is just to fall on your knees and rebuke it. It is hard and needs a humble heart, but I would take the allegation seriously and pray over it and rebuke every stronghold the devil has on you.
