OSAS is not built on sand as long as you read, memorize and live by the Biblical morals.

but remember that Once Saved here means Saved from the power of sin.

Christians are not yet saved from eternal damnation. We need to face Jesus on the Judgment Day first in order to receive eternal life or become part of the Rapture when Jesus will reign for 1,000 years.

A good Christian might end up like this before Judgment Day:

Ezekiel 18:24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.

He might die both in physical death and second death on the lake of fire as punishment of the Lord.

You just demonstrated that you misunderstand. It's not about must confess "this" list of sins, but don't have to confess "that" list of sins. Rather than focusing on confession of every single sin that we commit as we commit them as an additional requirement to remain cleansed (continuous revolving door of sin - uncleansed/lost again; confess - cleansed/saved all over again) and if we forget a sin we are toast, John has in mind a settled recognition and ongoing acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness. While false teachers/unbelievers say they have no sin "present tense" (vs. 8) or say they have not sinned "past tense" (vs. 10) Christians confess their sins. The term "confess" means to say the same thing about sin as God does, acknowledge His perspective about sin, which is on an ongoing basis.

The Greek word for "repent" is "metanoia" (noun) and "matanoeo" (verb) you see as defined in the Strongs #3340, 3341: to think differently or afterwards, reconsider. After thought, change of mind. This change of mind is on an ongoing basis. So repentance basically means a "change of mind" and the context must determine what is involved in this change of mind. Where salvation is in view, repentance actually precedes saving faith in Christ and is not a totally separate act from faith. It is actually the same coin with two sides. Repentance is on one side, what you change your mind about and faith in Christ is on the positive side, the new direction of this change of mind. *Repentance and faith are two sides of the same experience of receiving Christ.

The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." This is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8), not the essence of repentance (change of mind). Works-salvationists confuse the "fruit of repentance" with the "essence of repentance" (and also do the same thing with faith) and end up teaching salvation by works.

I have heard certain people say, "If you want to be saved, repent of your sins, turn from your sins." If turning from your sins means to stop sinning, then people can only be saved if they stop sinning. And in that case, it is unlikely that anyone will be saved, since we don't know anyone who has ever "completely stopped sinning" yet there are some deceived individuals who teach "sinless perfection" and believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) and are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness (1 John 1:8-10).

Those who have repented/those who are born of God no longer practice sin (1 John 3:9; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21); but instead, practice righteousness (1 John 3:10). The idea of practice is to perform repeatedly or habitually and thus describes repetition or continuous action. This describes the practice of sin in 1 John 3:9 as habitual, as one's lifestyle or bent of life without goal or effort to stop, no repentance, just bring it on.

While I agree with most of what you say, do you beleive that every born again person truly lives out the justification and is able to prove their true repentance.

Surely we are called to show who were are to support/prove our testimony and witness to the world and therefore further the gospel, yet there are many who do not for various reasons and are no less saved.

I would offer in parables the number 1, 10, 100 and 1000 in increments are used a metaphor to represent an unknow as the whole of what ever is in view. 99+1 = 100 all the sheep .

Not 1 will be lost, no one can snatch them from his hand (will)
That’s not what the scripture teaches at all.

  • Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

Why you or anyone would deny what Jesus so plainly taught about His sheep that was lost is just unbiblical and deceptive.

His sheep who become lost must repent in order to be restored back to the Shepherd.

  • likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28

The condition for the sheep not being snatched from the Shepherd is

Hear His voice
Follow Him

Hear His voice means to listen with the intent and motive to do what is heard.

Those of His sheep who listen and do what the Shepherd says, will remain with the Shepherd and follow Him where He leads them.

Those of His sheep who stop listening to do what His voice says, will end up wandering away and becoming lost.

So the Bible clearly teaches that His sheep can indeed become lost.

The only way for a sheep who becomes lost to be reconciled back to the Shepherd, (found) is to repent.

4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of
the them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7

yet there are many who do not for various reasons and are no less saved.
They have stopped hearing the voice of the Shepherd and have become lost.

They must repent, and turn back to the Shepherd to be reconciled to Him and remain in Him.

Those who do not remain in Him will be cast into the fire and burned.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:6

Okay listen up ...Paul never says that salvation can be lost in the letter to the Galatians.
Read these passages:

"9But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?" - Galatians 4:9

"21Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law?" - Galatians 4:21

"30But what does the Scripture say?
“CAST OUT THE BONDWOMAN AND HER SON,
FOR THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE AN HEIR WITH THE SON OF THE FREE WOMAN.”

31So then, brethren, we are not children of a bondwoman, but of the free woman." - Galatians 4:30-31

The Galatians had turned away from justification through faith in Christ and had turned back to the slavery of obeying the law for justification. And Paul warned them, using the law they were turning back to, that a slave of the old covenant way of justification will not be an heir of the promises made to Abraham. Which Paul said in chapter 3 includes the Holy Spirit (the down payment of the inheritance). You lose the Holy Spirit in salvation and all the promises when you turn away from Christ for justification.

Had the Galatians lost their salvation at that moment? No, not yet. We know because 1) Paul has not dusted his feet of them, and 2) he makes his appeal to them as being children of the New Covenant. This shows us they did not instantly lose the inheritance the second they turned back to the law. It shows us God may make an appeal to the former believer to come back to trust in Christ before they are turned over to their decision to abandon justification in Christ for some other way of being justified or no way at all. But what is clear is they will be turned over to that decision if they don't come back when/if God calls them back. You can not stop believing in Christ and still be justified in Christ. Won't happen. You lose the inheritance when you stop believing in Christ. It's right there in Galatians for us in black and white.

Those who built on sand NEVER built on the rock
The Galatians were in fact very saved. Paul affirms this. But they stopped believing in Christ. And he tells them, using the law they have gone back to slavery to for justification, that slaves of the old covenant law will not be heirs of the promises along with the sons of the New Covenant.

What we see in the letter is that the Galatians did not know God intimately. God knew them in salvation but they did not know him yet in a mature knowing way (Galatians 4:9). That's why the word could be so easily uprooted from their hearts. They were like the 2nd type of soil in the Parable of the sower-Luke 8:13. They believe, but the word planted in them is not firmly rooted in them and can be easily torn away. Only 4th type of soil believers in whom the word is deeply and firmly rooted and bearing fruit in perseverance can not be uprooted.

So let's stop telling every new Tom, Dick, and Harry believer in the church that they're saved no matter what. Let's disciple them to the place of maturity where the word can not be uprooted from their hearts. Those are the believers that can not lose their salvation through a return to unbelief.

They get whatever number of chances God in his wisdom and foreknowledge has allotted to them. Just like that is true for the person who never believed who consistently rejects the gospel to point of no longer being allowed to respond. We don't know when and where God is done with the unbeliever or ex-believer. We just know there is a point where he says 'enough, it's over, I'm done'!

Really, actually not at all.

Paul is saying live what in fact you are "a free woman"

The free woman cannot be a bond woman again .... "we are not children of a bondwoman"

Paul no where in this passage state what you have described.

That is what they are supposed to do--repent. Be what God made you, don't go back to the law. Repent while you can.

The free woman cannot be a bond woman again
Uh, Paul plainly said they were enslaving themselves to the law again (Galatians 4:9-10).

.... "we are not children of a bondwoman"
As I said he is still appealing to them on the basis of them being the believers they were before they abandoned their faith in Christ for justification. This shows us it ain't over for them.........yet.

Time to be honest, UG. Paul plainly said they were enslaving themselves to the law and that slaves don't inherit the promises. Plain as day. Time to shake off the lies of 'once saved always saved' and accept the scriptures for what they actually say, not what people have told us they 'really' mean in order to make them fit their preconceived doctrinal constructs.

New age? Its an AGE OLD concept but probably like the rolled up the trends..they just polish the concept up 40+ yrs later and re name it to remarket the same product..might have a slightly different spin to is..:( " new and improved as society dictates")

Interesting you said that.
We can find nothing published about OSAS prior to the 1960's era. If you know of any teaching, publication, writings, verbal mention or any other prior to the 1960's please give us a heads up. I am leading a study on that point.
Thanks.

We are reminded that G-d has a judgement plan when we leave this earth. That is to determine if we meet His criteria for eternal salvation. He makes the final judgment declaring us ...saved.
Once entered, our salvation is permanent...never to be lost.

The security and assurance of the believer is the gospel and there is no good news without it, because you rely on your ability to

believe/trust whatever word you want to use, you read scripture with the spirit of condemnation which is the direct result of your

denial that we are secure in Him.

Jesus asks for one act of trust and belief in His saving work (see his talk with Nicodemus) in essence your denial of this makes Jesus a liar.

Most of Paul's, James and John writings' are about how to live the profitable Christian life, not about how to keep your salvation.

Salvation is fait accompli.... you need to let God be God.

Some people just can't hear it.

You will say then, The [natural] branches were broken off that I might be grafted in. Well! For unbelief they were broken off. And you stand by faith. Do not be highminded, but fear, for if GOD did not spare the natural branches, lest somehow he will not spare you. Romans 11:19-21

Here is Paul talking about his problem living with the law of sin living in him. This is something we all face.

Romans 7 AMPC
14 We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am a creature of the flesh [carnal, unspiritual], having been sold into slavery under [the control of] sin.
15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [which my moral instinct condemns].
16 Now if I do [habitually] what is contrary to my desire, [that means that] I acknowledge and agree that the Law is good (morally excellent) and that I take sides with it.
17 However, it is no longer I who do the deed, but the sin [principle] which is at home in me and has possession of me.
18 For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]
19 For I fail to practice the good deeds I desire to do, but the evil deeds that I do not desire to do are what I am [ever] doing.
20 Now if I do what I do not desire to do, it is no longer I doing it [it is not myself that acts], but the sin [principle] which dwells within me [fixed and operating in my soul].
21 So I find it to be a law (rule of action of my being) that when I want to do what is right and good, evil is ever present with me and I am subject to its insistent demands.
22 For I endorse and delight in the Law of God in my inmost self [with my new nature].
23 But I discern in my bodily members [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh] a different law (rule of action) at war against the law of my mind (my reason) and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that dwells in my bodily organs [in the sensitive appetites and wills of the flesh].
24 O unhappy and pitiable and wretched man that I am! Who will release and deliver me from [the shackles of] this body of death?
25 O thank God! [He will!] through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One) our Lord! So then indeed I, of myself with the mind and heart, serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Not per The Bible.
That is a sad commentary knowing G-d's commandments and intent of His word. Plus scriptures says..."road is narrow and few will find the way"....an Ominous warning.
