(Deu 7:6 KJV) For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

(Deu 7:7 KJV) The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

(Deu 7:8 KJV) But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh King of Egypt.

(Deu 7:9 KJV) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

(Deu 7:11 KJV) Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.

(Deu 7:12 KJV) Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he swore unto thy fathers:

(Deu 7:13 KJV) And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kin, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

(Lev 19:34 KJV) But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God

They were chosen to show us the way, to show us how to treat the stranger, how to be compassionate and loving to your neighbor and by doing so peace would envelope the world.

The question of the day is; have they followed His commandments?

Hi Mark, and welcome. I can't see that you've done anything wrong, so don't worry about that.

People take a while to respond, unless you're addressing one of their hot-button issues. Have patience. :)

Yours is an interesting question. I believe you have provided the answer to your own question. Also look at Deuteronomy 10:15, 14:2 and 21:5. You might find useful the site biblegateway.org which enables searching on any text in any of 40 English versions.

God's chosen people are stiff necked people. I believe that he had to make himself known, and Abraham was the one he chose to go through. They really haven't shown us the way, because they didn't even believe that Jesus was the messiah. So God said he would use the gentiles to make them jealous. So now we all can become apart of the body of Christ, because everyone can be grafted in.

Israel is chosen like Jesus is God's chosen son (Luke 9:35) in all modern translations. (King James has beloved son).
Chosen is the biblical definition of firstborn.

Israel was chosen because there was nothing remarkable about them. They were but a small nation among the nations. God does not choose the mighty because they are mighty. God chooses the weak that His strength might be perfected in their weakness.

Israel was chosen to take the word of God to the nations roundabout them. When Israel was obedient they were blessed. When Israel disobeyed they were judged by God. This was made evident to the nations.

God did not choose Israel because they were special. God choose Israel to show the God is merciful and loves with an unchanging love.

God’s Chosen People
I have a personal attachment to the Old Testament and the verses contained therein. This includes the verses where the Lord talked directly to the Israelite people. In this one-way discussion the Lord laid out directives (commandments) for them to follow and the blessing they would get if they followed His suggestions. I took these directives and compared them to historical events and found them lacking. Personally, I would like to see the Israeli people change their ways by embracing the stranger (Palestinian) and treat them as one of their own, just as the Lord instructed them to do. I truly believe this “example” would create a wave of peace across the middle east.

In closing I want the Israeli’s to embrace the Palestinians as one of their own, dismantle the illegal settlements and change the name of their country from “Israel” to “Palestine”.

I believe God is now judging them for the last time. If they do not ask God for forgiveness and repent for their past deeds; then all will be lost.
I need your help either by helping me or by correction my misguided view of them.
Any suggestions or comments is welcome whether pro or con.

What do you mean by "nations"-?

(Ezek 36:17 KJV) Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their ..own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
(Ezek 36:18 KJV) Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it.
(Ezek 36:22 KJV) Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.
(Ezek 36:24 KJV) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
(Ezek 36:31 KJV) Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
(Ezek 36:32 KJV) Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
Ezekiel 21:32 (ASV) Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

Then I came across this----------------
“I have never before watched soldiers entice children like mice into a trap and murder them for sport."

The Jews where chosen i believe to be an example to humanity, to be a conduit for the LORD to deliver His will to the world.. Being chosen was not because they where special in any way.. They became special for a time because they where chosen.. But once God had finished revealing His will for humanity through them their special status was removed and now they are equal to all other nations on earth in regard to their personal responces to that revealed will of God..

So you think the Palestinians want to be accepted and peace. You are mistaken as can be. They want all the land back and the Israelis driven into the sea or killed. They like to play the underdog, but do not trust them. They are evil to the core. It is the same song all the Arabs chime. Away with Israel.

God has revealed in the Book of Revelation that He will redeem a remnant of the decendants of Israel.. 12,000 innocents from each of the 12 tribes.. so a total of 144,000 .. So what ever end times judgements the LORD will allow to befall these people He will protect and preserve that remant..

You say you have a personal attachment to the OLD Testament.. There is a foreshadowing of the end times Revealtion event contained within the OT in the story of the exodus when the Hebrews first made it to the borders of the promised land.. In the story Moses sent in scouts into the promised land to bring back a report of it.. Two witnesses came back and gave a good report of the promised land.. This is a foreshadow of the final two witnesses in the Book of Revelation who's message of the promised kingdom of God will also be rejected...

So in the OT account God forced the Hebrews to wander the desert for 40 years to allow the people who had rebelled and rejected the good report of the two witnesses to grow old and die so that they could never enter the promised land.. The people did lament that their little ones at the time of the rebellion where innocent and were being punished unjustly by God.. Gods response was to declare that the little ones who knew no good or evil at the time of the rebellion would be preserved and at the end of the 40 years they would be allowed to go into the promised land and inherit it.. This also aligns with the 144,000 innocents who God will redeem in the end times 12,000 from each tribe of Israel..

As for the current political Israel / Palestine situation... The Palestinians are not interested in sharing and living in peace with the Jews of Israel.. So any concessions by the Jews in Israel will not bring peace.. The muslims are not interested in sharing Jerusalem with Jews or Christians.. The muuslims are only interested in total control of Jerusalem and any negotiation will just be a deception to gain an advantage to help them in their struggle to take full control of Jerusalem..

God made it clear on to OT that in the end times Jerusalem would become a burdensome stone and that all the peoples who burden themselves with Jerusalem would be cut to pieces because of it::

Zechariah 12: KJV

3 "¶ And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."

So the Zionists will be cut in pieces because they burden themselves with Jerusalem, The Palistinians will be cut in pieces because of the same reason and any other people who align themselves with either side and go to fight for the city of Jerusalem will be cut to pieces because of it.. So i believe all Christians should leave Jerusalem well enough alone and we should not join in any struggle for the control of that city.. We should await the second comming of the LORD Jesus Christ and allow Him,, the only rightious King of Kings of Jerusalem to take it.. Because it is only in His hands that it shall be peace and a blessing to all nations..

When the gathering os the true Israel occurs it will include those heirs who have been adopted.

The Israel since 1947 has nothing to do with the Israel headed by New Jerusalem for it is only some of thoe who make up God's Israel. The Israel of this age is peopled by various sects under the umbrella of what is called Judaism, something that kdid not exist until after the first Israelw ith all its twelve tribes.

In the coming gathering os Israel to our Father's Israel will be all who are saved, not a political body with the sole aim and purpose of fulfilling prophecy.

Do not forget God's physical promises to Abraham. God promised the Holy Land to physical Israel upon His return to earth. God is not slack.

Bear in mind, the true Israel of God today is scattered around this tired old world awaiting that last trump and shout..........Surely Jesus, Yeshua, is returning soon, amen.

I do look to the New Jerusalem.

I don't see God choosing a nation. What I see is God keeping a promise to a childless couple. Who's offspring became a nation. Just as he promised. In fact he promised it to a pagan worshipping couple in the heart of idolatry land.
Showing that he was and is the true living God.
That my friends you can't erase from history. Which gives me hope and encouragement that this Hebrew God is for real...that by what my Jewish friends have gone through and are today must have a all powerful God who loves them.

The question of the day is; have they followed His commandments?
The short answers is "No". But Israel is a good example of the fallacy of Calvinistic *unconditional election". Since this nation was elected as a special group of people to bring the Messiah into the world (along with the Scriptures), they all should have been elected and saved. But Scripture shows us that the majority rejected their Messiah. Which means that God does not elect some for salvation and others for damnation. However, there will be a believing remnant saved by grace through faith at the second coming of Christ.
