With a good conscience in the watchful eye of our Father I bid dall a good and peace-filled Sabbath.
I've wondered about the practice of wishing a special Sabbath blessing.

As Christians, don't we wish peace and well-being to all people everyday? Today is the day of salvation and that is true every day of the week!

The practice of shabbat shalom, is that something commanded in the law? Or is it a later Jewish tradition?

If they knew, they ought to have come forth and accused, yes?

So there were very likely Witnesses who ought to have done the right thing, and David ought to have been stoned. And Bathsheba to, depending on how you read the law.
There is also a law about looking on the nakedness of your father. And judging the King that God placed over you. Have you not read how David treated King Saul? If the people actually believed in God they would know #1. God sees what is happening without their help, and #2. God is capable of correcting the King He placed over them.

And their Faith in God was proven correct and righteous in both points.

At any rate, Karraster is correct, there was no man who brought an accusation against the King, not even Uriah who would most certainly have known. This is called "Faith and love for God and humility", Even unto death. You call this "Wrong". Of course you do.

Good for you Karraster for knowing this truth and understanding it. Don't let anyone turn you away from the Love of God.

And Dan, you accuse those people who didn't bring an accusation against the King as doing the wrong thing.

I hope God doesn't show you the same Mercy you have shown David.

The Sabbath of the Lord is now a gift to al who know to receive it. It is a privilege.....

I would never think of my Father's gift to all as a command. It is a promise.

Influencing people to reject God's Word is not what I would consider wishing them peace and well being on any day or regarding any of God's 10 Commandments. And God's Holy Sabbath is Special, at least according to HIM.

As the scriptures teach. "Today if you hear His Voice, harden not your hearts." No matter what the arguments against keeping God's Sabbath Holy are, it is most certainly the Christ's Voice which says to honor Him by observing it.

Is. 58:
13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD which proceeds from the "mouth of the Lord"

"Today if you hear His Voice, harden not your hearts."

When a person comes to Christ to receive Rest they get Peace too.

The Peace that passes all understanding.

Those that practice the "jewish" traditions don't know that the Lord Jesus has fulfilled them. They keep telling each other to rest and be at peace but still don't know where it comes from, thinking they get it by their work at the law on Saturdays...

Shabbat Shalom, Hallelujah.

Rest and Peace, Thank you Lord Jesus for Saving us and all that entails.

Lots of great points in your post there. As I'm on my cell phone, I'll start with the first one.

The idea of being present in the room when the actual adultery is taking place is what I was asking about. Do people who favor a law keeping approach say that a witness for adultery has to actually be present during the actual Act?

I totally agree! It's not a matter of rejecting God's Commandments, it's keeping them as he instructs!

Shalom means much more than peace, it also is well-being, health, and much more. So It is a love based greeting to all who believe the Father.

I certainly hope you are not offended by Jews? Yohould readi in depth Paul's discourse on who is the true Jew.

This conversation started with Karraster pointing out that there were no "witnesses" against David. I posted the meaning for the word "witness" as it is used in the Law. It means to accuse someone, not merely see something.

You continue to judge David after the Christ has already suffered and shed His Blood to forgive Him. You do this to cover for your own religious traditions which transgress God's Commandments. God knew this would happen so His punishment for David was even worse because He knew you would continue to use this sin of David to promote your religious traditions, namely, the partial or total rejection of God's Sabbath.

This isn't about someone seeing the King God appointed do something against the Commands of God, this is about bringing an accusation against the Lord's Anointed. And David was a great King. Not a murderer, liar and rapist as you and Post preach.

So you should study the Word "witness" as it is used in the Hebrew to understand it's meaning in context, then you will understand why Karraster correctly said there were no witnesses against David, and rightly so.

You are a witness against David, and so is Post. So in the resurrection you and Post can go before God and make your case that David and Bathsheba "ought to be" stoned to death. In the meantime I think it would be wise of you were to stop bringing accusations against the Lord's anointed.

As the Great Lord of the Sabbath taught. "Salvation is of the Jews".

Yes, this is what the religions of the land teach, no doubt about it. But the Great God of Abraham who created His Holy Sabbath for man was not a Jew. Therefore it is a falsehood, IMO, to preach that God's Holy Sabbath is a Jewish tradition. And I don't believe the Christ observed worthless Jewish Traditions. At least the Christ of the Bible.

Is. 58:
13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord".

It seems important to the God of the Bible.

Again, the Law calls for 2 or more witnesses to come forth and testify against any supposed lawbreaker before the death penalty can be implemented. If found guilty, the accusers must then actually cast the first stone. None of this happened in King David's case. None of it.

The LORD knew, HIs eyes are everywhere.(Proverbs 15:3) He got the message to King David thru the prophet, and David confessed with remorse, however, he was punished. Why? Look it up it may mean more to you that way.

Now if there had been witnesses, they failed to come forth and that is on them. (Personally, we have scriptural reasons to think not to "touch God's anointed" think David with Saul account.) However, this was not Almighty setting aside His perfect Law showing favoritism. As it stands, is a very good lesson for us all, don't you think?

Studyman has rightly said, there is no greater punishment in this life than to have your child taken! Make no mistake, this child was never meant to appease God. Heaven forbid. As mentioned in the Word numerous times, it has never been in the mind of Almighty to desire human sacrifices. Look it up. And also~ what it means, "the LORD Himself will provide a Lamb".

I just thought it was interesting that study man liked your post basically wishing shabbat shalom, yet I thought he was very much against later human traditions.

I believe I said that according to the law, David ought to have been stoned.

Of course, according to Christ he is Forgiven and spotless.

I'm still not clear on whether you think a witness for adultery must be present during the ACT, that they have to actually see it happen.

To be a legitimate witness of adultery, according to your understanding of the law, does the person have to actually see it happen?

In David's case, let's assume that meant that the only person who could act as a witness would have been another person actually in the bedroom when David actually begin having sex with Bathsheba.

Would that have been required to be a witness of the adultery?

In a way I think there are witnesses against a king and all us in that Jesus came and was crucified for him and us. So God doesn't need our help he knew that the first born of all creation is our saviour and afterwards David and us were born. His judgment of us all was salvation and we are witnesses of it instead.
