One can have free will and still believe in eternal life, it is wrong to think otherwise.
I know that debate, thats another topic!

I believe what I believe!

I like @GodsGrace101 for being consistent with her view. IF you can will your way in, you should be able to will your way out.

I believe in PREDESTINATION. Thats all i will say on that. We can debate that in another thread, we havent had one of those in a while!

Eternal life being lost or not lost

How can one read that and not see how that sounds

How can something eternal stop being eternal?
EG
You're not getting eternal life till you die.
You're not dead yet.

You only have eternal life IN JESUS.
If a person stops believing in Jesus ,,, he is no longer IN JESUS and he will not see eternal life at the end.

Paul said this:

Romans 8:24-25
24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Jesus said it like this:

John 15:5-6
5“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
6“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

If we abide in Jesus we are IN JESUS.
If we do NOT abide in Jesus we are like the branches that are thrown away, dry up, gathered, and burned.

I believe in predestination

I also believe in free will

To say they can not be held together is just wrong,

And you do not just walk your way in, you are brought in, and given the right by recieving christ, not by walking in.

So no she is wrong

Well one does not "will" there way in, that is why that school of thought does not work.

I'M READY!!!!

We have the sin nature but are not totally depraved.
God wants ALL to be saved.
Jesus died for ALL. (who will accept Him)
We are not forced to accept God's grace.

1 John 5:13-15
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John 15
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

there are two sorts of brances here

branches that bare fruit

"every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit"
"He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit"

and branches that do not bare fruit

"If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned"
"As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself"

this is largely an example of the power of CHRIST in His own

compared to the lack of power in fakers

dont you understand when this is being said?

what judas already did and what was about to happen?

but this has NOTHING to do with the loss of salvation to a saved believer

and MUCH to do with two separate types of men in the same congregation of "believers" (in Him)

LOL! I like you . . . You admit you are too lazy to read back . . . . Nah, you are not lazy: you are just afraid you will not find that said that I said there was a verse where someone had eternal life and lost it!

You are asking what I "believe"? That is not the point in this discussion! The point of this discussion is what does Scripture say about eternal life being able to be lost or not be lost.

My "belief" or your "belief" is not the starting point. Scripture is the starting point. The contention has been made that "eternal life" cannot be lost and that God cannot/will not take it back, etc. I maintain that if that is correct theology, then there should be a verse that clearly states it as such.
"I maintain that if that is correct theology, then there should be a verse that clearly states it as such"

Once we know Jesus and how much we depend upon Him, of course we could be foolish enough to walk away.
I wonder that those who are so "spiritual" do not know this, unless they in truth have yet to meet Him.
And if they have not met Him, upon what basis do they speak? Do they listen and follow, have they the marks of faith?

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 3:11

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test?

branches that bare fruit

"every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit"
"He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit"

Very good. Agreed.
The Father prunes the branches that bring forth little fruit so they they may bring forth more fruit.
What does this tell you? The Father REQUIRES that you bring forth fruit. I know you hate that word,,,but why else would Father prune but to get more fruit....it clearly states this.

and branches that do not bare fruit

"If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned"
"As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself"

this is largely an example of the power of CHRIST in His own

No my dear young friend. Do not be misled by anyone. Read the verses on your own and comprehend them. There is only ONE VINE. Jesus.

There are two types of branches.
Those that are pruned by Father and bring forth much fruit...

And those above that do NOT bring forth fruit.
What happens to them?
They are CUT OFF, THEY DRY OUT, THEY ARE BURNED.

compared to the lack of power in fakers

dont you understand when this is being said?

NNM,,,,If being CUT OFF, DRIED UP, AND BURNED...
Does not represent being lost, having lost your salvation because you DID NOT bear fruit...
then I don't know what would in your mind.

and MUCH to do with two separate types of men in the same congregation of "believers" (in Him)

WHOA!

This scripture is proof positive that salvation can be lost and you use it to prove one cannot??????

I give up NNM.

You need to stop worrying about the greek and start knowing English.
Go check out what I highlighted in red and tell me what you THINK it means....

God does not force people
I can only gather you can not comprehend that because you have never experienced christ
Those who have, would never desire to even think of thinking they do not need saved and walk away from what saves them.
Thats why the bible says those who walk away were never saved.
Amen. When you know Jesus, how could one walk away?
But that does not mean one cannot. And to state this ability is not to deny Jesus.

You are so close to seeing the truth, it can set you free.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Oh ye of little faith

1. John says we have it right now.

1 John 5:13
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Where does it come from

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

What is our hope?

Titus 1:2
in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,

Titus 3:7
that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Conclusion

1. We have eternal life
2 our faith in god is based on this FACT
3, if we do not have it, we have no hope. Thus have no faith, and are left hopeless
