This is funny. Telling Angela that she needs to study scriptures is like telling a fish that it needs to swim.
Then be a social dogooder and tell her to display it....because it is absent so far.

You're getting funnier by the hour.

You started this thread by asking oblique questions. Several people have asked for clarification as to what you mean and/or are seeking. You have not provided it. Instead, you have provided hints, whispers, suggestions, and innuendo about the nature of certain Bible translations. Now, despite repeated challenges, all you can manage is snarky responses.

Here's how to proceed appropriately: State your assertions clearly. Present the evidence that you have for your assertions. Answer direct questions asked of you. Demonstrate to the rest of this community that you have the integrity to warrant further response to your thread(s). Stop insulting people who don't wholeheartedly embrace your poorly-stated position.

Until you clarify your position, I don't see any need to waste further time responding to you.

"But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God. 5 They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these." 2 Tim 3:1-5

Wonderful passage. Back in 1982, I was leading a teen Bible study, when I was still a Pentecostal, and pretending to be a dispie, which I was very uncomfortable with, but didn't know anything about any other views, and that was what was being preached in my church.

Both the teens and I were astonished at this passage. The teens were the ones who said to me, "this is today!" And none of them were following God, either!

So 37 years ago! Oops! Hasn't happened yet! In the 1950's I heard people talking about this, in church. I was very young, but I remember talking about Jesus coming back soon. It scared me, at age 6, because no one told me the plan of salvation. The gospel was preached, but what 5 year old understands King James English? (Another reason for churches to use modern Bibles, so people, including children, actually understand the gospel!)

So, call that 60 years ago. Then, you can read about the history of the church. The Puritans in England, they replaced the corrupt RCC church, then became legalistic, because every single warning in those verses was happening.

Or go back to the Crusades. What were they about? Securing Jerusalem, so Jesus could return, because it was a millennium since Jesus died. (Like Jesus couldn't have secured it on its own?)

Of course, this verse was used, because people were not following the RCC. Kind of ironical, because the RCC had a lot of power. And lost it.

You can go back to the time of the early church, including when Paul wrote this letter to Timothy, because, things were looking pretty dark. The Thessalonians church thought this proved Jesus was coming soon. So Paul had to write them, to reassure them, they had not missed the return of Jesus!

Here is a longer chart, which goes through many people in Christian history who thought their time was when Jesus would return. They were not right, and despite what the thought was a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictions_and_claims_for_the_Second_Coming_of_Christ

So, all I am pointing out, is that humans are depraved. They sin, they do not follow Christ. Or they go to the other extreme, and become rigidly legalistic, instead of following the Holy Spirit. People sin the same sins in every generation! It is the height of ethnocentricity to suggest we are worse or better than any other generation, decade, century or millennium.

Jesus will return when he is ready, not a moment before.

Did not say a time The Bible says to look up at all the signs and when you see them the time grows near. G-d directs us to be aware of the signs.

You need to study scriptures.

.

Ok, I'll bite! How many times have you read the entire Bible, cover to cover?

I've read it over 50 times. Plus in French, the NT twice in Greek, and much of the OT in Hebrew. I am also working my way through Martin Luther's updated German translation. Quite a delight, because German follows Greek word order. This is all in my own, since I was saved in 1980.

So, what courses or degrees do you have on the Bible? I completed my MDiv in 2013. We were taught to read the Bible, how to correctly divide the Bible, using context as applied to the people it was written to, as well as context of passages, chapters, book and covenant.

I am just working on a PhD in theology. Amazing how much more I have been learning about God's Word, and about God himself.

Or do you want to talk about daily Bible study? I study the Bible about 2 hours a day, minimum! But often, that can go to 6 or 10 hours a day.

So, how about you, Preston? It seems like you are still under the Old Covenant, with your leaving out the vowel pointing. G-D? (If you have become a Christian out of Judaism, then don't worry. If you are Hebrew roots, try not to bring it up with me, or I will tear some scriptural pieces off of you.)

My apologies I am not on CC more often. I am too busy studying the Bible!

We need to know only three things of scripture to get on the correct road;
Repentance
Baptism
Live a righteous life.

The KJV...example...presents those in a manner that a child of ten can understand them.

So what is the issue?

I don't agree we are in end times at all! Jesus clearly says that we will not know the day or hour!

"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." Matt 24:36

This dispensational nonsense is utter garbage!

Jesus may come now, or tomorrow, or in 2000 years. Stop predicting the end!

The only people who are getting those "tickling ears" are people like you, who listen to false prophets and liars. Like Hagee! Wasn't the end supposed to come in Sept 2016? After 4 blood moons? Well, it didn't, but he whipped up all the dispies into a frenzy. And sold a lot of books, and made a lot of money.

And so many others, who do this! Whether on their own YouTube channel, or from the pulpit on Sunday!

We won't get into what a stretch it is that somehow, updating the Bible after 400 years means the end is nigh!

I would love to know what psychological condition causes people to go off the deep end with end times? Simple brainwashing? Lack of education? Or some kind of conditioning that makes weak minds?? I'll let you know, if I ever find out what causes this abiblical madness!
Not smart....only G-d can change, modify, amend, redact or otherwise alter The Bible.

End times.......Because that is what scripture teaches us. Try a study...it will help. Being familiar will stop sudden awareness jitters.

So belief in Jesus as God, in His atoning death, and in His resurrection are irrelevant?

The newer translations present all these truths, and many more, in a manner that a child of ten can understand them.

You still haven't clarified your position. Why not?

I have a problem with any religious or ideological, or philosophical text forced on people by rule of law, particularly by the edict of a King. Especially one that was a puppet of the Duke of Lennox, a papist during his younger years. Then set himself up as the head of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland, and once he succeeded to the throne of England he disband the English parliament.

The Bible authorized by a King and forced upon the people by his edict.

Then it would appear you include G-d in that category.

Do you see the words of God as a religion, a law , a book of mandates?
Or do you see the story of his creation, redemption, and love?
Is his holy scriptures a bunch of requirements to be full filled or the truth of what is and is to be?

Preston, people arent getting why you posting this and I dont either,
Sorry.
If some people want to read a bIble version that was translated after 1960 then fine. Some bibles are in languages that never were translated prior to then. I dont have a problem with that.

Some people dont recognise the AV or KJV cos they arent british/english And they would rather read the Bible in an american idiom, thats fine too, I might find it hard to understand but they wouldnt. I once had. A job keywording for photo library company that wanted american words in their picture captions and had to learn an entirely new vocab it seems.

For example, in english its asphalt, but in america they call it blacktop. ?? Tap in english is faucet in american. Nappy in english is diaper in american. Completely different words. Confusing. Yes a little! But you soon learn its just different words, same meaning.

That’s fine, but don’t call those translations God’s word. They cannot be trusted in total. A faithful witness will not lie. If one is seeking God’s word in their own language, every word must be pure, holy and without fault.

By your parameters, the KJV is excluded.

Meh whats with all the kjv haters. Get over it.
If you cant understand it, then ask God to help you, its really your loss if you dont. The Bible is really an ancient library of books and does take a bit of effort to read and meditate on, but is totally worth it.

If one needs a paraphrase, then fine, nobody is calling these paraphrases Gods word. I dont think anyones under the illusion about that, those that know and trust God, trust Him completley to preserve His word to us, and to translate in whatever known language we happen to speak.

Am just thankful I have a bible at all. Many countries you can be persecuted for having one.
