You are also in error. Free grace churches have been teaching faith plus nothing much longer than that.
Where can we find supporting evidence?
I
ROTFL

You ignore what Jesus says. Why is that??

OSAS

John 10 NIV. No one can snatch them out of My hand

22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

Great Commission
Baptism

Matthew 28:16-20 The Great Commission

NIV
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
In our analysis we are not complete and the current conclusion may have to be modified but, with a preponderance of evidence.................. which is not expected.
One will not do it. In research that would most likely be seen as a ...fluke.

ROFL.....Because you are looking in the mirror. LOL

We are ...born again ....here on earth. No one is saved until G-d says...."saved". Once He does then correct no one can snatch a soul away. Notice...sav....ed. Meaning forever. Not while on this earth because one can loose the born again status..

I doubt He appreciated you folks who tries to take away His final judgement authority.

Can someone sanely answer this observation....OSAS or eternal security says no matter what your life looks like after the ‘decision’ your saved. Perseverance of the saints and the possibility of losing salvation says if there is no fruit there is no salvation. I am not sure in the end there is any difference except that God said you will persevere till the end but both are either saying you were saved then you weren’t and the other says you were never. Now my true question is what is true perseverance....is it fruit? Then what is the line between ‘not enough fruit’ ?
How can someone know if they are the 2nd soil or the 4th soil? I guess that is why I am drawn to election because then really how could anyone know if they are on the narrow path that few find? Are my works good enough? Is the measure Sister Theresa or the struggling sinner that keeps messing up but both love Jesus? I know it is Christ and faith in him but I am saying when we start discussing works and fruit and soils I don’t know if we can ever humanly know. Opinions?
Very simple;
We are ...born again... here on earth....not saved. We can loose a.... born again status...easily...I opinion.
After physical death and upon review by G-d and He says...saved....then we are saved with eternal salvation...forever.

You're still in the dark about some things.
I have never been one to study named denominations, so when someone speacts of a dcotrine I have not read of in the Word, I tend to wonder, and I though perhaps this post about emmerging in the 1960's waqs corrct. It is not the cross so it is not of any concern to me as 2must follow" doctrine.

The problem with the misunderstandings is because many don't understand that there is more than one kind of salvation. The main one, of course, is the salvation Jesus gives us. Then there is the salvation from temporal wrath.
Please explain "salvations" other than the one won for us by Christ's sacrifice on the cross.

I always appreciate your good attitude. I started out in a Pentecostal/charismatic church, and I never liked the atmosphere of fear that was prevalent there, or in other, similar churches. People I disagreed with would say things like 'don't come against God's anointed,' or ,'beware you don't blaspheme the Holy Spirit.' Pastors who preached contrary to the bible would get angry if I questioned them about it. I was hurt and confused by that then, but now I realize that it was only ignorance.

We can loose our salvation, backslide, and turn again into the world. This is why Paul said to keep looking at Jesus the author and finisher of our faith and to put aside every hindrance and temptation so that we might run the race with patience, right to the end.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:1-2 KJV)

We have that in common, I began with a Charismatic group but after some time Imentioned Jesus was a Jew, nothing about His name being Yeshua, simply He was a Jew, and I was labled demon possessed…………….of courss I was banned.

As I departed I declared our Father is a God of order, and not confusion. Should anyone in the congregation have the gift of discerning demons he would certainly have the gift to cast it ou. So, by all means whoever sees a demon in me please cast it out….. Jaws dropped and gave to complete silence as I left.

I have spent the last 22 months studying the Bible, especially the New Testament, several hours per day. Sometimes up to 10 to 12 hours per day. I have been a Christian for 30 years but because of unemployment the last 22 months I have had a lot of time to study. I estimate I have spent about 3,500 hours studying my Bible the last 2 years.

I’m writing this post because I am concerned about a dangerous and false doctrine that permeates the Christian church.

It is the doctrine of “Once Saved, Always Saved” or “Eternal Security”. This doctrine teaches that once a person believes in Jesus, even if it is just for one moment in time, that person is saved forever. THIS IS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY CONTINUE BELIEVING OR ARE REPENTANT.

I believe that the Bible does not teach this but most Christian churches are teaching this today.

Because of the length of this post I had to make 2 posts. The original post for this thread and then the first reply is also from me to finish the post. Thank you to all who take the time to read this.

Now let me explain, using SCRIPTURE ALONE, why I think that “Once Saved Always Saved” is a lie.

Let me start with John 3: 16. Perhaps the most famous verse in the Bible. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We also have John 5: 24 - “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

And John 6: 47 - “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.”

So what do these 3 verses have in common? The Greek word for faith/believe is Pistis. It is in the present tense in the Greek in all of these verses. The present tense in Greek denotes a “kind of action” that is continuous. It means a CONTINUAL coming to Christ in faith.

The Christian church for the most part teaches that you can “accept Christ” by believing in Him and you have “eternal life”. No repentance required. No continuing in faith. Just walk that aisle and “get saved”. This is giving many people in the church a false belief that they are saved.

Eternal Life isn’t something that is deposited inside of you which is how many Christians think of it. I think the term “born again” adds to the confusion. Also people think that the sealing of the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 1: 13 and Ephesians 4: 30 is permanent.

BEING “BORN AGAIN” AND “SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT” ARE BOTH REVERSIBLE IN THE BIBLE. THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 CLASSES OF GENUINE BELIEVERS.

How do I know these 2 things? In this post I will try to show you why these statements are true. Let me give you some examples from SCRIPTURE ALONE. Not my opinions.

You will find the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13, Mark 4 and Luke 8. The version in Luke 8 is especially helpful. Let us take a close look at the second and fourth soils in these parables and also compare it with John 15 and the parable of the vine and branches.

What does Jesus say about the second soil? He says five specific things:

1 - Mark 4: 5, That the soil is rocky with not much depth of earth (a bad heart).

2 - Luke 8: 6, That it sprang up.

3 - Luke 8: 13, That in the time of testing/temptation they immediately fall away

4 - Luke 8: 6, That it withered away

5 - Luke 8: 13, That they BELIEVE for a while

The last point is especially important. I have spoken with people who believe in Eternal Security/Once Saved Always Saved and they always try and tell me that the second soil never really believed. They are calling Jesus a liar. Probably not on purpose but that is what they are saying.

Jesus Himself says that the second soil REALLY BELIEVES. That is what the Scripture says.

Now let’s look at John 15: 1-6 and see how it relates to the second soil:

In this parable Jesus is talking about remaining in Him which we do by faith. What happens to the branch in John 15: 6? He loses his faith and is broken off from the vine. So what is the fate of this branch? It is the same as the second soil.

He withers and dies. The same description as what happens to the second soil when he falls away.

And we are told in John 15: 6 the branches are gathered and thrown into the fire and burned. This is an obvious reference to the Lake of Fire and the second death.

What does it say about the fourth soil? That they hear the word with a “Good and Sincere” heart. They are good soil. They bear fruit with patience as the parable tells us.

SO YOU SEE WE HAVE AT LEAST TWO CLASSES OF REAL BELIEVERS.

One with good and sincere hearts (the fourth soil) and one with bad hearts (the second soil which is rocky). If you examine the three versions of this parable closely you will see that the condition of the soil is equal to the condition of the heart.

It also helps to look at John 2: 23-25 and also John 8: 31. These are both second soil type believers. How do we know this? What does Jesus Himself say about them in these two passages?

To paraphrase John 2: 23-25, “…many BELIEVED in Jesus but Jesus did not believe in them…” Why did Jesus not believe in these BELIEVERS? He tells you in the verses. They have bad hearts. They don’t really love Him. They won’t stay long.

Same thing in John 8: 31 when Jesus says to those that BELIEVED in Him that “…if you continue in My word then you are really My disciples…”

The Scripture in both these passages says that these people REALLY BELIEVED. The same thing as what Jesus says about the second soil and the branch in John 15.

THESE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT PASSAGES THAT SHOW THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO CLASSES OF GENUINE BELIEVERS. To deny this is to deny Scripture and call Jesus a liar. These are not my opinions.

So how does the “new birth” work, and being “sealed with the Holy Spirit” work?

To use a crude analogy it works like electricity. Please hear me. I am not saying Jesus is electricity. He is infinitely greater obviously. I am trying to use an analogy to get the point across. I am trying to get you to think about how the “new birth” and “sealing” work in the biblical way.

Like I said earlier, many Christians think the “new birth” and “sealing by the Holy Spirit” are one-time things that are permanent and irreversible. This is false. Let me show you:

Remember John 15 and the vine and branches we just talked about? Jesus is the vine and we are the branches just as the parable tells us. What does a vine do?

It pushes it’s life giving sap into the branches otherwise the branches would die. Just like electricity lights a light bulb.

Ephesians 2: 1 says that we are all dead in sins. We have all been born physically alive thanks to our parents but spiritually dead thanks to Adam and Eve and their lack of faith in the Garden.

We are all empty vessels, or empty light bulbs if you will, walking around that need to be filled with Christ’s Spirit. How does that happen?

Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3: 3, “..you must be born again…” How?

By faith in Christ. You are that empty light bulb/vessel. When you believe in Him you flip the light switch on and the electricity/Jesus heats up the filament (your dead spirit) and causes the light bulb to shine. So when people see a true Christian they are seeing Jesus shining bright through that person.

As soon as you believe you are “born again” and “sealed with the Holy Spirit”. When we read of conversions in the book of Acts it works just like that.

But can you become “unborn” and “unsealed”? The biblical answer is YES.

This terminology is a stumbling block to the person who believes in Eternal Security/OSAS. The reason it is a stumbling block is because they think the “new birth” and “sealing” are irreversible. They are not. YOUR FAITH IS ALWAYS REQUIRED YOUR WHOLE LIFE UNTIL YOU DIE AND YOUR FAITH COMES FROM YOU ALONE. JESUS DOES NOT BELIEVE FOR YOU.

It works like electricity. When you stop trusting in Christ, you flip the light switch off. No more electricity/Jesus. The filament goes cold just like when you turn off a light bulb and there is no more light. Jesus’ presence has left you because you don’t have faith in Him anymore.

This fits the exact five details that I gave you earlier about the second soil. Remember them?

1 - “Rocky Soil” = Bad heart that doesn’t really love God

2 - “Life springs up.” This one is very important. We are all born dead spiritually with no life in us. Only God has spiritual life. Their faith was real because they were attached to His life giving Spirit.

3 - “In the time of testing/temptation they immediately fall away” This is more proof of a bad heart. You can’t “fall away” unless you had real faith.

4 - “they withered away” Just like the branch in John 15 that stopped believing also. They withered because Christ’s life was in them and now Christ’s Spirit has left them when they flipped the light switch off.

5 - JESUS SAYS THEY WERE REAL BELIEVERS. The eternal security/OSAS must stop denying that this is true. Jesus says it is true. But these people have bad hearts and don’t love Him so they lose their faith and perish.

What about the “sealing by the Holy Spirit” in Ephesians 1: 13 and Ephesian 4: 30?

"Baptism is not required"...is another one of the 10-12 new age interpretations of scriptures which all are pure .....end time delusions..... now part of mainstream Christianity.

Don't fall for that bunk.
Pentecostals are wrong tho since they baptize a wrong way (Matthew 28:20)

OSAS has one simple flaw

Jesus loves the world because He said He does.
Jesus loves the world because He showed it by dying for it.

Now which of these two statements are true.
We are defined by our beliefs that are shown in our actions.
Because we live in our heads we become deluded that the idea agreed with is the same as the
idea lived out.

Sin destroys, righteousness builds.
To repair past damage a price must be paid with a commitment to righteous build in the future.
The whole point of forgiving the past so the righteous future can exist eternally.

If the future is sinful, there is no remedy.
It the past is resolved while the future is doomed it makes no difference.

So the only reality is a forgiven past with an active righteous future that represents life shown
in the actions of Gods people. And the future must show working to resolution of sin, else
it is just hypocrisy and pretend.

Ok I agree that they will know us by our fruit but if our salvation and our being loved by the Father depends on our actions then how are you measuring them. What is the amount of our actions that put us in your enough catagory? Is it daily bible reading? Or forgiveness within a certain amount of days or is it how much we serve? I mean yes our lives change but we can love Christ and be struggling in the Christian life. Some people bring an already disciplined personality with them as a new Christian. Some people come to Christ with depression. Some come as someone whom wasn’t successful at much in life. Some come as shy or lonely or whatever. So OSAS is true for those that believe and live Jesus Christ. When the Word says work out your salvation with fear and trembling for it is God who works....it also means work out your own and pray for those that are struggling instead of excluding them based on your standards because our works can be as filthy rags when they are the price of our salvation.

When the Word says work out your salvation with fear and trembling for it is God who works....it also means work out your own and pray for those that are struggling instead of excluding them based on your standards because our works can be as filthy rags when they are the price of our salvation.
We are not working to save our own seves but we should work as fellow workers of God who are included in Christ or placed in His body to do good works which includes the works of the Gospel of our salvation for the benefit of those who are going to be saved through FAITH and OBEDIENCE to God the Father and in His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

It is God's work to save and if we are in Him, we will be His instruments of righteousness and fellow workers in His work of salvation until Jesus comes back to save those who are in His body, the church of God..

... “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” John 4:34-38

Pentecostals are wrong tho since they baptize a wrong way (Matthew 28:20)
We must always prove man's denomination policy with G-d's law.
The Bible tells us ...very clearly...what and how baptism is to be performed. In that instruction we find no reference to; sprinkling, wet rag application, et al. It says full body immersion.

I think here conceptually or linguistically the mistake is being made.
I can say I will build a house. I can have the plans, the finance, the permissions, but until
I build the house it is just a proposition or intention and not a reality.

Salvation is about an acknowledgement about the truth of where we are and who God is
followed by an action that remedies the situation. The remedy is to become like Jesus,
the how we do this will vary and have different emphasises depending on who we are and
the issues we have.

When someone runs a race of 100m you finish the race by crossing the line, not giving up
part way down. And our sense of being like Jesus, is between us and Him, because most of
the reality is within where only we know, and He sees.

Jesus says simply this is one step at a time, and He is leading. When things are certain and
known, and progress is real, the pace is less important than its reality. Sad to say what often
people posses is a nice view of a sinful heart, without ever meeting Jesus.

Opinions?
You are asking a good question.
And I think the answer is about purity, what comes out of us, is it pure or polluted?
If you love, deeply love another, what does that mean?

Cleansing of the heart, resolving hurts, anger, defence of sin, bitterness, unforgiveness, greed,
jealousy, self indulgence are the beginning. Once one sees life for its temporary nature and
the love the cross represents, service is a goal and a delight.

It has never been about the quantity of good things that flow from us, but that any flow from
us, because it is Christ who is the origin and source. We do not stand because we have reached
this mark, but because we know Him and move in Him, in praise, in worship, in love, in thanks,
in all we do. Rather than I do this, in Christ I do that, in everything we do unto our Lord.

But where to we start? We start with the people closest to us, and bring them to the Lord, and
work our way through, until we find out how to love them all, the strengths and weaknesses,
seeing how we can bless and help them despite their struggles. It is not easy and it costs us
our life in the world but is eternal life with Christ.

People don't understand Christ and what He has done for us.

What people mostly do understand is the Law. Because everyone is, or has been, under the law, at least at some point.

And the law says do this and be blessed, don't do that or be cursed.

That is the argument against OSAS. It is how can a person be saved if they aren't doing the do's of being blessed and they are doing the don'ts of being cursed?

The bigger question is WHO is the One doing the defining of what the do's and don'ts are?

Most people think that the law is pretty easy to understand. It's because no one understands TRULY what it says until they are saved and no longer under it.

No longer under the threat of having to do the dos to be blessed and no longer worried about not doing the don'ts of being cursed. How is that possible? Because, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has done the dos to the Highest so that we can be blessed.

We are not blessed because we think we have done the dos. That is just pure imagination. Pure silliness really if you are a Christian and have read your bible.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

So if Righteousness before God doesn't come through your actions, or your "obedience" to the law, then how does Righteousness come?

It comes through faith in Christ. Without Christ we can do nothing. We can't grow the fruit of Righteousness just by our own will or understanding. It is Christ, and Christ Alone who grows this fruit of Righteousness.

A Christian doesn't keep himself saved by ensuring all his actions are righteous. Or maybe once in a while does some righteous actions to offset some of the un-righteous actions he has done.

A Christian is kept saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ doesn't give His Gifts like some people do. He doesn't say "Here is life, but if you step over that line I will take it back". He gives His Gift eternally with no threats of revocation. Irrevocable.

Some people say that "Irr re VOC able" but I prefer saying it "Ir REV ocable" or Ir-revakabull. Either way it is Irrevocable.

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

If you insist that Salvation can be lost then you are saying that God does take His Gifts back. That is simply an un-biblical statement.

You can't be any more un-saved than you can be un-born from your mother or father. Its too late. Like it or not. You just have to live with it. The Lord Jesus Loves you and He's not going to stop. Just like our physical mothers and fathers, only better...

Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
