Have you ever been tire of doing good?
I KNOW the Bible says to never stop doing good (or never tire of it).
James says if we know to do good, but don't do it, it is a sin...I get it.
But sometimes I get tired of either doing good, or helping.
Many times I have helped people, only to have them take advantage of the situation.
I get so frustrated and discouraged about that.
Thanks for letting me vent today, I appreciate it!

I think we all have times when we just get tired. I've learned to just do the good, and not worry about whether or not they appear to benefit. And as a good steward, I try not to waste my time and resources(for they belong to God). I have prayed for you two, and I will continue to do so.

Thank you my friend and I will also pray for you as I feel that you are probably dealing with a lot of hard things at this stage of your life.

Hi Homewardbound,

You are certainly not alone in the way you feel. I usually have a simultaneous feeling of being tired, overwhelmed, ready to give up, and yet still wondering if I'm doing enough and if I should be doing more.

One thing that has helped me greatly was a sermon I heard that said, "You are not called to everyone," and God has been teaching me a lot over the years about actually helping vs. enabling.

I believe that a lot of what I used to do was actually enabling people to stay stuck in cycles of poor decisions, and it really changed my life when I started asking God whom I could really help and whom I should stop enabling.

I have to say that I've felt a lot less burdened and obligated ever since. There are still plenty of opportunities to help, of course, but now I feel like God is really directing me rather than me feeling like I can never say no to anyone.

I pray that God will give you a time of stepping back and refreshment, and maybe help redirect your faithfulness to a path that puts the joy back into your helping.

Kudos to you for being such a compassionate, tenacious servant, and may God greatly bless your ministry!

It is very hasrd sometimeson all of us. There have been occasions when I have wanted to help some with something material to help them in thier struggles, financial I mean, and they have turned around in displeasure to ask me for something bettr. I have paid rent for a person and not welcomed back once the money was in hand. Always when I do something it is made known it is not of me but from Jesus.......that is when I am not welcome.. not without more. And so it goes. God bless them. It is only my efforts or material not wanted..........Jesus is not offended so why should I be, yet it dause give me pause to remember well.

It honestly depends on the who....

Someone(s) on the street begging for money, I never get tired of getting them food instead of handing over cash. NO! Now my niece who makes $18.00 an hour and whos husband who makes $30.00 on his job keep coming to me because they cannot pay rent and have 3 boys under the age of 5 and get $600.00 in food stamps. Why can they not pay rent, the electric....??? Because of drugs!!!! I got sick of it!!!! BUT THEY HAVE THE BOYS AND THEY KNOW IT!!!! My mom got sick of it too!!! Let the boys get taken away, I will take them BUT I WILL NEVER GIVE A NOTHER DIME TO SAM!!!!

I don't know what your referring to and really I do not need to... The point is there really is the needy and we give, like in the Bible then there is the.... whatever you want to call them.... Pray G-d will lead you!!!

Thank you, fellow traveler, the encouragement is needed. I need to step back sometimes and breathe!!!

Sometimes its not so easy. Especially when people just use you and or are unthankful.
But helping anyway, the more you do after a while you see the fruit. Even if you help 20 people and only one appreciates it, its so great. Especially broken and hurt people whose eyes just light up when they see u and know someone cares. Its worth it.

You get way more back in the long run than you first put in.

Just my 2 cents from my own ministry experiences
