Ten Questions, Broken Down: If You Were Offered an All-Expenses Paid Trip, Where Would You Go?

Hey Everyone,

Ok, I know the title says it all: if you were offered a trip, and everything would be paid for, where would you want to go?

But in addition, would you also tell us:

* Why would you like to go to this particular place? Does it have some kind of special interest, memory, or personal history for you?

* How would you prefer to travel there? I know this question depends on what's applicable to your destination of choice, but would you prefer: car, train, plane, boat, pack mule, etc., and why?

* How long would you plan to stay, and what would you do while you were there?

* Who would you take with you, and why?

I didn't grow up in a family that traveled and have always felt a little envious of those who do. One of my personal goals is to try to work more and more towards a place where I can hopefully start expanding my horizons a bit and see other places, even if it's just down the street to a coffee shop I've never been to.

What destinations do you all have in mind, and why?

Hmmm.... I have a few answers. First would be Alaska. The reason is my mom has always wanted to go and hasn't got to yet. She and I have talked about doing an Alaskian cruise for years now. Naturally she'd be the one I took with me . I think one week would be fine .

But another would be Ireland. I've always been in awe of the beautiful scenery. I'd love to go spend about a month in a little cabin near a hillside. I'd like to take my friend Lilly . She and I always talk about traveling together but neither of us have ever been anywhere. I'd love to take a flight ...since I never have before .

I'd also like to take a trip with a cc friend but they already know all about that

If all your expenses were being paid and you could fill up as many carts as you wanted, I might have to second that trip.

We just got our monthly Costco savings booklet today. I am hoping that the all expense paid trip to Costco includes a stop at the food court as I have never actually dined there. I want one of those $1.50 1/4 lb hot dogs and Pepsi with free refills.

If I had to pick a place to travel to, it would be Jerusalem. I want to spend some quality time at the western wall.

I've already been just about everywhere, but I could go back:

Let's see I want to go back to New Zealand to see New Zealand. Where I stayed was ok, but there's plenty more beauty to see in the country. We'll see how I like my first cruise this year, but I know they have cruises around New Zealand and that would be a possibility.

Really want to do an Alaska trip similar to the one my parents did which had both overland and cruise portions. I think if I'm doing Alaska I want to really see the whole thing. And if I can find a cruise that does lots of naturey stuff that would be even better (wonder what the fines are for wandering off in Denali and "accidentally" getting left there; also wonder how long it would take the local grizzlies to decide that one unarmed human being all alone looks like a good snack).

Not sure if it would be practical or if anyone ever offers it, but a journey's of Paul tour that takes you to most of the places Paul travelled could be really cool too. I'm thinking a massive thing that starts in Jerusalem and winds it's way through turkey, greece, macedonia and then ends in rome.

I expect the vast majority of any of those trips to be by plane and boat, though big busses might be included as well. And when it comes to local transport, well most of those places probably use cars for taxis.

Seems like any of those trips would be a 2-3 week venture (might be able to cram it in to 10 days and still get a lot done). The plan is mostly to take in a lot of pretty natural (or for the journeys of paul thing historical) settings, eat good food, read good books and if the opportunity comes up to swim with sharks or whales or do old frontiersey type stuff or feel like a real explorer I'm up for that too (as long as their hobbit approved type ventures that don't make one late for dinner).

If I could only take one person, I might just end up going by myself. Either that or invite someone that I thought would be interested and I could tolerate for that period of time. Mostly because most people I might want to take would have a significant other they wouldn't want to leave (though if I had a NZ tour to LOTR sites, little brother would most definitely be invited and probably let his family make due without him for a bit)

Assuming that I trusted the source of the blessing...(consider my dying long lost uncle that left me 100,000,000 in Zambia )

The first thing that comes to mind is a 1 year writing trip across Canada and the U.S with Camping, comida, AAA, Car repairs, and tours. I'd take myself with me but be looking for friends the whole way. Kind of like Travels with Charlie motif.

That's scant budget motivated though. I can't imagine anything larger without considering the source...can't daydream outside reality as much anymore *sigh*

For me, South and East Africa, beginning in Namibia, then the Garden Route, Kruger Park, the Drakensberg Mountains, Victoria Falls and the Zambezi Valley, Ngorongoro, the Rift Valley, and a few side trips for birdwatching and connecting with family history.

I would travel with my 😍 and my family and would prefer to travel by train. I've travelled by boat by plane and by car and I didn't enjoy it that much... because of my motion sickness and the only way I can enjoy travelling to places is by train(which is funny because I don't feel dizzy when I am in the train) but by plane is the fastest way to travel 😁 so i would still choose plane to go to another country 😊


I love to watch the beautiful creation of the Lord the streams the landscapes the people 😍 andd i wish i can stay 1 year...😀 to experience the winter,spring,summer,fall and rainy season. How I pray the next time I go out and go to another country it would be to enjoy the place and not to work 😀
