Why only 9 gifts when they are at least 20?
The KJV lists nine in 1 Corinthians 12

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Is that because in your book there is no right or wrong? I dislike deception and will confront it when possible. You may embrace it if you wish.
There is absolutely right from wrong. There is also mentioned in the bible somewhere about spiritual discernment. Just because you don't believe in what is said does not mean that deception was practiced. Remember, the KEY is spiritual discernment otherwise misunderstandings may occur.

I am a federal law enforcement officer for over 30 years, and what I see and do depends on binding and loosing and not myself daily!
Finally, you have said something about yourself. Most refreshing and your credential impressive. Please share more in your future posts.

Gentiles were called β€œbad and good.”

Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
Matthew 22:8-10 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Matthew 22:8-10&version=KJV
What is the last word in that text......GUESTS
I gave the verses in which 'keys' are mentioned and only Jesus, angels, the Prophets and Apostles are mentioned having them...

Isaiah 22:22 (KJV) And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

Matthew 16:19 (KJV) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Luke 11:52 (KJV) Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Revelation 1:18 (KJV) I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 3:7 (KJV) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Revelation 9:1 (KJV) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Revelation 20:1 (KJV) And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

To say all believers have them is to go beyond Scripture. I won't go there.
Amen....let the bible speak where it speaks and lay silent when it is silent......

Victory is in Christ and Him Crucified, not the State or I. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. 2 Cor. 10:4

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: Acts 1:8

Jesus gave His Disciples dunamis (power), exousia (spiritual authority) and kratos (dominion, strength, power). God gave Jesus this anointing and Jesus has given it to us (followers that are His Disciples).

Dunamis heals the soul and body where it has been wounded by sickness, disease, trauma, and all infirmities. It also deals with all miracles. Dunamis means "excellent of soul." Philippians 3:10, Romans 8:11 NIV

Exousia deals with commanding all demonic forces to leave that have put a person in bondage and strongholds from their sins or however they got permission to afflict you. It gives spiritual authority to the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven to bind and loose in Heaven and Earth.

Kratos gives you dominion (jurisdiction). I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Joshua 1:3 NIV

Unbelief hinders spiritual authority. Never change the theology of the bible to accommodate something that did not happen based on the way you want it to do and the way you want it to be. Because Gods word is true and every man is a liar. Authority can never be released in silence. The bible says, β€œOut of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” The whole idea and reason why the Devil want the Christian believers to keep their mouth shut is because if you don’t speak, spirits don’t leave.
Thanks for your opinion. I just don't buy your take on exousia, spiritual authority. You have not shown anywhere in Scripture that spiritual authority has been given to others, other than Prophets or Apostles.

Jude 1:9 NASBS
[9] But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

A member enthusiastically relates her spiritual experience and right away you throw a wet blanket over her with your needless nitpicking. Instead of offering encouragement you chose to discourage in your effort to prove your moral superiority. Others have done the same thing in other threads so your not alone in this by any means. Your display was not very Christ-like regardless if you were right or wrong. I normally agree with a lot of your posts but this time you went off on a wild tangent of some sorts. Don't be discouraged though because I have been wrong before too so you're in good company. Nobody's perfect.
So you condemn the very thing you yourself do? I'm entitled to my take on Scripture as well and won't back down to anti bullies.
I believe a wrong application of the keys were expressed, threw out a challenge, which hasn't been met.

Spiritual discernment was not in 'authority key' given, that was a spiritual gift given to some in His Body, that others apparently poo pooh, and call 'haters' to the ones who utilize it.

You absolutely are entitled to your take on scripture, but the point is that there is no need to belittle and insult those that may disagree with you. That is the real issue here that I have raised.

Why drag out the issue that isn't even yours? The OP is fully capable of speaking for herself and I was ready to drop it when she was. This has been protracted by her defense counsel I guess.

You really got yourself into a pickle.
Jesus said "if you shall say to a mountain,be removed and cast in the sea,and shall not doubt it will be done"
"Whatsoever you bind (lockup/lockout) shall be bound (lockup/lockout)"
"....and the disciples marvelled that demons were subject to them"
"...and greater works than these shall you do because i go to My Father"

Just a few authority verses off the top of my head

You; "Jesus neither gave keys or authority"

Good luck defending your extra non biblical mess you were taught by John Mcarthur (you sound exactly like him,no pentecost,no power,no authority)
How can a believer stumble over something so basic???

You took the issue on. Nobody told you to come and make belive keys were a figment of Jesus's imagination.

Yeah we all know authority is not a key issue.
Lets also pretend faith is not key. Just an option with no value.

What a major, major, mighty earth shaking marvelous gift "...KEYS TO THE KINGDOM"
Concerning authority, revelatory knowledge, authority over satan and demons, healing, the Holy Spirit becoming our helper,...and wow AUTHENTICATED AND DECLARED,YES DECLARED OVER US,HIS DISCIPLES.
WHAT A EARTH SHAKING MONUMENTAL BLESSING!!!
I CAN GO A MILLION MILES ON WHAT JESUS HANDED ME.

YOU "jesus you can keep your key baloney"
You know, there is a key strategy in life and walking with God.
It is called "picking your battles"
You need a makeover friend. You are litterally bucking up against heaven. Your stand is making you redo the bible itself.

Sorry, I'm not the wind or the sea and you are not Jesus...

Mark 4:39 (KJV) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Jesus said "greater works than these shall you do"
The bible is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus handed us the keys to the kingdom (authority)
The miracles Jesus did were not meant to be abstract history.
He is alive and has a body.
That body has hands that touch the sick and heal.
That body has a head... Jesus
That head uses the mouths of his disciples (me and you) to cast out demons and break chains off people.
He uses our mouths to speak his words.
His ministry on earth is THROUGH US.
WE NOW HAVE AUTHORITY.
HE GAVE US THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM

LOL<that key didn't set the captives free...rather it bound the captor.
The key that loosens those captive from their captors (lying spirits) Keeping them chained as prison guards . . we have a different kind of guard.

You could say set free from a dark prison. . . kept in a impregnable glorious mansion no darkness . Two kinds of keeping. one to keep enemies in . . . the other to keep them out. . . both keep or guard.

Something I did a while back ..sort of a poem . I have titled . The Key . . . . . the Open Door

What a miracle the love you have revealed. Teaching your thoughts as revealed.

I spent my life soul searching to no avil imprisoned and locked without a Key.

All my souls searching with all of my might . . could not aid me I was loosing the fight.

Blinded and deaf, I felt with my hand, stumbling and tripping trying to stand.

Again and again I gave up the searching for the Key and determined again I would never be free.

The prison I lived in was so dark and so cold. God sent his Son to free from the dark eternal abode.

So bright is Love and powerful His might . It illuminated by mind and diminished what I called sight.

Then a soothing gentle voice giving me ears to hear ... saying; "This is my Son in whom I am well pleased" At the sight of his face I fell to my knees.

So brilliant was his countenance at last I could see. His face reflecting the love as the reason he suffered for me.

The prison door opened as I gazed at his face. I fell again and thanked him for the gift of grace.

He took me by the hand as I started to cry again whispered, it was why he chose to die .I thanked Him as a followed his light showed the way and marveled at the fact for my trespass he did pay.

My soul the restless wander is no more .He is the key the open door.

I never said 1Pet 4 is just battling the air. Understanding is one thing (which we are given), authority is another, or do you so pompously think you have as much authority as the Apostles did?
I would have to ask .How much did they have? Enough to belive God or more?

.All believers are apologist . We defend the faith that defends us .We are to put that armor. on and keep it on. No armor for the back. He is the rear guard keeps the stragglers safe from the wolves. He is also the light unto our path. His love encircles us.

The apostles warns us of those who think of men above that which is written, puffing themselves up .

Its what the Catholic did with the word "apostle" giving it a special "seen" authority when they changed the meaning. Therefore making the Author, Christ's meaning without effect. .

God in the end of that matter asks. . . What does any person have that they have not freely received for the hand of God.?And if they say they have received it. . . why would they think the power in their own bodies of death was greater than the power the other next to them had?

There would be no biblical sense in that . The word "apostle" without a bunch of religious reasoning traditions , reconstructing.. adding simply means... "sent one". God sent Balaam's Ass it worked to restrain the madness of a false prophet . God can use a unbeliever to bring his good news(gospel) .He simply is not served by human hands in any way shape or form .

The apostles have the same treasure as any believer.

2 Corinthians 4:7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

You know, I could care less of your's (or anyone else's) assessment of me. I am not the topic or subject matter..

But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 1 Corinthians 4:3-4 (KJV)
Yes but if you try to yell louder than Jesus, subject matter .....it becomes about YOU!
