Women deserve respect

Was not talking about sexual sin. I do think women are generally nicer to be with than men. The way I see it is we all are children of God. I don’t put anyone on a pedestal, only Jesus.

I want to rephrase that even though I admire women more than men in how they conduct themselves and are generally nicer to hang out with, it doesn’t mean I think they are better. Like I said before I believe we all are equal under God.

Rather than vent my utter disgust at this sentiment, I will hold my tongue... this time. I will just say that your thinking is corrupted by the feminist agenda.

Nah, no need to apologize. I wasn’t offended. I just see these views that were expressed as common enough amongst Christians that I want to start pushing back. The idea that men are inferior, brutish, too aggressive, etc and need to be civilized or refined by women. Essentially, masculinity is bad or defective in some way. There is also a “nice guy” element that is along the same lines of wanting to prove you are not like other men.

This is one of those areas where chivalry and feminism aligns. I’m working on these ideas in myself, as well.

No,no,no... the feminist agenda is not scriptural. Men need to be the spiritual leader, women submissive to her man. I do believe we are all equal and God created us for specific roles. I was just stating from my experiences women are generally nicer than men.

Cool thank you for this. If women want a spiritual leader empower them to do so (male bashing doesn’t work). If men want a lady to be submissive and believe in them, be the spiritual leader God created you to be.

Such submission is only relevant within a marriage, and even then, Scripture says, "submit to one another out of reverence for Christ".

Stereotypically, men are more focused on doing; women are more focused on relating. Because of that, women may tend to seem nicer on the surface.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to make anyone "wrong"; I'm just challenging the statements that have been made.

Hmm this got me thinking...

Kindness is a fruit of the spirit and should be shown to all regardless if they deserve it or not. Even better if they don’t cause it might be just what they need to change whatever they are going through.

I still hold my stance to respect should be earned from all even women. It’s something that I admire about that person and to get to that level we need to get to know them first.

I understand your point as well. I just won't go as far as to say "everyone." Christ didn't either. He showed that when He cleared the Temple of the moneylenders and such. He didn't show much respect or kindness towards the Sadducees and Pharisees either, come to think of it.

Now, if we limit "everyone" to "every believer," then I can see that.

It's probably a good thing that I was not posting when this thread was started. I would have shredded the OP. I really don't like the word "deserve"; it's much overused, and IMO the only thing we humans "deserve" is judgment under a wrathful God. Fortunately, other contributors have expressed themselves with greater temperance than I would have.

There are many societal evils that are rooted at least in part in the belief that women "deserve" something from men (and owe nothing in return). Both chivalry and feminist idealogy want special treatment for women simply on the basis of gender. Neither is Christian at its core.

Instead of claiming that anyone "deserves" anything, our treatment of others should be based on our biblically-based belief that each human is made in the image of God, and the Holy Spirit in us should be manifested in kindness toward all fellow humans, male and female, without regard to gender.

Yes, all believers deserve to be treated with kindness, and respect, but not ALL peoples. As for women being treated differently, well, I think some should consider how various Denominations treat them, yes? Are they treated equally? Hmm....

1 Peter 3:7 - Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

I didn't read where anyone said women should not/do not have to treat men with respect, not on this Thread. Maybe so, but I didn't see it. So that's pretty much moot in my opinion. Women are told to in Scripture, and they should.

1 Peter 3:
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Men are charged differently in Scripture....

1 Timothy 5:
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

I agree, though I don’t require the men I am interested in to open doors for me and whatnot.

I actually remember there was a dating show (or maybe it was just a story I forget) where a lady was out on a date. The gentleman had gone to pick her up with his car, and she stepped out of the house. When he didn’t offer to open the car door for her, after a moment she immediately turned around and Went back in the house. The date was over.

To me that is ridiculous. I appreciate knowing what you want, but the dude did just drive all the way to your house.

I think we should open doors for everyone, show respect to all, treat all ppl with decency, treat everyone with kindness.

It is not an equality thing, a female or male thing. It is a do unto others as you would want them to do you thing.
