Just how are you meant to answer this question Im still trying to figure out.

Do you say where you are born, or where your parents are from, and they could be from two different places...
Do you say your town, or your country.
Or do you say Im from down the road. Where are you from? Does it even matter?

would you say Im from out of Egypt, or straight outta Compton, or hold on Im just fresh out of jail

Cant you just say it doesnt matter where I'm from, Im on my way to heaven.

this is a very interesting question, and can evoke many emotions, thank you for asking this!...
when we are young, we don't ever ask ourselves such deep and meaningful questions -
often, even in our 20's -30's -40's 50-s -60's, and then, after, some may begin to wonder and even ask......
but, for most, they never begin to even wonder or seek personal answers about their heritage/or, never even ask or care,
why should they, it's obvious that their parents/etc. don't...

I personally think that it is a Spiritual Journey that some or none are enlightened to...
mostly it's a mute point, as our Saviour has all of the answers to all of our questions, and,
will eventually share with each and everyone of us ALL we need to know...

I say where Im from, and people then dont like the answer cos its the same city I am living in now. they expect me to be from somewhere else. then they ask again and I say the same answer and they still dont get it.

:-(

I am NATIVE and local people. You are the ones from outside! So I ask them where they are from and they sheepishly say well not from here.

IF they want to know where my parents are from they should ask them themselves. I get to the point where I can be quite rude about it because people always want to judge people on appearances.

If people want to know my CULTURE or ancestry that is an entirely different question...

But I have got to thinking it doesnt matter where Im from...its where Im going that matters.

am referring to when God says of Jesus 'Out of egypt I have called my son' which is also referring to the Israelites being called out of Egypt where rhey were living at the time to go to the promised land.

Some of them may have been born there but they were only meant to stay there to get away from the famine. God had promised them a land He was going to give to them. (what was then the land of Canaan) . Egypt represented a land in which idolatry was practiced, God called them out of there so they could be free to worship Him.

In the new Testament the promised land is a type and shadow of Heaven thats promised to believers.

In Jesus childhood he had to go to Egypt to flee persecution, the king Herod was after him. after Herod died Jesus and his family could go back and settle in Israel. Jesus was born in Bethelehem Judea but actually grew up in Nazareth, Galilee where his mum came from. He would have only spent maybe a few years in egypt, although the birth narrative in the gospels is sometimes confusing with two different versions. Jesus was dedicated at the temple in Jerusalem as a baby.

because Jesus was from Nazareth (or grew up there) Judeans and and people from other town that were more sophisticated looked down on him and said can anything good come out of Nazareth?

but actually Jesus WAS born in Judaea so he had claim to the throne. however Jesus would always be referred to as Jesus of Nazareth by people that knew him (there may have been a lot of other men called Jesus at the time) he was never referred to as Jesus of Jerusalem.

I think promise land is to make Egyptian believe in Jesus and it happened in the past

You say where You came from.. Not your parents because they are not you.. When people ask where i am from i simply answer.. I don't try and make up some conspiracy in my mind that the other person is out to get me.. Often people only ask this question to keep a conversation going or they are just opening up another avenue for conversation..

I just give them the simple answer but people dont seem to accept it which is weird.
I dont ask where people are from unless they have an accent that is unfamiliar. I dont judge on what people LOOK like. Most accents I can recognise. as I dont live in a tourist town and am local it is always strange that people seem to ask where I come from as if I dont belong and dont accept people for just living here. Usually I just name the suburb where I am from, since its a big city and it most usually you might have travelled a bit to get somehwere, but my question is specific...

Do you come from far away? where do you live?

if they then want to tell me their immigration story from generations ago or where exactly they were born its up to them but I am not inistent that they couldnt be living here all their lives just cos thry look different from me. thats the thing.

People dont seem to realise what an insult it is to ask someone whos native about their birthright as if they have no right to be born in a place, and then INSIST they couldnt be from where they say they are from.

please dont do that, nobody really wants to have to exaplin themselves and then go through their entire geneology to answer a simple question.

the way i answer is, "i'm originally from [city], but i now live in [current city]."

What about a person who is born in "city) but within a couple of months was taken to another city 2,000 miles away?

I am from Arizona! They call our area " the valley" which basically the main middle of the state. No snow, no big rain. But it's nice.

I'm in the burbs where all the yuppies are.
