'Made righteous' means 'justified'.

Abraham was 'made righteous' (justified) when he believed God in Genesis 15:6.
Abraham was 'shown to be righteous' (also called 'justified') when he offered up Isaac on the altar in Genesis 22:10.
A man is justified, both, by faith apart from works, and by works.

"24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." - James 2:24
So it is not only the "don't stop believing"... like the ole Steve Perry tune..... but now you come clean and admit your false doctrine of justified by works.

You put God in your debt... very horrible!

Lol, 11th hour red x'd this before it was even done posting.
Your contention is with the Bible, not me.
But feel free to show us James is wrong.
No amount of works justifies me before God. The righteousness of Christ justifies me.

Only one use of justification, and that’s before God. Why be justified in man’s eyes? I do one good work and man justifies me? Who cares? I care about what God thinks.
Sadly and rather tragically you are wrong.

We are exhorted to manifest outwardly our inward justified status so that others may believe.

God cares and He tells us to do it via James

Abraham is the example, and yet he was justified before God and not man. No man was up there to see, but God.

Genesis 22
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

Why did God have to know Abraham feared Him?

We have had this discussion before.

I have already given it my best effort.
Your view causes many problems with regards to "saved by faith alone apart from works."

Why did God have to know Abraham feared Him?
It justified him believing back in chapter 15.

Just the opposite. I believe we’re justified by the faith of Christ the moment we believe. No amount of works justify us to be saved or prove that we are saved. That’s lordship salvation.

Is it possible that Abraham was in a different dispensation. Jesus had not come yet. for Abraham living by faith but offering up a sacrificial lamb went hand in hand.

Hey John146 what part of Galatians 3?
Before the faith of Christ came, man had faith, but It was his own faith. Man lived by his own faith. But after the faith of Christ has come, the believer lives by the faith of Christ.

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Yes, Hebrews 11 describes those OT saints faith through their works of obedience.

Here’s how I see it.

Christ was in the church in the wilderness so the faith of Christ was in them. The verse below doesn’t promise the faith of Christ, it says the promise (the one made to Abraham) would be given to us THROUGH the faith of Christ.

In other words, through the faithfulness of Christ during his earthly life, the promises made to Abraham would be given to those who believe on him.

Gal 3:22 (KJV) But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

I cannot believe how many disregard the context of James to peddle this crap that is being peddled......Paul was clear....Abraham was JUSTIFIED (PAST TENSE) the micro second he had faith......well before he offered Isaac.....these jokers make a mockery of the word of God!!
