Why stand on your wisdom and deny the signified and lose out on the spiritual understanding?
How on God's green earth is letting the scripture be the determining factor in whether or not a passage is literal or symbolic standing on my own wisdom?

Don't answer that question.

There appears to be nothing further to be gained here.

It’s a waste of time. He symbolizes everything, meaning he doesn’t take anything literally.
I would offer the other side of the coin.

Taking the signified understanding literally gives us the unseen understanding .

Parables, the mixing of the things seen, the temporal together, with the unseen eternal is called "mixing faith" in Hebrew 4 reckoned as the gospel . No mixing faith no gospel and therefore no sabbath rest .

Hebrews 4:1-5)King James Version (KJV)Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

I don't think we are literalize the signified understanding.

Revelation 1 King James Version (KJV)The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Like for instance when looking at the parable in Revelation 20 and applying the metaphors .

When rightly dividing according to the prescription (2 Corinthian 4:18) I find at least 10 different metaphors (the temporal things seen) that literally give us the unseen eternal spiritual understanding. Beginning with the word angel (they have no form as messages of truth ) and the key which is the faith that comes from hearing God, the gospel. The gospel as a chain binds the father of lies . e.t.c.

The first 6 verses are loaded with metaphors used in parable . John was simply shown a vision using the things seen to give the literal spiritual understanding.

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.revealtion Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:1-6

I would think we are in that thousand year reign it began two thousand literal years ago .

We walk by faith not after the metaphors, the temporal

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Its standing on his unseen wisdom . Not our private interpretation. The witness of men .Without parables he spoke not. We who have been given the Armor defend the word of God. It as a shield of faith (the unseen) works in us to defend us.. . . as it is written. The witness of God.

Dave-L,

You aren't really responding to any challenges here. You just keep repeating what has already been challenged, with no new response.

That's where I'll leave it then.
Welcome to what many before you have already found out.

You tried..

Earth is temporal. His kingdom is eternal in the heavens.
You did not answer the question.

I'll try for the 4th time. When did Jesus Christ sit on King David's Throne?

You cannot possibly be saying King David sat on his throne in Heaven are you?

Why do people think Scripture gives them the authority to have private interpretations? The Word SPECIFICALLY says Jesus will sit on King David's Throne. David's throne was NEVER in Heaven.

Only if you can support it with direct quotes from scripture. None support a 7-year tribulation or pre-trib rapture.
So Daniel was wrong???

1000 years are not the kingdom.
The kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of God. We see this in Britain, Washington and Hong Kong. Beijing is starting to lose it's grip on China. Democracy is starting to spread like wildfire. People are beginning to taste real freedom.

The kingdom of God will not become his kingdom in this world. One world government was established in the garden . The kingdom of this world belongs to the god of this world. No peace as long as there is corruption.

When you don't take Scripture literally, you can make it say anything you want.

When Scripture is using symbolism, it will be clear from the context, usually the words "like" and "as".
Not necessarily. Jesus did say, "I am the door." Symbolism using "like" or "as" is called "simile". There are many other forms of figurative language and figures of speech.

The better way is to take literally those kinds of writing that are literal in nature, such as narrative, and to take figuratively those forms which are figurative, such as poetry.

If you can prove your claim of a 7-year tribulation or a pre-trib rapture using direct quotes, it is exegesis. If not direct quotes it is eisegesis.
It's not that simple. If it were, all translation would be eisegesis. Exegesis is "reading out" from the text, extracting what is there. Eisegesis is inserting ideas that aren't there. Good interpretation is primarily exegesis. However, eisegesis has a proper though very limited role, wherein the reader tests ideas against Scripture. You can paraphrase, restate, summarize, and expound without engaging in eisegesis.

Hebrews 4 is not symbolic or signified language. It's not talking about parables, but about the gospel itself, in plain text. The gospel was preached; some mixed the word of the gospel with faith and became believers, while some did not and remained unbelievers. The writer of Hebrews didn't say, "mixing faith"; rather, he said, "mixed WITH faith". The word of the gospel is mixed with faith to produce right belief in Christ as saviour. The gospel is not the result of mixing the word with faith, as you seem to think. There isn't an "unseen understanding" that you have and other Christians don't have.

" "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever." (Rev 11:15) We are entering into the kingdom age so we are beginning to see the Kingdoms of this world becoming the kingdoms of God.
