What is your argument finishing move, your best line to end an argument?

Mortal-Kombat-Finish-Him.jpg

Do you come out with something to totally rip your conversational opponent to shreds in a Fatality?

fatality.png

Do you have a good line that ends arguments on a positive note?

friendship.png

Or do you just throw out something crazy that you hope will confuse the other person in the argument and make him go away?

Tell us your favorite lines that are great for ending arguments!

(Forum members who spend a lot of time in the BDF should probably stay out of this one... because your immense argument experience leaves the rest of us at a severe disadvantage in this field.) :sneaky:

A favorite of teenagers is "Whatever!" It roughly translates as "I don't have a counter-argument, but I don't want to admit you are right."

One good Fatality move is to say duh. This attempts to make your conversational opponent look like an idiot, which substantially weakens anything else he might say. (Another teen favorite.) "Well everybody knows that, duh!"

I try to avoid arguments....for three reasons:

1. I'm a non-confrontational person by nature.

2. It's probably often that both sides will persistently think and insist they're right and neither will want to back down. So arguing can be pointless....or it can be as far as I'm concerned.

And the third reason....well, I avoid arguments like I avoid people in general. Don't want to deal with people and their crap. Can't argue when you're not around people or talking to anyone, right?

a person after my own heart, one who avoids confrontation and people. I have been self isolating since I was 7 years old, so this hoax doesn't bother me in the slightest. ( do miss my Road trips however )

Why does the introduction to this thread suddenly make me want to shout, "TEST YOUR MIGHT!!"

I don't know about a good finishing move, but I confess that I still have the theme song from the original Mortal Kombat movie in regular rotation on my playlist, even after all these years.

Yeah, well... I posted my own answer to this thread in Tammy's thread, because she started hers first. Granted it wasn't approved until after I had started this one, so I couldn't see it, but... hers was first.

(for people who constantly want to debate/argue points and refuse to listen)

I stop giving an opinions. Ask questions about how they feel/think about said topic, how they came to that conclusion, when did it happen, why this? why that? (even though inside i could care less and i don't agree). Basically what i do is make them feel validated while i burn them out verbally. When all is said and done they usually just skip off into the sunset thinking that they actually said something brilliant. I let them have their moment, and sometimes i might have learned something also.

I don't argue though.. If things get too heated i just walk off, even when im winning. It's not that im trying to be super noble or something, it's just that im extremely lazy when socializing and it costs me even more energy to argue.

(For trolls, haters, flamers and people who produce toxic destructive content)

"K" is my word, followed with eternal silence to that person as i am finished contributing into the conversation forever.
Let them continue to babble at you, listen and watch but give no real dialogue, no emotion, no response. Realize that the content they are producing is destructive to both people, but understand that the content is for them alone. Walk away while finding
something positive and relevant to you to focus on. They will self-destruct in their own time and you'll probably have forgotten about them by the time they do though.

I actually had to practice this not too long ago with a guy who kept flaming me. In silence I watched, i listened while they continued to hurl insults and accusations, i realized, and i walked away distracted by something better.A few days later i saw him again, except this time he was yelling and flaming someone else who had apparently got the best of him. It was kind of funny seeing him off in the distance looking all tiny and bitter while yelling about the position he had been put in. He saw me in the midst of it all as i walked past and had no words for me, go figure.

I dunno. Sometimes with people who have to get in the last word, I can't resist making comments over and over, just to see how far they will go to get that last word.

"C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!"

"SUPREEEME VICTORY."

I mean... Er... That's not keeping with the theme of the thread, is it? (Since it's not a Mortal Kombat reference...)

Alas, seeing as you've caused me to resort to throwing out declarations of conquest from an entirely different gaming franchise, this shall be my Last Word.

Maybe.
