I'm not "you guys". We are each individuals, and what one person believes cannot be attributed to another.

You are arrogant, claiming that you speak about what is spiritual and that "we" don't understand. It's far more likely that you're out to lunch, and that what you think is the truth is actually deception.

Again, if you are unable to make your point without criticizing others, demeaning them, implying that they are inferior to you, or are just plain 'carnal', your point is not worth making. This is a Christian discussion site, not an "I'm better than you and I'm going to make damn sure that you know it" site.

I had you pegged with your first couple of posts. I questioned your beliefs, and you didn't respond. You'll be banned soon enough.
I plan on leaving soon. I was going to do it last week. I'm going to ask if my account could be deleted because there's too many rude people here. I told a friend about this site today and he signed up today. I'm only hanging around for him.

Water baptism is not a commandment. Actually Jesus explains it simply in Act 1:5...
5because John baptized with water, but you will be baptized in holy spirit not many days from now.”
John baptized with water, BUT YOU will be baptized in holy spirit. The (but) implies John did it this way, BUT you will be baptized this way. To be born again is to confess Jesus as Lord and believe God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9,10) Baptism is equated to receiving holy spirit within, it is trusting with the heart. The proof over and over again in the book of Acts is shown. When they were baptized, they manifested holy spirit by speaking in tongues. You don't see much of that in the church today.

You say there are too many rude people on here. Often, when a person perceives many others a certain way, the problem is not with the others. You might want to consider whether you have been the rude one, and others are merely reflecting your attitude.

But then, you may just think I'm being rude in saying that.

Jesus COMMANDED us to baptize all nations. He was talking about water, which they did over and over again in the book of Acts in addition they also were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues, but baptism in water was still practiced and anyone who says it wasn't is being willfully deceitful with the scriptures. Probably belongs to a cult.

To be accurate, Jesus commanded the 12 to do so, just as he promised the 12 that they will be sitting on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel. That was why the 11 were quick to replace Judas with Matthias.

If the latter promise was not directed to us, why are you so sure that the former was to us?

I was not the first to call me a false teacher or that I was wrong or that I am working for the devil or am an ignorant person. I since 1975 have told people I disagree or I see something different or we don't agree. But on here they attack me personally and then call me rude when I stand up for what I post. I looked at the many people who have already left to learn they too wrote please take me off your mailing list because these people are not what I thought they were going to be like.

When you choose to participate in such forum discussions, that kind of response from others is beyond your control.

Take that as God training you to be patient and avoid responding like for like and you will be fine.

The folks here walk by their senses and that is not a put down. It's the truth.

There is no place where they baptized with water in the New Testament. You are adding water to the scriptures because you want it there.

I think it helps to realize that, many truths must be understood by the individuals at their own timing in life.

If you try to bring it out for them too quickly, not only might you be wrong, but even if it was true, it will be resisted anyway.

That is why the apostle Paul gave a very good advice for us in romans 12:18, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

You cannot control how others respond to you but you can control how you respond to others.

Well if you read scripture literally, Philip did baptize the eunuch with water.

Again, Philip was not a leader in the Church. If I baptize you and someone writes it down. Does that mean it is now God's will?

Here's some data on Baptism...
The question we must ask, and answer, is why did Jesus command his disciples to stay in Jerusalem? It was to wait for what the Father had promised, i.e., the gift of holy spirit. The disciples had already been baptized in water. If water baptism was all that was important and necessary for salvation, there would have been no need for the disciples to wait in Jerusalem or receive the gift of holy spirit. Sadly, many people reverse what Jesus said here in Acts. They say water baptism is essential for the believer and act as if baptism in holy spirit is not really essential but perhaps “nice to have,” or valuable in many ways. Jesus was teaching quite the opposite. He knew the disciples had already been water baptized. He also knew it would no longer be intrinsically valuable after the Church started on the Day of Pentecost. Thus, he commanded his disciples to stay in Jerusalem and receive baptism in holy spirit “because” John [only] baptized in water, but holy spirit was going to be first poured out in Jerusalem.

“with water.” The Greek is hudōr (#5204 ὕδωρ) in the dative, thus, “with water.” Thus it is clear that the element that people were baptized with was water. However, in the later part of the verse, the specific word “in” (en, #1722 ἐν) is used, emphasizing that the Christian is baptized “in” holy spirit. There is one baptism for the Christian, and it is spirit, not water (cp. Eph. 4:5). John’s baptism was a shadow of what was to come, and even John himself said this (Matt. 3:11; etc.). There is no reason to baptize in water today. Nevertheless, the practice continues, and sadly some even teach that it is necessary for salvation. [For more on baptism, see John Schoenheit, The History & Doctrine of Christian Baptism (Spirit & Truth Fellowship, 2011).]

“in holy spirit.” The Greek text has no article “the.” This holy spirit was the gift of God that He gave to some believers before Pentecost. [For more information on the holy spirit and uses of “holy spirit,” see Appendix 11, “What is the Holy Spirit,” and also see Appendix 6, “Usages of ‘Spirit’”].

really?

. . . that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word . . .
(Ephesians 5:26)
that's meaningless? huh. weird.

but you're still not giving an answer to my questions.
i really did have a reason for asking them.
here; i'll post them a fourth time:

  • what does water symbolize in scripture? and being immersed in it / passing through it?
  • i mean, why water -- why wasn't John sprinkling dust over people's heads, or rubbing figs on their feet or something?
  • why was Naaman healed by dipping 7 times in the Jor-Dan, the river flowing from Dan to the Dead Sea? why not stand on his head and recite a psalm, or give a burnt offering etc ?
if you don't understand the meaning & significance of water in scripture that's cool just say so.
perfectly understandable that you may have no spiritual knowledge of this, given your antagonistic position on water.

Somethings may be past our understanding for that age.
Why did Jesus get Baptized?

What we do know is it was to fullfill something...right?

John knew who He was when the spirit/dove came upon Him....was that so that Israrl would recognize him. It sure was an announcenent.

Almost seems like God annoiting Him king for a new era...but I dont know why I think that.

Did he need to be?

I think being converted by hearing the gospel in the twinkling of the eye (under ten seconds) ;)

The Eunuch like Philip had a desire as a member of the priesthood of believers to apply the ceremonial law as a shadow . So that he too like Phillip could plant the seed and water it with the doctrines of God in a living Hope Christ would apply it to the hearts of those who hear the call of faith. Away he went with his new tongue the gospel, preaching the good news.

1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

No man will be found with a self-righteousness edifying their own self.
