We know from the history of the church that the first churches after Christ were called Tne Way, and those churches were very different from our church today. We also know there was a tremendous change in the accepted way church members were to live after Constantine called the Nicene Council. Since that time the leadership of the church changed, and so did the church.

Is it OK to check on these changes and compare them with scripture or should be simply know that good men have done this already and go by what they decided?

We are faced with another change in the church brought on by the deep sea scrolls. They opened up knowledge of the times before Christ that had been lost over time, bringing about better understanding of the old testament. Some scholars have used this information as a better understanding of Christ. It is called the roots movement and accused of being a movement to advocate going back to how the world was before Christ came rather than a movement to better understand Christ. We know Christ changed some things, do they accept that or is it a movement to not accept Christ. One part of this discussion would be to look at the facts of this and determine what is correct.

Do you think it is best to leave everything alone, trust how it has been for years or is it best to go to scripture with our questions?

Is it okay to question church doctrine? Yes; in fact, it is good to check it against the word of God or, as you put it, "go to scripture with our questions".

It's also good to compare the teachings of "the roots movement" (or any other group) with the word of God, and to reject those teachings that contradict Scripture.

By the way, it's "the Dead Sea scrolls", not "the deep sea scrolls". ;)

Golly, if the first churches changed, and they continued changing until now,I believe this
would be due to human doctrine overcoming what was given by our Savior and His Twelve.

CAll me gaga, call me nuts, but I believe the Body of Jesus-Yeshua has always remained the same, always.

WE are to follow the BIBLE, not A Church, through the The dark days, the beast had control of the scriptures, and a lot of false doctrines came in by the Catholic Church, the ones the is in the golden cup in REVELATION, that go out to the whole world, AND YESUAH tells US to come out of them, and her. AND we can not come out of them till we find out where they are leading us out of what GOD'S WORD SAYS

There are none good according to Scripture, for God alone is good :)

Jesus asked, "Who do you say that I am?"

We need to answer this question for our self.

I haven't looked at the other posts in this string yet. I speak from over 39 years of experience and plenty of experience in the Televangelism field of work. I've heard an incredible ammount of bogus doctrines, idiots and conmen so I personally think that it's irresponsible not check what churches are teaching with the true word of the Bible.
King James Bible, Testing the Spirits:

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

The word of the Lord does remain the same, the Lord never ever changes. That Christ will forgive us of our sins, that Christ will live in us and the holy spirit guide us, this is a constant.

But other things have changed. All of our accepted Holidays have changed. Church has changed from small groups of people who truly cared for each other to large buildings with a Sunday sermon. A great divide has come about between the Jews and gentile. As I have studied what the roots movement is about, I found it was objected to mostly because they believe the old testament is truth from the Lord, and a shadow of Christ we need to study. The established church says no, they put too much emphasis on the old testament. These are examples. Is God interested in these changes, or is keeping to the basic gospel enough?

Most of the Epistles were written to and for us, Gentiles. His word to and for us (the New Testament) is enough for me.

I agree on this part, but we probably don't converge to the same point.
The most key change which was murderous, in my view, was turning Christianity into an institutionalized religious establishment, a culturally dyed and parochialized matter. It's not the Way anymore, because it's all about dogma belief system and "correct beliefs", which is why you're asking this question. When something is the Way it's more like a martial art it's about perfecting the internal practice and seeking those wiser than yourself to learn from. But it became about debating beliefs, and arguing who is practicing better than one another and who has it more correctly, who is right and who is wrong. Going back to Hebrew roots imo makes all this exponentially worse.

All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

EZEKIEL 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
EZEKIEL 18:26 When a righteous [man] turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
HEBREWS 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
HEBREWS 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Going to Christ for the forgiveness of sin is the first step, the essencial one. But it is only the first step in a life filled with the wonders of the Lord. If we stop there, we are cutting outselves from a world of wonders and good.

I did not go to the Lord seeking forgiveness. He came to me, and gave it.

It's not only good to question your churches doctrine, it's a requirement.
I think if your going to do so you need to really understand church history, over and against what your church teaches about church history. I think questioning doctrine but not questioning the narrative of history is just silly. Because our understanding of church history helps to shape our understanding of doctrine.
The good thing is, that we have the writings of 1st century pastors, and apologists, and theologians. What was written then about what was happening then is the best source of understanding the events. Also you must apply wisdom, and not engage in cognitive dissonance.
Example; trust in the authority of the Bible as we have it, yet Constantine corrupted the church at Nicea.

you mean " keeping the Law and the Sabbath" that is your wonders and goods.

this is the non-sense you Sabbath pushers come up with.

the truth ( something you care little about) is this-

a saved person will manifest the Fruits of the Sprit.

against those their is no Law.

and in those is no Sabbath keeping because it is not a part of salvation through faith in Christ.

well, since Jesus, being fully God, said to believe in Him for salvation, i think i will take His Word at face value, not your opinions of what you think one must do,
