God’s knowledge is of no benefit to us? That’s a strangethought. My phone is about to die, but I’ll respond later
I believe its reassuring to be convinced that prophecy confirms the reality of God. We can trust that the bible is of God and by God because of this evidence. But God knowing that i would stub my toe this morning was of little consequence to me as it happened .

the epistles of John are not just for the tribulation period. They are relevant in every era of Christianity.
1 John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him

1 John 3:
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

These verses are very destructive to any Christian now who is seeking assurance about salvation by faith alone in Christ finished work on the cross. John does not teach that.

only in the sense of awe and confirmation of how amazing God is . I like Jobs response in the end to all his questions .

Depends on your view of the rapture and the tribulation. Would you agree that scripture is needed for all periods ?
Yes. All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for all believers

Good response. In addition, our understanding of God should not be conditioned by what we think is beneficial to us. And if God didn’t have all knowledge, how could He be all wise? How could He be infallible in understanding?

Are you versed in Koine Greek tenses? Because those verses are not destructive to any Christian who rightly understands them.

I think comparing the fact that God knows a person will be saved and how He will use them and what He will call them to with God knowing you will stub your toe or what tie you’ll wear is a bad comparison.

Foreknowledge is always useful. knowledge, if it is coupled with righteousness and holiness, God is perfect in wisdom, knowledge, foreknowledge, and discretion.

We are no better off with this knowledge. It makes no difference to us .

We do not base our understanding of God on what we think would be beneficial to us. We did not create God for our benefit or pleasure. He created us for His Good Pleasure.

I think it makes a huge difference to know an all wise, all knowing God rather than a God who can’t see everything, including the future, and is limited in knowledge by our free choices. Your position only makes sense within the paradigm of open theism. So when you said you are not an open theist, you were showing that you have not really thought this through.

Your Calvin phobia has caused you to embrace and defend a system that is basically open theism.

Otherwise, you would not challenge the concept of unchanging, non evolving, perfect foreknowledge, and seek to replace it with ever changing, evolving, imperfect mere partial prescience as you are.

If you think God doesn’t foreknow who will be saved until they are saved, that is only consistent in open theism.

being ' elected ' to be saved does nothing for you either . Being predestined to be glorified does .

we don’t base our doctrine on what we think is most beneficial do we?

I just liked and replied to an old post in the “ Not of Works thread”. It is very close to what I believe (not entirely, but close.). Go check it out.
