I guess It's just not serious then to be led astray as well, and we should accept that to,

I'm going to take a little time to help you see something really important.

Nicotine is just as addictive as heroin and cocaine. When a smoker don't get a fix of nicotine the nature in a persons body becomes restless irritated or bad-tempered even angry, which means the fruits of the spirit is no longer controlling that persons' nature, a very powerful drug called nicotine is. This is very important to understand just how dangerous that is. Because when the fruits of the spirit are no longer controlling a person nature. A person is in spiritual trouble. Temptation then is so much harder to overcome and nicotene is as strong as that. The will of a person is then broken.

This is also very important to spiritual well-being and the fruits of spirit working as they should do in the body. This is why Jesus tells us the body is a temple for the Holy Spirit.

Drug addiction of the most addictive type, like nicotine, is something that starts with temptation from the devil. Smoking nicotine is the devils' invention to separate a person from the fruits of the spirit, which protect a persons very nature. Nicotine takes control of a persons nature and is an artificial substance, all people will get angry if they smoke and don't get their fix. This does not happen to people born again who don't smoke. When a person is controlled by addiction to drugs as strong as nicotine then they can also be controlled by Satan because the fruits of the spirit are no longer controlling the person's nature and temperament, nicotine is.

The full reality is for a smoker to keep their nature under control is they have to keep smoking or go through 3 to six months of withdrawals such is the power of nicotine addiction that smokers have withdrawals for months. This means it's a serious drug addiction just like heroin and cocaine it seriously controls the body which is a temple that the Holy Spirit should be controlling
I smoked for several years and when I decided to quit, I just quit. I did not suffer or have withdrawals. The "addiction" is all in your mind.

It all makes sense now. You don't want to quit, which is why you feel like pulling your hair out. If you don't want to quit, why are you? If you wanted to quit, it would be quite simple.

very Christian attitude.
The purpose of this thread is for many reasons, but most importantly to establish whether smoking drugs is a personal sin you can commit against your own body, rendering your body a slave to sin.

The nature of your body does indeed belong to yourself, everybody has their own nature. Your nature wants to control your own nature. And your nature will know when something else is trying to control your nature. It's a defense mechanism that the human body has. (the nature of your own body is not designed to let something else control it).
This why your body quickly adapts when a drug of some kind is trying to control the body. Your nature will try to overcome that which is trying to control your body.

Take drinking wine. Like you have a little drink of wine once in a whole year and all of a sudden you become overwhelmed with a merry feeling that feels wonderful. The next day, when you have that little drink of wine, you don't quite get that overwhelming feeling of feeling merry, that's because the nature of your body as quickly adapted to try to control an alien invasion of something else trying to control your nature. The body is trying to reject the wine.

In turn, you think you should have another drink to feel that wonderful feeling of being merry, etc.

After your second drink you feel merry, but the next day you have to drink more than two drinks of wine, and you don't quite get that merry feeling, this is because the nature of your body as already adapted to take control of your own nature, it's like a natural defense mechanism the same as if you get stung by an insect injecting an alien chemical to anyone point in your body, your body will automatically try to expel that alien chemical from the body.
This is the same for cigarettes, you find your self having more and more to feel that relaxed feeling that nicotine can bring, only with nicotine it wins and the nature of your own body can no longer take control its own nature.

The reality, you have now entered an alien funny farm that becomes the norm. As you smoke 20 cigarettes a day you enter your body into a funny farm. But the body soon knows no different and the funny farm becomes a normal reality to your mind, but to the body it still longs for its own nature to return to normal, this is why you will always get a feeling that smoking is just not right.

Jesus drank wine.
not grape juice.

so, having a glass of wine is not a sin.

it matters what the Bible says, and the words in the Bible have definitions.

we need you use them, not our opinions .

this thread is about your opinions. not Biblical facts.

Quitting when you’re older

According to the National Cancer Institute, being older creates both challenges and advantages when it comes to quitting.

  • The challenges: It's likely you've tried to quit before, maybe even more than once. Knowing how hard it is may make you feel discouraged about trying again. And if you’ve been smoking for a long time, it may be so much a part of everyday life, it’s hard to imagine quitting.
  • The advantages: Older adults have some strengths that younger people may not have, and they are strengths that can help them quit. Over their lifetimes, they have had lots of experience accomplishing difficult tasks. At this point in their lives, they are likely to be better prepared to quit smoking than when they were younger. They know quitting is tough, and they know it won’t be easy, so once they decide to try again, they may be more willing to work at it to make sure they succeed.
  • The immediate benefits: Soon after quitting you’ll notice your breath smells better, stained teeth get whiter, food tastes better, and everyday activities like climbing stairs might not leave you out of breath as much. You’ll also be protecting your loved ones from the dangers of secondhand smoke. And smoking is expensive. Calculate how much money you spend each month on cigarettes for extra motivation to quit.

your back to taking offence again not me as with others here. I posted you a nice reply. with no insults what so ever, however you have not returned the favor, and then proceed to shoot me in the head. anyhow drinking a little wine is not a sin, and no where have i said it is,

The bible does tho indeed quite clearly say drinking and getting drunk is a sin. which could be the same as smoking 20 cigarettes a day, but to be honest i think just one ciggarette a day is a much more harmful to your body than a little drink.

I've been there.
Stick with it, you should be past the worst of the physical addiction by now & you'll have to deal with the habit aspect.
There is the mind to deal with. If you've smoked for many years you have probably come to rely on the habit more than you realise. The anxiousness lasted me quite some time. About 8 weeks.

Have you had any nasal drip, sore throat or mucus yet?

I doubt anyone would argue that stopping smoking will benefit your health and that smoking causes serious harm to your health. That is a no-brainer. The issue is whether or not you WANT to quit.

There are two types of people. People who want to quit, do. People who don't want to quit, try.

If you make the decision you actually want to quit, then just do it and move on with your life.

It's not hard to do if you actually want to quit. I'm proof of that.

smoking cigarette is no joking matter.
Relax! The joke whoever thought it up makes a point! It's a foolish crazy thing for people to smoke and if people will condition their minds that it is just that it can be a strength to them to resolve giving it up.

Well,well,well do tell.........
Why is it when people think THEY have sinned then so must everyone else doing said sin be castigated?
I pray God will make you an overcomer since you feel so strongly about it!

Thank-you for the encouragement, I need it, thank-you. I just managed 20 minutes on an exercise bike it was so much easier than the last time I tried it, I was smoking then. I haven't had any of what you said yet. Im 21 days almost without a cigarette and i have found it mostly easy with the aid of nicotine patches. At the moment I'm ON the lowest dose patch which is 7 ml, I have 7 days left on 7 ml patches, and then its cold turkey, but i figure it should be easy as the 7lm patches is hardly anything at all, I've done the drop from 14 ml quite easily last week to 7 ml, so all in all quite good. But i couldn't understand why I had the most severe craving last night after 3 weeks.

It seems to have passed now, I'm so determined now after 3 weeks i don't want to slip up, so i am developing more and more will power, last night i had a demonic spirit tempting me over and over again to have one, and this morning will power a fruit of the Holy Spirit shone through, it was a breeze and I felt the power of demonic spirit go to absolutely nothing i saw it to. So I thought I would make a journal here and share my experience with fellow Christians

Glad to hear it. So, my suggestion is that you stop focusing on it. It reminds me of alcoholics anonymous meetings. The focus is always on the alcohol and "not drinking" anymore. This just keeps it alive in your mind. Since you have already made the definitive decision that you are done, start thinking about something else.

@de-emerald if you had come here in an humble mode instead of the way you came, you would have found MUCH ENCOURAGEMENT and help.

Please forgive any antagonistic words I wrote.
God made us to be overcomers in him and he does not fail.

I had a problem once that I took to the Lord and he spoke his word to me...as your faith so be it unto you.

Struggles take our mind off what we need to think on. Be strong for it is NOT by might nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord!
