We will just have to wait and see if God saves me then Zone, and believe me I WANT saving, but if it means that saving is still sinning, then sorry, I will look for a God that can actually save me from this dissappointment of being just another everyday sinner! If your God cannot save me from the PARTAKING in sin, then He is not good enough for me, and I will probably end up where I was heading in the first place.

If believing means, hey you will always sin, then I choose to be a nonbeliever, and I will try to be a good nonbeliever to show the believers that i even sin less than them, no matter what they say FAITH AND GRACE is... Remember the more grace we need the more pain we inflict on those that we sin against, then SAVED CHRISTIANS do the same to me as the unsaved people. What is the use of being Christian then?

Sorry if your God does not help me to be sinless then he is not good enough. Fortunately I know one that actually said... My son is glorified in all who I save! And that to me is "SALVATION FROM ALL EVIL" Even from the old raggy-tooth sin! I believe Jesus died for me, as well, and I believe His Gospel/Grace and blessings does not end there. I believe he was resurrected to SHOW me that He will give me a NEW life after his grace did the work it should... And that He will bless me with a baptism, then that baptism will SEAL ME IN HOLINESS! And that is what I hope for, NOTHING less! In that holiness I CANNOT SIN! Becasue I am DEAD for sin and this world! I DIED IN HIM AND HE CAME ALIVE IN ME...

He died 2000 years ago, but He was only made alive in me AFTER I DIED OFF THE SIN HE LEAD ME OUT OF! Soon! He said SOON! And Zone, Stange, EG, SOON I BELIEVE I WILL BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, TO BE A HOLY MAN OF GOD!!!! Like the 2 PETER 1:21 MEN! I believe this, and I believe then, and only THEN am I SAVED! I am being saved, at this moment, And my salvation is being done by the Holy Spirit, like all of you, but I believe and trust the Lord will do more that WASH ME ALL THE TIME! I believe after HE WASHED ME, He fills me! With Himself. becasue like Paul said... 17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world

Strange what do I want you to do to that can add to God's grace? Can I make a list? 1. Show your FAITH in GRACE! 2. Show your WORK in GRACE! 3. Sow God's GRACE, that you so RECIEVE! I cannot see it in you! I would like to SEE GOD'S Grace that you so advertize! I see it in MANY people but sorry Strange I do not see it in you!

I think people that KNOWS what God's grace is, show different spirit than what you show! It is as if GOD'S GRACE changed them from this false sence of secureness to a TRUTH SPIRIT and LIFE in HOLINESS! I Know MANY of these people, so even if I name then you will still pull them apart, even though you do not know them.

I know many people that are so different than what the others are. I know two groups of people.... one group sin, and the other does not! One group claim they are Christians, the other I know is JESUS! I KNOW them Strange, I talk to them, I shake their hands, and I beg them to remember me when they pray. If you do not know any of these people, I really feel for you, and I hope you will soon know at least one! And a better hope... I hope you are the first one you know that JESUS FILLS!

May the Lord bless you, and may HIS will be done in you Zoney, Strange and EG, may God see your hearts and take them and put in you a new heart and a new spirit, that CAN ONLY OBEY HIM! And may He not forget my desire of the same heart,

I pray... LORD TAKE AWAY OUR STONY HEARTS, AND PUT IN US A FLESHLY HEART AND A NEW SPIRIT THAT WILL KEEP US TO WALK IN YOUR STATUTES, AND WE WILL KEEP YOUR JUDGEMENTS AND DO THEM.... PLEASE LORD DO THIS FOR ALL OF US HERE IN THIS THREAT. LET US LOVE EACHOTHER AS YOU LOVE YOUR SON, AND AS HE LOVES YOU. AMEN!

Wait...what? I don't get what you're saying....it sounds like you're saying you're trying to be sinless. If that's the case, then I'm sorry, but you're setting your standards too high. Yes, as Christians we have to set a higher standard for our lives than the world's, but that doesn't mean we will be sinless. We're HUMAN. Not angel, not God, but HUMAN. Humans that have messed up, and are in need of a Savior. Yes, we need to have a change of heart, and we need to stay away from sin. But unfortunately, we're not always going to stay away. Unfortunately, our flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:41

41 Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Saying that being Christian means being sinless is like...saying that Satan isn't bad.

All Christians must die!! All Christians must die to the ways of this world. Any Christian whose life is of the world is NOT a Christian, but will perish with the world.
Any Christian who wants to hold on to the old pleasures will not inherit the kingdom of God. Any Christian who continues in Sin will end up in hell. If your flesh does not die, you will not live! And if you die in your sin, you will not live!!

If you do not die, you have no fellowship with Jesus, and you are not a part of him, and you never were. Every Christian must die. His flesh must die, and his blood must be spent. Then his flesh will be restored, and the blood will restore his flesh to life!!

If anyone wants to live, he must kill his flesh and be drained of his own blood. And then he must eat the flesh of Jesus Christ, and drink his blood. If a Christian does not do this, he will perish.

If a Christian is not crucified, even as violently as Jesus was, then he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus Christ MUST be the Christian's ONLY life! Nothing but him, living in you. No other life, but his. My life must die, so that I can be resurrected to a new life in Christ. Until then, I am dying. May the Lord let me be crucified with him, so that I can also live with him.

May Jesus bless you.
Amen bro, excellent word.

Setting your standards to high????? There is no such thing. Whether we reach the standard or not, Christ has set the bar for us, and tells us the Matthew 5 that we are to be perfect as Christ is perfect, and John tells is in 1st John that we are to be like Christ in this world. Paul tells us in many place through out the N.T. to be blameless, and to sin not. Were Jesus and the Apostles all mistaken. the idea that we must continue in sin is a post modern philosophy, not scripture.

I'd really like to see where you're coming from in God's Word, Cobus.
With men most things are impossible, but with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. You read also that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, and that is true, yet, with God it is possible.

There is no standard to high for God. If we say God is powerful, why would we limit him to our own faults. This is not faith, but doubt. Is it you that works, or Christ that works in you? If it is Christ, then nothing is to hard for him. And Paul and I, and Cobus and others also set our eyes to the HIGH CALLING IN CHRIST JESUS!!

We are called, chosen, OUT of the world. We are called to walk in dominion OVER the things of the earth. This makes people nervous, and especially Satan, because when we are entirely from his grip, the most he can do to stop us is kill us. And also you read, whoever is persecuted and suffers for this gospel has ceased from sin. So I welcome that suffering that was in Christ also. I welcome the cross. In the same way of Christ, I can choose to die, but that same Spirit that was in Christ can raise me from the dead.

Indeed ALL POWERS, and ALL PRINCIPALITIES answer to Jesus. This works thing people talk about is an excuse not to be righteous. But they are the ones who are trying to earn their own salvation by works of their own. But the salvation of God is by the work of Christ, who works in us, to shape us into his image, in this earth, as we are be perfected in heaven.

May Jesus bless you.

Yes, we need to have a change of heart, and we need to stay away from sin. But unfortunately, we're not always going to stay away. Unfortunately, our flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:41

This is exactly why we need to Crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:

Romans 6
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Galatians 5: 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Hence the title of the thread....''All Christians must die''

It amazes me how so few in the church today seem to understand the biblical concept of consecration. Consecration is the act of setting oneself apart from selfish lusts and ambition in favor of being used for God's purposes. It is widely accepted and taught among the majority of Christians that consecration is the prerequisite for the process of sanctification.

Consecration

By Rich Deem

Introduction

Consecration is a sort of "old-fashioned" term. It is found most often in the Bible in the Old Testament in reference to items that are to be set apart as holy for the purposes of worshipping God. It is also used to describe the setting apart of the priests, who are to be consecrated to the Lord. Although the word is not used extensively in the New Testament, it occurs in reference to the consecrated bread,1 and is applied to individuals and the purposes of God.2 However, for Christians, consecration is not optional, since we are all priests for God.3

Jesus and consecration

Jesus proclaimed the doctrine of consecration throughout His ministry. All that we own and all our relationships are to be consecrated to God so that they do not become idols in our lives. No thing or person is to be held above our relationship with Jesus Christ. The classic example is shown in Jesus' dialog with the young rich ruler (Luke 18:18-27).4 This ruler asked the question, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Although we cannot discern his attitude from his voice, we sense a potential insincerity in his question from Jesus' response to it. Jesus' first response was to challenge his sincerity in using the word "good" to describe Him. As the Son of God, Jesus was "good." However, if the ruler thought of Him as just another teacher, he would have never called Him "good," since God alone is good. Jesus then challenged Him with the ten commandments (actually, only five of them). The ruler had the audacity to say that he had kept them all from his youth. The ruler's response showed a problem with his attitude, since nobody has kept all the commandments "from his youth." Jesus knew from his attire and possessions that the ruler was wealthy and that this wealth was an idol that had become more important to him than God. So He told the man to sell all his possessions, give the money to the poor, and follow Him. At this point, the innocent "question game" had turned deadly serious, and the ruler realized that Jesus was correct in His prescription for his life. However, the wealth was more important to the man than following Jesus, so he sadly turned away.

The disciples, thinking that Jesus' prescription was meant for everyone, thought that nobody could be saved, since nearly everyone has possessions that they are unwilling to give up. However, Jesus was not proclaiming salvation through works or deeds, but reliance upon God. Jesus' response to their question of who can be saved was, "The things impossible with men are possible with God." Salvation is a work of God and requires only faith in His promises.

The Christian and what's important

The picture at the right is our youngest son, Mark, as he packed to go camping last summer. He packed everything he was going to need - Spiderman, his long truck and a backpack full of toys. Obviously, Mark was taking what he thought would be important, although he would have been completely unprepared for what was to come. To a large degree, we Christians can be like that. Nearly every Christian has idols in his life. For some, it is money or material possessions.5 For others, it is relationships with other people. To some, their parents,6 children,6 or spouse,7 can be an idol (more important than God). Others are so concerned about themselves that their own love of their life is an idol before God.7 Contrary to what many people present, Christianity is not just a casual acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior. Jesus will accept you exactly as you are. However, He doesn't want you to stay that way.8 Jesus cannot be your Savior if you don't make Him Lord (master or boss) of your life. Jesus said that all His disciples must "take up their cross daily."9 In the current era, this statement has been interpreted as enduring anything the world has to offer in terms of ridicule, harassment, etc. However, the original meaning was not quite so innocent. At the time of Jesus, taking up a cross meant going to one's death by means of crucifixion. That this was what Jesus was trying to convey is indicated by His following statement, "For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it."9 Paul tells us that it is God's will that we give ourselves "first to the Lord,"10 that we offer our bodies as "instruments of righteousness,"11 which is our spiritual act of worship."12

Conclusion

Consecration is the act of setting oneself apart from the world to become dedicated as an instrument of righteousness for the purposes of God. True Christianity is a radical commitment to Jesus Christ, not just going to church on Sundays. If you desire to become a man or woman of God, consecrating yourself to Him will reap the rewards of entering into His wonderful light!

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

  4. And a certain ruler questioned Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. "You know the commandments, 'DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'" And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth." And when Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess, and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But when he had heard these things, he became very sad; for he was extremely rich. And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God! "For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." And they who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" But He said, "The things impossible with men are possible with God." (Luke 18:18-27)

"And another one said, 'I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.' (Luke 14:20)
  8. But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:57-62)
  9. Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it. For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:24-26)
And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's shall save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:34-36)
And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?" (Luke 9:23-25)
  10. And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. (2 Corinthians 8:5)
  11. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. (Romans 6:13)
  12. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1)

You know...Paul sinned too even after he was saved. Jesus was the only one that was perfect.

Did I say you should continue in sin? No. I didn't say "Go ahead and sin. Doesn't matter anyways. Jesus saved us. So sin all ya want!!" (read my other post, or look up Romans 6. It doesn't matter which, because they would both be the same. Different translations, maybe. But same chapter. Same verses.) What I said is it's impossible for man to be sinless. We're not always going to do the right thing. We're not going to be sinless. We have been given grace. But does that mean we should always do the same sin over and over? Noooo way! We may have been given grace, but don't take advantage of it. We are to abstain from all appearances of evil.

Also, you took out quite a bit of my post.

So set a high standard for your life, but don't expect yourself to be all sinless, all the time. Because sometimes, we're going to fall into sin's trap.

And what I was saying about the last part?

It's what I meant about earlier. You're not always going to get it right. You're going to mess up. We live in a fallen world. And so, seriously think. If right after we gave our life to Jesus, we were sinless. Where would our daily reliance upon Him be? We wouldn't need to rely upon Him. He would just be....there. He would be worthless after that. (once again. Just an example.)

You know what the true meaning of "sin" is? It's actually a term used in archery. It means "missing the mark of perfection." We already did that when we sinned for the first time in our lives. We can't make it right to God. There had to be a perfect and holy sacrifice, which is where Jesus came in. And of course you know the rest. He came, He died, He rose again, so we could have eternal life. We have been given grace. But once again, I'm not saying you should take advantage of that grace. So that's all I have to say.

John 17
15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

2 Peter 1
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Please understand that for majority of us, 'death to self' does not imply sinless perfection but rather the act of consecration. I encourage you to read my most recent post in order to get a better idea what death to self should really mean to the common Christian.

It amazes me how so few in the church today seem to understand the biblical concept of consecration. Consecration is the act of setting oneself apart from selfish lusts and ambition in favor of being used for God's purposes.
My church teaches quite a bit on that

.
and if anyone does, they can repent and ask Jesus to speak for them.

1 John 2:1
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

And pray that God give them faith to overcome and turn from disobedience and break free of the chains of sins and walk in the good works and towards the upward call of God through His strengthening and mercy and grace.
