Just wanted to share some insight. Sorry it is so long.

Humble - awareness and acknowledging God's love for us (even while we were sinners) and our dependency on God for existence, aware of the infinite value God places on us and others which causes us to be very thoughtful and kind toward others and ourselves and respond to God with great love for Him and great value for others.

Sinner/Martyrdom Mentality - awareness and acknowledging God's judgment against us because of our sin that we refuse to let go of (forgive ourselves) because we're trying to figure out some kind of "work" we can do to save ourselves or punish ourselves. It is self-focused and only sees the bad - a depressed place, full of shame. The only pleasure the "sinner/martyrdom mentality" gets is when something bad happens to them and they believe they deserved it and God is punishing them which satisfies their need for "works". It is bondage.

Pride is total focus on self - very selfish. Pride blinds us to God and others. We exalt our wants and needs above others. If it doesn't get what it wants, it throws a temper tantrum, seeks revenge, lies, steals, hates, etc. Pride is NEVER satisfied.

However, pride cannot exist where true humility thrives. A grateful heart focused on God and overflowing with thankfulness for all His goodness just showers love on God, others and ourselves in a very fun, life-giving way! Pure joy at it's finest!

Self-righteousness can occur when we start keeping track of all our "good works" and what we think are the "good works" of others. Doing this causes us to enter into comparing, be judgmental and/or critical of others. We start to compare ourselves with others and someone gets condemned - either them or us. It is very self absorbed (not focused on God at all) and keeps track of all their "good works" as badges of honor so they can "earn" righteousness. It is bondage also.

So, keep your identity "in Christ" with a grateful and thankful heart and you will live in peace with God, others and yourself - no worries of pride, sinner/martyrdom mentality or self-righteousness! Even if other people judge you and call you all kinds of evil things, you will be at peace! (Knowledge, understanding, wisdom and discernment are very important - they come in time as we mature.)

We're all under construction, God's not finished with us yet. God knows we still trip and fall into sin but we have power now to overcome! Just keep going - fight the good fight of faith!

we definitely don't want that sinner/martyrdom mentality, because it sounds like that kind of mentality will throw happiness in front of a bus for the sake of ... on second thought the reaction we would ask out of concern is "why?"

Hi anointed,

Why? Because we don’t want that “sinner/martyrdom mentality” because it causes us to become self absorbed and ashamed of whatever we did and we don’t want to face it, so we try to hide it or hold on to it thinking that if we suffer for it enough then we’ll feel better, but we don’t because the ONLY way to truly be free is............forgiveness.

Receive God’s forgiveness for my sin AND forgive myself. God no longer holds it against me, neither should I.

Make peace with God and myself. ❤️

Very recently it occurred to me that many of us get so upset with the sins of others, and it came to me that the people who do this are actully concerned about themselves.

When we pass on and spread the mercy we have received, we never need to concern ourselves with the faults of others for when we pass on forgiveness, we are forgiven…...Jesus is always the response to any question of i mercy to all, and to urselves, amen.

Speaking of forgiveness... I recently got some insight... there's a secret to forgiveness. Most of us only do the part one and not part two...

Part One - I am to choose to forgive others for their offenses against me in their thoughts, words or deeds.
Part Two - I am to ask my Father in Heaven to also forgive those that have hurt me.

I learned this because I was going to have to be around others that had hurt me in the past and I knew I had forgiven them but, I just couldn't shake that "icky" feeling of being around them.

I asked my Heavenly Father, "Why can't I get rid of this icky feeling, I don't want to feel this way when I am around them. I don't hold anything against them, I hope they do well. Father, I keep forgiving but I don't feel any better. Help me."

Father God answered,
"Yes, you have completely forgiven them, that is true and is good but, you haven't asked Me to forgive them. They are still in trouble with Me. If you want to truly be completely free, you need to also ask Me to forgive them. When I forgive, I know how to forget. I can help you forget and only have good thoughts of them. I will forgive them, if you ask Me to do so. Otherwise, they are under my judgment and I will take vengeance on them and recompense you. But, you know Me.... I'd rather have mercy on them and hope that you would desire to give them mercy, too by asking Me to forgive them.

Also, when I forgive them, it removes their sin which separates them from Me. With their sin removed, their eyes can open and light has a chance to enter them... and if you keep praying for them, together, we can snatch them away from the enemy that wants to destroy them."

Hallelujah! Now I understand why Jesus, while on the cross, asked His Father to forgive them because they do not know what they are doing.

Also, Stephen asked that the sin of those stoning him would not be held against them. Stephen was asking God to forgive his killers while they were killing him. Our enemies are not going to repent and ask God to forgive them, so we need to ask God to forgive them and remove their sin in hopes that they can then receive God's Truth - the Gospel of Jesus Christ for Salvation.

If we truly know our Father in Heaven, then we know that His Mercy triumphs over His Judgment. So, let's forgive our enemies and ask our Heavenly Father to do the same!

Is this Biblical? Can you provide the scriptures where this is being talked about and discussed?

I know we are meant to ask for forgiveness and pray for our enemies and the lost, but I don't believe I've ever read asking the lord to forgive others for their sins to remove Gods judgement from their lives.

I would like to research and study on this, if you could point me in the right direction.

Hello @JohnnyValentine

Yes, it is Biblical... but, it is hidden in the scriptures. God does not command us to ask Him to forgive our enemies however, what did Jesus Christ ask His Father to do while He was dying on the cross....

Luke 23:33-35 (NKJV)
33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.
34 Then Jesus said,Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

and what did Stephen ask the Lord to do while he was being stoned to death?

Acts 7:59-60 (NKJV)
59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he (Stephen) knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

It's a secret hidden in the scriptures.... hidden manana.

Jesus Christ was dying on the cross to save those that were killing Him.... yet, why did Jesus know there was still a need for Him to ask His Father to forgive them because they don't know what they are doing? Somehow, Stephen had learned this secret, too because he did the same thing Jesus did for his killers.

Total Forgiveness has two parts:

Part I - I forgive my enemies.
Part II - I ask my Heavenly Father and my Lord Jesus Christ to also forgive my enemies.
