Hey Everyone,
A quick Google search defines "alter ego" as: "an alternate self, believed to be distinct from a person's normal or original personality."
For the purposes of this thread, let's loosely define this as a side of yourself that might not come come out that often, that most might not be familiar with, but that is triggered by specific things or circumstances other than usual everyday life.
For example, I had a college professor who said her children were very aware of her "regular mom voice" and manner versus her "scary mom voice" and mannerisms, as well as the things that would cause it.
A while back, a good friend texted something especially thoughtful -- I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was something that I found to be extra kind and considerate.
I answered with a warning: "OH NO!!! You have just automatically activated my PRINCESS MODE!!!"

In Princess Mode, I will, naturally, feel compelled to start barking orders, insist that my way is the best (and only) way, and as could be expected, demand that people start waiting on me hand and foot.
Now of course, I was joking. OR WAS I??!!!
(The people here who have met me in person, such as @Lynx, @cinder, @RodB651, etc., might be able to tell you just how SEVERE my Princess Mode really is!!)
Alas. I can't say exactly what activates my Princess Mode, but my poor, unfortunate friend said they were pretty sure they could handle it!!
Thankfully, my episode didn't last very long -- and we have still managed to be friends.
How about YOU?
* What "alter egos" or modes do you have? A calm, everyday mode? A scary, catch-everyone-off-guard mode? A cookie monster who goes on a snack rampage? A gamer who goes into alternating "hyper" and "rage" modes depending on how your play is going? A parent who has various modes for various situations? An employee who can be calm as a cucumber one minute, but will go into "battle mode" if X, Y, or Z happens? A "concentration" mode that gets a little out of hand?
* What "activates" or brings on your different alter egos/modes, and why?
* How long do these modes/appearances last?
* What eventually brings them to an end?
* Are there any of your modes that you are especially fond of -- that you wish you could keep on rolling with -- and why?
(I have to admit, the one good thing about my Princess Mode is that it sometimes helps me come up with better quips and jokes than usual!)
