How can they speak for themselves if you are not showing the entire context. There are many laws in Scriptures, the Scriptures tell us which law and circumcision is not the Ten Commandments, the priesthood, is not the Ten Commandments. Yes, the Scriptures speak for themselves when we provide the entire context. Taking verses out of its context that doesn’t show the law its referring to and trying to apply it to another law that is not stated, while we have free will and can do what we want, its not really wanting to understand the will of God.

According to the Bible Paul does not speak plainly hence

2Peter3:15and consider that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 ;as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

Considering there is a salvation warning here, I would be very cautious of trying to make Paul countermand the teachings of Jesus Christ. That’s me, we have free will so I guess we will agree to disagree all will get sorted out soon enough.
The Spirit speaks through Paul, it’s not Paul doing things on His own.

You quoted Paul and Paul is misunderstood, but I agree let Him speak.

This is what God said:

Psa 89:34 My covenant I will not break,
Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

So Paul a servant of God will never teach against this. In order for the law of God to fail- heaven and earth have to pass, they are still here so therefore not a jot or tittle can pass from the law of God.

So now that we have established what God has said lets compare this to Paul.

What law is Paul referring to here- he states so in this very chapter- can you tell me what it is?

What law is Paul speaking of here- can you show me by the Scriptures.

What did the priesthood have to be changed- can you tell me why through the Scripture which literslly tells why in the verses that you did not quote.

The same law being spoke of can you tell me why through the Scriptures?

Hebrews 7 is about one law and you edited out the law its referring to and why its better.

Did you know not one of these verses says not to obey the Ten Commandments- Do you really like only worshipping God our Creator is the law that is a yoke of bondage and not the law of sin and death? We can make any case we want by plucking a verse here and there but if we leave out the context, we are leaving God's Truth and instead making our own doctrines and not God's.
Zero misunderstanding! God is speaking through His apostles:

*-"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace."
Galatians 5:1, 4 NKJV

-"For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.""
Galatians 5:13-14 NKJV

-"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself.""
Galatians 5:14 NKJV

*-"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law."
Galatians 5:18 NKJV

-"As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation."
Galatians 6:12-13, 15 NKJV

The Sabbath is not "my doctrine" it came straight from God, written by God, spoken by God. All of the Ten Commandments came with capital punishment not just the 4th. The wages of sin is death Rom6:23 even in the NT 1John3:4 James2:11 Mat5:19-30

Jesus is trying to change our heart, so we would want to spend holy time with Him on the day He made for us Mark2:27 set aside from Creation Exo20:11 to do so, to bless Isa 56:2 and sanctity us Eze20:12 , because can't do this ourselves. Isa66:17 we need God Eze20:20

God says we join ourselves to the LORD when we keep the Sabbath Isa 56:6, man says its a yoke of bondage to spend holy time with God. There are more important things to do with my time. I'll spend time with God on my terms, not His.

Sadly, its the same story Eze20:13 Eze20:15-16 different day.
-"Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,"
Philippians 3:2-3 NKJV

-"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God."
Colossians 2:16-19 NKJV

There is a lot of context Paul gives us in this passage.

There are several different Sabbaths in the Bible that uses the same word, but has very different meanings.

There is the seventh day Sabbath- instituted at Creation Exo20:11 Gen2:1-3, came before sin, reaffirmed in the Ten Commandments Exo20:8-11, written by God personally Exo31:18, placed inside God’s ark Exo40:20 God called it “the holy day of the Lord” Isa58:13

There are the annual sabbath(s) feast days that are always tied to animal sacrifices, they don’t always fall on the seventh day can be on any day and came after the fall and were handwritten by Moses, placed besides the ark of God’s covenant came after sin.

  • 1st day of Unleavened Bread
  • 7th day of Unleavened Bread
  • Pentecost
  • Trumpets
  • Day of Atonement
  • 1st day of Tabernacles
  • 8th day of Tabernacles
We see these in Leviticus 23 and these are additional feasts besides the Sabbath of the Lord- the seventh day Sabbath Lev 23:37-38

There is the Day of Atonement Sabbath where fasting is required Lev16:31 Lev 23:27-32
There is the seventh year Sabbath that is every 7th year where the land should rest Lev25:1-7
The Jubilee Sabbath (50th) year Lev 25:8-17

So I think we are being quick to assume by seeing the word Sabbath that has different meanings and assuming it means the Holy Day of the Lord that comes with God's blessing and sanctification , without looking at the context that Paul carefully gave and we should let the Bible interpret itself.

Col 2:14 KJV Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross.

Col 2:14 NASB having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Greek word for handwriting: χειρόγραφον (cheirographon)
Literally: “something written by hand

Ordinances
τοῖς δόγμασιν (tois dogmasin)
Meaning: “decrees,” “regulations,” “legal demands”

It is a legal document that condemns sinners why Paul used the word “against us” and “contrary to us”. The law does not condemn the righteous, it condemns the sinners.

Just from this context that Paul gave we can eliminate the Ten Commandments, but lets let Scripture interpret Scripture.

Who wrote the handwritten ordinances?

2 Chron 33:8 and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers—only if they are careful to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.

What law is the law that was contrary and against?

Deut 31:24-26 So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: 26 “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you;

It appears from the text that this is not referring to the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments that was written by God Himself by His finger Exo31:18 placed inside the ark of the covenant, not besides like the annual sabbath(s) connected to animal sacrifices.

This is the law that was taken away at the Cross.

Col 2:16 let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

This is the exact language referring to the annual sabbath(s) that were handwritten by Moses, placed besides the ark that refer to annual feasts days, sacrifices and offerings that some were also called sabbath(s)

Eze 45:17 and it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

What did Jesus say He would come to put an end to? (compared to magnifying another law- by placing it in our hearts Isa42:21 Heb8:10)

Dan 9:27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

Col 2:17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ

What are the shadows laws? Lets let the Scriptures define what they are

Heb 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once []purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

5 Therefore
, when He came into the world, He said:

“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ ”

8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, []O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been []sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all

This fits the context of this passage perfectly and makes the Bible harmonize because we see Sabbath-keeping (every Sabbath) 30+ years after the Cross just as Jesus Himself indicated Isa 56:6-7 Acts 13:42, Acts 13:44 Acts 15:21 Acts 18:4 and up to His Second Coming Mat24:20-30 and forever Isa66:22-23

The Spirit speaks through Paul, it’s not Paul doing things on His own.
Of course, but Paul is still misunderstood so much so his writings came with a salvation warning of misapplying. 2Peter3:16 Trying to make him teach against Christ is not what Paul did, its what he warned about. Its not Paul's writings that are the issue, the issue is what it says twisting them out of context that makes it not according to Christ. Everything is according to Christ, not man. When reading Paul reconcile to Christ not the other way around.

Col 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

If we do this and make everything according to Christ, it will lead us back to reconciliation. According to Christ we worship Him in vain when we keep the laws of the world over the commandments of God as Jesus quoted directly from the Ten Commandments Mat15:3-14 Mark7:7-13 anything else is not according to Christ.

Can you please explain to me how the commandments that start with only worshipping God our Creator, personally written by the Holy Spirit that is holy just and good Rom7:12 is the law you think Paul is speaking of as the yoke of bondage. Can you make your case with clear Scripture this is the law Paul is referring to?

Show me by the context of this passage in Gal 5, that Paul is referring to the law in Ten Commandments.

Show me by the context of this passage in Gal 5, that Paul is referring to the law in Ten Commandments.

Basically with this misunderstanding of Scripture Paul is teaching that Jesus who is God placed people in a yoke of bondage and only worshipping Him or keeping His name holy , not murdering our neighbor or committing adultery or breaking the least of these commandments as Jesus taught us to keep and teach others to keep Mat5:19-30 , but Paul had to save us from Christ and what He taught to do if we love Him John14:15 Exo20:6 but its not really love that Christ asks, but a yoke of bondage to obey God. I see why there is such a strong warning about what people would do to Paul's writings in Scripture, it makes me wonder if those who make these argument even read the Bible or just do a word search and leave out all of the context and never try to see how it compares to what God said, as if the servant became God's corrector.

What is it you don't understand about God writing His laws on tablets of stone and than writing it in tablets of the heart?
I was inviting YOU to explain how we can get the word to move from tablets of stone to the "tablets of the heart"
The agreement is obsolete because it was void and broken by the people. God promised not to change the words of the covenant Deut4:13 Psa 89:34 not a jot or tittle Mat5:18-19 why the New Covenant still has God's Laws Heb8:10 but written in the mind so we know to do them and written in our heart because we love Him Heb8:10 we enter this covenant by faith. Sadly many people refuse His laws just like the Israelites that never made it into the promise land. We still have ours to enter Rev14:12 Rev22:14NKJV

The agreement is obsolete because it was void and broken by the people.
Do you really believe this? Is the law forbidding murder rendered obsolete because some society disobeys it?
I thought all God's laws were eternal and could never be altered or abrogated. BTW I do not think God has ever changed the moral law. Even when humanity reached its lowest level of depravity (in Genesis 6:5), God still judged them according to the moral law

Heb8:10 we enter this covenant by faith. Sadly many people refuse His laws just like the Israelites that never made it into the promise land. We still have ours to enter Rev14:12 Rev22:14NKJV
Here you use Hebrews 8:10 to imply that you believe we are saved by a combination of FAITH and WORKS [of the Law]
which was the same thing the Judizers believed. This group was opposed by Paul in his letters. For instance, when he wrote to the Galatian Church Paul said
…15We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile “sinners” 16 KNOW that a man is not JUSTIFIED (made righteous and acceptable to God) by works of the law (such as keeping Shabbat), but by FAITH in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified (Romans 3:20)
The Messianic gospel of salvation preached by Jesus and His Apostles was that anyone can be saved if they REPENT of their SIN and put their FAITH in Jesus Christ.

Hebews 8:10 says that the PRIOR COVENANT (the one established with Israel through Abraham and Moses) has now become obsolete and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
Obsolete means it no longer serves the original purpose for which it was intended. Therefore, the original covenant has been ABROGATED, abridged and replaced by the establisment of an entirely new covenant. "Being abrogated" means that it has been replaced and is no longer in force. The Bible says that the the Old Covenant failed because it could not change human nature. It was only meant to restrain evil but it did not have the power to overcome the evil powers that were in control.

Only people who have been "re-born by the Holy Spirit" can receive a new nature that can obey God. Though you profess to believe that people enter the new covenant by FAITH you quickly abandon all the talk about FAITH and the SPIRIT when it comes to HOW we can actually yield to the Spirit. Then you revert to the perspective of someone who not connected to Vine but who is trying hard to reform himself behavior by the effort of his will and mind. This is the Law.

This is completely contrary to what it means to be abiding in the Vine. Branches have no power to independently produce fruit apart from remaining in relational union with the Vine (Who is Jesus).
Jesus put it this way:
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit OF ITSELF, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me (John 15:4) He also explained our relationship with Him in these terms:
5“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing
(John 15:5)

What strong warnings were given to us about Paul's writings? What was the specific content of these "warnings?"

Peter who knew Paul personally and had read his letters had this to say: …15 Consider also that our Lord’s patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. 16 He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
(2 Peter 3:15-16)
Peter said that "ignorant and unstable people" would not understand what Paul wrote.

1. Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him
Here we see that Peter believed that Paul's writings came from the wisdom God granted to him
(That does not sound like a "warning")
2. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand,
Does the fact that some PARTS of Paul's letters were "hard (for Peter) to understand" mean that they were false or heretical. Do we always understand a passage of scripture without having to ponder and study it? Also we have to remember that Peter had been a fisherman while Paul had been educated in the Law.
3. Therefore, beloved, since you already know these things, be on your guard so that you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure standing.…
It is possible that some mistook the message of grace for lawlessness. In fact, Paul himself dealt with that possibility.
4. The scripture warns us that IGNORANT and UNSTABLE people would "distort and the scriptures" as they do all the rest of the scriptures. Your own inability to understand and accept what is written in the word as truth suggest that you might fall into this category.

So you say keeping the Sabbath is work- God said it is rest. See how easy it is to see how we misunderstand Paul when we try to use him as God's corrector.
I never said it was work in the sense of labor. “Works of the law” are the actions performed to fulfill the Mosaic Law found in the first five books of the Old Testament. These "deeds were considered to he required and meritorious in gaining right standing with God. These type of "works" included
A. Keeping the Sabbath,
B. being circumcised (the issue before the Galatian churches),
C. eating “clean” foods, and other ceremonies
D. In addition, it meant following the morality of the law (not murdering, not committing adultery, not stealing)
The belief was that doing these things can make us right in God’s eyes. However, no action on the part of sinful creatures can result in God’s declaring them to be righteous in His sight.

When Solomon exclaimed that everything was futile, he wasn't kidding. There's a lesson in that I could share, but...

The “Yoke of bondage” refers to the OC. He doesn’t want the Jews to go back to living under it.

Deut 31:24-26 So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: 26 “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you;

Dan 9:27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;

Well written
If only people would see how clear it is.
I honestly feel that there is a stubbornness that people have which causes them to not see the truth, and only see the verses the way they want to see. Only see things that say what they want to believe..

Many questions and plain truths are ignored and people go back to their reasoning which is often out of context.

Sadly they will continue to only see things the way they want to see it because they will not soften their hearts.

Around and around we go.....

Jer 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

Isa 30:9-10
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

They refused to hear the law and they told the prophets to speak lies and smooth things..

Like today... 2Ti 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

With all the evidence you or the Holy word has given many refuse to hear.

Like I said "well written", I'm just sad that more people don't open their hearts and see the truth.

It seems you’re not understanding the many Scriptures I’ve given to you already, (or you’re disbelieving/ dismissing them?).

There is nothing more I can say, as I have said before, the Scriptures are quite clear!!
Anymore than what I’ve done can be misconstrued as argumentative.

Blessings!

Since you brought it up, how does the "Law of God go from being on tablets of stone, to being written on the tablets of the heart?" Would you care to explain that process? Paul who was a minister of the New Covenant knew exactly how it worked. He wrote about it in 2 Corinthians 3:3 (which you cited):

…2You yourselves are our letter, inscribed on our hearts, known and read by everyone. 3It is clear that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

You also cited Heb 8:10 as a reference to (supposedly) prove your view. If you had read it before posting it you would have discovered that this scripture actually contradicts your major premises.

6Now, however, Jesus has received a much more excellent MINISTRY, just as the COVENANT He mediates is BETTER and is founded on BETTER PROMISES. 7For if that first covenant had been without fault, no place would have been sought for a second. 8But God found fault with the people and said: “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
God did not merely make some minor adjustments to the Original Covenant. He made an radically NEW and BETTER ONE consisting of

a "a more excellent ministry than was provided by the Temple, its system of worship
b. The Author goes on to make another point:
13 By speaking of a new covenant, He [God]has made the first one OBSOLETE; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear. (Hebrews 8:13)
The author of Hebrews tells us that making a New Covenant renders the prior covenant OBSOLETE. An example of this would be the marriage covenant which, like death itself dissolves the covenant bond between two spouses. Not only has God's original covenant with Israel become obsolete it is PASSING AWAY and "about to vanish away." This happened when the Temple was destroyed and, along with it, the Priesthood, the Sacrifices and that whole system of approaching God
The New Covenant is still made with the same God with the same character traits and therefore the same eternal and cumulatively valid instructions for how to embody His character traits (Jeremiah 31:33, Ezekiel 36:26-27). New covenants do not nullify the promises of covenants that have already been ratified, so God's covenants are eternal and cumulatively valid. One thing can only make another thing obsolete to the extent that it has cumulative functionality, so a computer makes a typewriter obsolete but does not make a plow obsolete, which means that if the New Covenant involved doing something different that was not cumulative with the Mosaic Covenant, then it could not make it obsolete. The New Covenant is eternal (Exodus 31:14-17, Leviticus 24:8), so the only way that it can be replaced by the New Covenant would be if it is cumulative with it. So the New Covenant still involves following the Mosaic Law (Hebrews 8:10) plus it is cumulatively based on better promises and has a superior mediator (Hebrews 8:6).

The old covenant became obsolete because it was not fulfilled; not because it was cumulative. The Adamic covenant was cumulative. The Noatic covenant was cumulative. The Abrahamic covenant was cumulative. The Davidic covenant was cumulative. They all involved elements of the new covenant. This was never true of the Mosaic covenant.
