The "chicken little" people have been proven wrong over and over again. There are still vast reserves in the ground. There are a number of producing nations that can make up any shortfall. America may not want them, but the rest of what you said is baloney. EV's are inherently more reliable because they have so few parts to wear. Tesla does not have a maintenance schedule. The vehicle monitors the condition and reports any issue. It's something that bugs me with other EV companies, most of which have a routine service schedule. About the only thing that's needed is to top up the wiper fluid and replace wiper rubbers. I do that myself.

Older Tesla EV's have reliability problems but not with the drive train or battery. Chinese built EV's are as reliable or more so than ICE vehicles.

Perhaps when fuel prices get to European levels, Americans would be more receptive. Also, legacy auto has been very slow to adapt, as Ford's Jim Farley admitted. I don't know if I'll get a new car, but If I do. it will be definitely electric.

It's interesting where Iran divulges from Venezuela too. With Venezuela their oil industry was largely destroyed by Maduro's communist incompetence and corruption, like they did major environmental damage as well as their industry techniques and machinery had degraded significantly. Iran on the other hand their oil industry is actually very high tech, very capable, it's problem isn't in a technical sense as like with Venezuela, but rather simply it's used to fund the cult. The hope is to preserve much of the oil industry intact, not for some cynical or childish view of just "muh Trump takes their oil". The hope is the already good oil industry can be maintaine and help swiftly rebuild the country. Also considering the real secular problems like the water crises, israel's water surplus, it's like a no brainer how this can help alleviate other immediate problems that Free Iran will face immediately after the revolution ends but also help start building a longer term stable society that can actually more easily diversify too and start becoming a true comprehensive modern economy and state and also start bringing the whole region in a positive direction too, praise Jesus.

EV batteries lose their charge capacity over time. But once they become unsuitable for vehicles, they can be reused for stationary storage. I wanted to convert my car to electric. The cost of second hand batteries is ridiculous. It would cost me far more than the car is is worth even using second hand components. You can buy Tesla parts from written off vehicles. It is still far too expensive and that is before paying for installation.
