They are souls but not spiritual beings until they are born again.
What is your understanding of the spiritual realm and spiritual entities, and can you support it with evidence outside of scripture? Remember, scripture itself tells us that the universe itself reveals the truth about God, and by implication spirit as God is a spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:14 states that unspiritual people cannot accept or understand the truths of God's Spirit because they appear foolish to them.

"Natural man" in the Greek means - "soulish man.' Having only a soul. Psuchikos

5591 psyxikós (an adjective, derived from 5590 /psyxḗ, "soul, natural identity") – properly, soulish, i.e. what is natural, as it relates to physical (tangible) life alone (i.e. apart from God's inworking of faith).

5591 /psyxikós ("natural") typically describes the natural ("lower") aspect of humanity, i.e. behavior that is "more of earth (carnality) than heaven." 5591 (psyxikós) then sometimes stands in contrast to 4152 /pneumatikós ("spiritual") – the higher, spiritual aspect of humanity that develops through faith (4102 /pístis)

For all you freakin weirdos who get stuck on an erroneous idea and refuse to let go?

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

What the heck is wrong with you?
Who hypnotized you? Galatians 3:1

Angels are spirit beings.
Man is a soul being.

Now go stupid on that?

Shameful.

......
Do you not understand plain English? Hebrews 4:12 speaks of dividing soul and spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 speaks of spirit, soul and body. Man is made in God's image. I can assure you that God is not soul. (John 4:24).

Does it matter? Yes. If God believes it necessary to divide soul and spirit, then we should be seeking to know what that means. Not understanding the difference leads to the absurdity of the belief that those who are born again can lose their salvation. The salvation of the soul is not the same as the salvation of the spirit.

Now rethink your ignorant and insulting remark. You are the one who should be ashamed.

To be pedantic, Genesis does not say that man became a living soul. It says that man became a living being.

When Adam and Eve ate... they died.
'Spiritually.'

For as far as physically?
They were still running around gathering fig leaves.

Some are not seeing that distinction yet.

God intended for all souls to be spiritual beings.
The fall of Adam altered that to being only a potential.
Now all souls need to be born again to be made spiritual.

Otherwise? Why should man need to be born again for?
Death is not the end of existence. Man needs to be born again in order to receive a new, live spirit. The human spirit is mentioned 387 times in the OT. Only a relatively few people were born again. Yet it is clear that fallen man has a spirit.

The soul is not born again. Only the spirit of man. That's why man must experience the salvation of the soul progressively. (1 Peter 1:9)

You follow modern assumptions. The ancient Greeks knew far more than you seem to want to give them credit for when you follow this "Word-studies". This guide is making assumptions to avoid certain problems and you blindly follow them.

But still, what is your understanding of the spiritual realm and please cite solid evidence for it. Solid evidence does exist, hint, look in Coinsciusness Studies, but be prepared to trash traditional theology if you look far enough to actually find the answer.

Every human is born with a spirit. It is dead to God. So no, man is not only a soul. However, the unsaved live out of the natural life of the soul. Too many Christians likewise do not know the difference between the spirit and the soul, and that leads to error.

"For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." 1 Corinthians 2:11

We are born dead in our sin Eph.2:1 We were not intellectually/emotionally dead, we were conscious and had a conscience and could make volitional choices, all functions of the soul as that is what we are in essence Gen.2:7 Nor we were physically dead which only leaves our spiritual life as being dead. Having no spiritual life is what cut us off from God and unable to connect and why we had to be born of the Spirit. Jn.3:6

Keep in mind the issue is human beings, not the spiritual realm in general so not sure why you are going down that road. We are not spiritual creatures unless we are born of the Spirit. How can you be spiritual with no spiritual birth?

The universe does not tell us the nature of spirit and we would not know God is a spirit if it were not for the scriptures.

I dare anyone to define spirit other than with impersonal qualities like invisible. The universe tells us very little about God other than He is eternal power and His Divine nature. The Word wasted his time becoming flesh if all we needed was the natural creation to understand God and the nature of humanity.

You defend tradition very well, but how are you on dealing with questions that tradition does not like? Can you provide answers to questions that remain consistent with scripture?

The OT provides ample evidence that following physical death people were still recognized as being alive by God. Please reconcile that with humans being spiritually dead.

Man was made in God's image.....

Then?

Adam fell.

Things changed from that point on.

And where is scripture does it state that man lost God's image as opposed to merely corrupting it?

The Image is found in the soul.
A soul that lives in God.

Our soul was still created in His image.
But, our function of our soul ceased being as God had created the original soul to be.

The original man was trichotomous. Body, soul, and human spirit.
When Adam fell, man became dichotomous. Body and soul.

To be restored to God's image as God created man to be, requires body, soul, and through regeneration - a human spirit.

Adam before he fell did not have the indwelling Holy Spirit. That only started with the New Creation in Christ.

So are you equating a human spirit with the Holy Spirit?

Please bear in mind that if you are doing so then you also proclaim that it is possible for believers to fall away. If you are not though you are claiming that regenerated believers are something different than what humanity was originally created to be as they have a different spirit.

Theology can be so tricky, don't you think?

For you were continually wandering like sheep, but now you have come back
to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

You skips this post why?
    • Ephesians 2:1: "And You hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins...
  • Physical Resurrection: The reanimation of a dead physical body.
    • Romans 8:11: "...he that raised up Jesus from the Dead shall Also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that Dwelleth in you."
  • The Power of Christ: The ability to grant life.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:45: "...the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." (A spirit that actively radiates and imparts life to others.
    • I say second Adam but its just to make one look.
    • .Jesus is the To Last Adam ,there is No Third Adam
    • When understand The quickened Spirit is forever Life Producer Parah if look at it right meanings.

And so it is written: “The first man Adam was made a living soul.” The last Adam was made a quickening Spirit.

Jesus is the last Adam.

Unlike the first Adam, Jesus is BOTH man and God in union.
God is spirit.... That is why Jesus alone is the quickening Spirit.

Christians are not both God and man in union. We are not God.
Being not God, we are not a quickening Spirit.
We are quickened by the Lord who is the quickening Spirit of our soul.

I think the is only one scripture that talks about a soul and spirit as the Same.? I know a soul Without The Holy Spirit is dead .
The soul that has the Holy Spirit is alive and has Parah with Sap flowing growing bearing the Soul takes on the Quiickened Form The branches can't flow no other way than Jesus Parah

There a few scriptures use same meaning soul and spirit Paul says it once
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind [soul] striving together for the faith of the gospel;" (Philippians 1:27, KJV)
Why This Fits Your Description:
  • The Same Paragraph & Subject: The Apostle Paul is addressing a single subject here: Christian unity and defending the faith.
  • The Translation of "Mind": In the original Greek text, the word translated as "mind" in this verse is psuche, which is the exact same word translated as "soul" everywhere else in the New Testament.
  • Used Interchangeably: Paul is telling the church to be completely unified. By pairing "one spirit" (pneuma) and "one mind/soul" (psuche) to mean the exact same thing—complete inner unity—he shows how closely combined and interchangeable the two concepts are.
  • Another Apostolic Example: 1 Peter 1:22
If it wasn't Paul, it may have been the Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 1:22. He talks about the purification of the soul through the Spirit regarding the exact same subject of brotherly love:
Seeing ye have Purified your Soul's in obeying the Truth Through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren..."
(1 Peter 1:22, KJV)
