Welcome to the forum.

It started as a single forum, but these days it is the default chill place to hang out, for married and single alike. Besides, if we kicked married people out we would lose a lot of friends who used to be single but got married.

Yes, yes, yes!!

One of the things the people I have met here talk about is how there often seems to be a lack of any fun, laughter, or even signs of humanity in the Christian community.

Everything has to be a dead serious debate, studying 23 different translations of a single word, or refuting heresies (when in many cases, the heresy is really anyone who dares to disagree with someone.)

Now of course, there's a time and a place for these things. And may God bless anyone who feels this is their calling! There are Bible Discussion Forum regulars whom I greatly admire (and stalk) for their knowledge and ability to maneuver around spiritual landmines with dignity and grace.

But being a part of that just isn't me, and it's not an an active part of my calling. When I was in a ministry writing to prison inmates, breaking down the Bible into all the original languages didn't help me. When I'm trying to communicate with someone who has dementia, they're not going to care if I know that such-and-such word was used 268 times in the New Testament and how it sometimes meant this, and sometimes meant that (unless, of course, God is calling me to Bible scholars with dementia and/or are in prison!) When inviting co-workers to church, I don't burst into a 15-minute sermon regarding apologetics.

Rather, my calling in Christ is to everyday people that requires being able to talk to them about something familiar to their world, or something they want to hear about (like real , everyday life.)

And so, that's always been my goal here on the forum. Places like the BDF are the Bible classes -- but most of my threads are either serious talks about real life -- or the fellowship potluck that's held after class is dismissed.

The Singles Forum gets a bad reputation for being nothing but frivolous airheads who don't take Jesus seriously. But I can personally verify that I've met people here that I would pit against some of the most Biblically knowledgeable in a heartbeat.

It's just that they don't feel their personal calling is public display or debate.

And some of us would much rather debate Tea vs. Coffee rather than things like Old vs. New Earth. It's not that these subjects don't have a place, it's just that for us, they don't have to be the main focus all the time -- nor are they something to get in a huff over. (But tea and coffee??? Now THOSE are fighting words right there!)

And in the meantime, behind closed doors, we're having discussions about how to see God when our loved ones are dying slow, painful, disparaging deaths right in front of us.

It's one of those things where sometimes, you just need a break and sometimes that means laughing at life -- and yourself -- right along with it.

I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for those who find us and can relate, we are so happy to have you aboard! :)

This is why I don't discuss my actual finances it's supposed to say that that was more an attempted humor then it was a revealing in my financial situation


But I already have a house and tons of stage and recording equipment so I can be a rockstar to cover up you know various insecurities I may have also

Well as far as the tea vs coffee wars are concerned: you just demonstrated that the phrase is something is (not) your cup of tea, it isn't about something being your cup of coffee. And I think that says a latte about which is superior. TT

Well I suppose if you're able to live out your rockstar dreams to cover up your insecurities then your relationships will make it. You just need to date wannabe groupies.

Muscle cars only need apply...
McLaren's are ok....same with some others....

But most especially rebuilt, restored muscle cars are the exemption.
Its TEXAS....not NY or Connecticut.
