Are you referring to the Born Again Christian group? The one that says its members have been "born again" because they have left behind their old sinful ways, such as harmful habits and vices, and therefore identify themselves as Born Again Christians?
All genuine Christians have been born again. It’s not a title but a description. It is therefore redundant to say “born-again Christians”; there are no other kinds.

"Christian" is a word coined by someone in Antioch. It was derogatory term. Believers adopted it. Lord Jesus said that we must be born again in order to see the Kingdom of God.

Being born again is not a matter of changing behaviour. It is literally new life. Man is spirit, soul and body. When Adam disobeyed God, he died spiritually that moment. His body and soul were obviously alive still.

God's restoration of fallen man requires the old, dead spirit to be removed and a new, live spirit to replace it. No one can do this by themselves. Only God can do it. And that happens when we receive Christ, repenting of our sin and believing Christ's death as the full payment of our sin. We must also believe that Christ rose from the dead.

Before I was born again, my attitude to God was entirely different from how I was the moment I was born again. Friends and colleagues saw the difference immediately. I was not and still am not perfect. I'm for sure not the same person that I was 55 years ago. And that is just as well.

It's easy to claim to be a Christian. It's possible to say the right words, quote the Bible and regularly attend church. But unless an individual has accepted Christ, His death and resurrection, he/she is still dead in trespass and sin. God is the one who identifies us as in or out of Christ.

I love the gist of what you are saying but perhaps I could be helpful to you on a couple of points.

You stated above that: "God's restoration of fallen man requires the old, dead spirit to be removed and a new, live spirit to replace it.". While what you are expressing has the truth in it, it would be better to say that fallen mans old dead and inoperative spirit needs to be regenerated. Regeneration, means to take something that exists and bring it back to a functional state. Example: the way one would recharge or jump a dead battery. Therefore, "regeneration", is equated to the New Birth, a mysterious work of the Spirit upon the passive person to regenerate his/her inoperative spirit. Once done, the Gospel message will be effectual in their heart.

When you then stated, "No one can do this by themselves. Only God can do it.". I would say, Amen.

Could you provide examples of ways in which Paul is said to have surpassed the works of the Lord Jesus?"
Because Jesus left us the Holy Spirit who now gives us knowledge of all things we need to know. It's that anointing that brings us into the Kingdom of Heaven faith. Remember when Jesus calmed the storm and told them they were lacking faith. Also, Jesus marvelled at the Centurion who believed the authority of His word, the anointing. The anointing of the Holy Ghost breaks the yoke of this world and sets us free. Great q!🙌

You did ok but the message is lacking.Abit. First off christ raised from the dead Just day Jesus or sdd Son of man raised from the dead. I never knew jesus as Christ i nirthe does anyone else in many generations have past .yes the written use saying of what jesus may have been call and its is written for their time we are past all that we know jesus as son of man Glorified ! Christ never hot through translation and it blinds many .christ in you is the same Anointing that will raise you from the 2nd death but that is already done ,if one truely knows what Jesus fully accomplished. We are not waiting for the Messiah we are waiting for the king to return. And upon his return He will quote Himself as son of man this is so everybody will know and I do mean everybody

JOHN 14:12
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

This can be a complex passage to fully grasp. The context of the entire conversation must be taken into consideration, (verses 6-29), as well as all of Scripture. The key component is: "ask in my name". This does not mean, ask something and stick Jesus on the end of it and it shall come to pass. What does it mean to do something or request something in the name of someone?

I will try to keep this short.

As to Christ,
First, you need to know this Person. See verses, 6,7&9.
Second, you need to believe in this Person. See verses 10-12.
Third, you need to love this Person and this Person tells you how to prove that. See verses, 15,21,23,24&28.

Now let me explain my point.

To carry out something or to make a request in the name of Jesus, means to do it or request it for His sake or on His behalf. The same way one might go into a bank on the behalf of a person or business. You would have to be authorized to carry out such transactions on behalf of that person or business. The authorization, in our case, will be the authority of the Holy Spirit, through the agency of the Apostles primarily.

However, in order to get ones request granted, that one must - Know the Lord, believe in the Lord and love the Lord. Another way to say this would be - to be in the will of the Lord and the request be about the business of the Lord.

This verse also has to be seen in light of other verses of Scripture. Example: Rom 8:26a Likewise the Spirit also helps us in our weakness: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:

JOHN 14:12
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Have you not read the book of Acts? Prison doors flying open, people dropping dead for lying to God, people being laid in the street so Peter's shadow could fall on them and be healed? Not sure what more you want.

Let us not forget that the Lord Jesus speaks the truth. I believe this is something we all take as a given."
JOHN 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Let us also not forget that the Lord Jesus performed a great miracle.
He fed a multitude of 5,000 men, not counting the women and children, using only two small fish and five loaves of bread.
They all ate and were satisfied, and there were many baskets of leftovers.

Was there any of His disciples who, without a doubt, truly followed Him and did greater works than the Lord did?

In our time today, every group in Christianity has its own preachers or teachers.
All of them claim to believe in the Lord Jesus and to follow Him.
How then will they clarify and prove the words of the Lord Jesus: “The works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do”?

I was only asking Gideon300 if they were the ones he was referring to.

But so that we do not move away from our topic, I will ask you directly as well.

One of the miracles performed by the Lord Jesus was when He fed the multitude with two small fish and five loaves of bread.
Everyone was filled, and there were still many leftovers.

How will you prove the statement of the Lord Jesus in John 14:12: “The works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do”?

I will not answer your questions until you recant your baseless but much repeated assertion that I don’t know the one true God.

I answered that for you.

I was just listening to a Baptist pastor on YouTube talk about how it shadow banned him whenever he started to have thousands of views per day on his popular sermons.
He was given a running total of the number of minutes. He did the calculation and it came to a total of thousands of years.

This is just one example showing what Jesus likely meant when He said that His disciple would do greater things.
Did He mean, greater than creating food, healing the lame, raising the dead?
No, then He must have meant that term to be greater in another aspect.
What do you think?

Jesus entire known ministry was approximately 3 years. Mine has been close to 50 years.
Can't say I've ever raised the dead.
I've seen God protect a few men against many attacking men while in the military.
I've sure seen God feed a bunch of people with just a little food.
I've seen hopeless medical cases recover.
I've seen God do great and mighty things through me and others.

A person who does not know the one true God is not given the truth of His Word by God.
MATTHEW 13:10-15
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Your refusal to answer is proof that you do not know the truth of John 14:12.

Because the Lord Jesus does not speak to you the way He spoke to His chosen ones.

But to those chosen by the Lord Jesus, He reveals to them the truth of John 14:12.
MARK 4:34
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

MATTHEW 13:11

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

If you truly know the one true God, you would not ask me to retract my statement.
I am only a human being, just as you are.
Even if I were to withdraw it, that would not serve as the basis for your salvation.

You should seek the Lord Jesus, for He is the one who revealed who you are, and I have merely believed what He has revealed.

The discussion is not about the length of one's preaching.
What the Lord said is that they would do greater works than He did.

Therefore, those who truly believe in the Lord or are chosen by Him, even if they preached for only one day, one week, one month or one year, have done greater works than He did."
