many success marriages I see, both sides actively involved in local church, they have God as their focus, so less pressure on each other.
When I went to Northern Ireland, it mattered a great deal. See the 'Protestants' did not like the 'Roman Catholics' even though both are meant to be Christians, you are either one or the other, and they even had a war over it and bombing, shootings etc.
I don't live in Ireland or Northern Ireland...but if you watch the netflix series Derry Girls, it gives you an idea of what it was like to grow up in a place where everyone is at war.

I live in Ireland so I know what you’re talking about but I have never heard of people refusing others because of their name!. It might be true but I’ve never seen it!.

From what I know, if you are not Catholic but want to marry a Catholic you have to convert to Catholicism.
But if you are Catholic and marry a non-Catholic the Catholic church will ex-communicate you i.e chuck you out of the church, banish or shun you.
Or you could just both decide to have no religion.
Or compromise and go to a non-denominational church....but if you want your children to have a (catholic) Christian education, you have to be in the Catholic church or accept their teachings.
Or you put them in public schools which are completely secular where they will turn out to be heathens.
OR you give up your jobs to homeschool them, christianly.

It looks like a cross-cultural international/interdenominational courtship thats being played out here.
Arrgh cannot handle logistics!!
Plus all the paperwork one needs to do, and the applications and the pastoral endorsements! Not to mention having to be interviewed over endless cups of coffee!

I thought it would be easy, but now...apparently I have to climb a mountain! And maybe ford every stream! Plus climb trees!
