Rules in no particular order. What are the rules?
Apparently there are some rules for dating that I'm not aware of. Sort of like the 5 second rule if a piece of food drops on the floor, if you pick it up within 5 seconds you can still eat it.
Are they like that?
Or is it something else, or do people just make up their own rules? Are there different rules for women and men? What happens if you break these rules? Would you get stoned?
no, they both should have worked. remember, he was extremely smart but lazy. i didn't mention, an alcoholic too. he wasted his talents.Well someone needs to raise the kids if they don't have a granny/nanny to help them.
Do you reckon his wife ought to have given up her job and your brother got a better one? Or lived on a lower income? IDK it's hard to judge what others do, but since they both agreed on that arrangement it was right for them.
Rules in no particular order.
1. Women make the rules.
2. Most men are clueless that rules exist.
3. Women will not tell the man the rules.
4. If the woman suspects the man has worked out the rules, she will change them immediately.
This applies in marriage. I've worked some rules out and my wife has no realised it yet. For example, "Would you like to eat out tonight?" Dumb answer, "No". Right answer, "Where would you like to go?" Response, "Where would you like to go?" By process of elimination, I get to "choose" where she wanted to go in the first place.
I tease her about these "rules" sometimes. She's pretty good about it. It can be about what I'm wearing as well. "Don't you want to wear that nice (awful) shirt I bought you for your birthday?" "No". The fact that I'm not wearing seems not to sink in that I don't like the shirt. All that matters is that she likes it.
I love my wife dearly. She is my best friend, understands me, cuts me a lot of slack and is a genuinely spiritual woman. So I wear the shirt.
Oh but who going to look after the children? Or just stick them in day care or shunt off to boarding school? Or work from home, and get the children to work as well, flouting labour laws?no, they both should have worked. remember, he was extremely smart but lazy. i didn't mention, an alcoholic too. he wasted his talents.
No one should tolerate abuse, especially physical. God calls us to live in peace in our marriages. As for marrying again, that's between the individual and God. Remarrying is not the unforgivable sin. The victim would be wise to have counseling so that they are healed emotionally of the effects of abuse. Otherwise, it will likely affect the next relationship negatively as well. What do you mean preference?
Are you just saying you prefer not to date anyone who's a divorcee.
Cos what would be an unbiblical reason to divorce someone? That you know of.
I've already said some people divorce because of abuse. Are they not ever allowed to marry again or would it be wise not to. Lest they become another victim.

The point is carefully listen to God, follow God.Separation sometimes involves restraining orders.
Lest they kill each other. After all, if married it's death till you part. I don't really understand it but yea who in their right mind would want to jump into another marriage if the first one was abusive. It could turn out the second one could be as well, if you don't know how to pick 'em.
Not really.I thought the number #1 rule for dating was
1st date - the guy pays!
Not really.
I heard a lot people split the payment.
Not a hard rule, don't matter to me.
I offer to split 50 50. If he wants to pay all, then next time I pay all.I've never expected a guy to pay for me -- I always offer to pay my way.
And if, throughout the date, he tells me about all the women who've used him as an ATM, I just tell the waiter/waitress to bring me the whole check, so he can't say another woman used him for a free dinner.
I'll only agree to a date if I know I have enough money to cover it all, including him. And if I don't have the money, I'll suggest something cheaper that I CAN afford, like coffee (sorry @Lanolin! Lol! I love little cafes with unique coffee...)
But, that's just me.
I offer to split 50 50. If he wants to pay all, then next time I pay all.
Agree.Amen!!
Especially in today's economy, I would never expect a guy to pay for me, but again, that's just me.
It's very important to me to show a guy right off the bat that I'm not going to be a financial obligation or burden (I know everyone's situation is different though.)
This is because of how many times I hear men talking about all the times women used them for money, or that they think all women are out for money. I hope to demonstrate that not all women are like that.
I'm at a point where I've earned my own money, and this is just what I believe in for myself.
Agree.
But to show respect, I give him chance to pay if he choose to.
I even went out just have water bottle, no food at all. Just walk, talk, fellowship. Nothing wrong with that.
Interesting...
I did not know that.
