Why would anyone want marriage if not for seeing others' marriage and following what they're doing?
Because there's good and enjoyable things about marriage. And, understandably, many people want to experience those things.
Wild, isn't it?

Whatever you say, that has nothing to do with your relationship with the Lord. You can't take your marriage to the grave - or the next life.I gather you do not have children, and probably never been married so really you have no experience from which to form a reasonable opinion.
I will always support people who want to marry and have a family and there still are many, many people who are doing a good job at it.
Your negativity is all you.
Thanks, I just wanna experience the love of Christ, when there're no "those things" to enjoy. His love is free and accessible for all, his yoke is easy and burden is light, and I just happen to choose that over an unattainable idol.Because there's good and enjoyable things about marriage. You can use the Lord as a matchmaker to get a partner, even though you yourself have acknowledge that there's no such promise; or, you can find comfort and peace in the Lord himself, despite the lack of a partner.I can't take this Internet forum with me into the next life, either. Whoops. Guess I should never, ever, use this Internet forum, then.
I don't know why you think marriage is "unattainable" when so many Christians have been married, are married, and continue to marry. Or why you think marriage is an "idol." The Bible calls marriage a good thing. Nowhere does it call marriage an "idol."
You can use the Lord as a matchmaker to get a partner, even though you yourself have acknowledge that there's no such promise; or, you can find comfort and peace in the Lord himself, despite the lack of a partner.
And yes, marriage is a blessing in principle, but in modern urban economy, the cost of marriage has far surpassed its benefits, especially if you happen to marry someone who uses the marriage to promote herself and her own brand - including many so called "Christian" influencers.
No you couldn't, that's an oxymoron. If you've found peace in God, you won't be troubled with singleness and looking for a partner to fix that; if you're looking for a partner to fix your singleness, you haven't found peace in God.I never said anything about using God as a matchmaker to get a partner.
Something else you could do is find your ultimate peace in God while looking for a partner. Crazy, isn't it?![]()
Then you don't know the young generation. I don't blame you, grandma.I don't know any women who want to be an influencer or have her own brand. Personally, the idea of being an influencer is very off putting to me. I'd rather go live like Grizzly Adams, far from that sort of thing.
Thankfully, we aren't all out for ourselves. A caring person isn't going to act in such a manner as to drain their spouse.
Then you don't know the young generation. I don't blame you, grandma.
And yes, a caring person ain't gonna act like that, neither would a secure and confident person be pitying themselves for their singleness and seeking validation from a partner to fix that when they're already saved by the blood of Christ.
OK let me put it this way - if you're a caring person, don't you have elderly parents to care for? I'd care for them who raised me and cared for me, I'd care for my nieces, nephews and cousins who share my blood, why would I care for somebody I know nothing about other than a fishy profile probably generated by AI?Grandma? Have mercy. I'm not even a mother
I suppose in the past, I would have been called an "old maid."
If you've found peace in God, you won't be troubled with singleness and looking for a partner to fix that; if you're looking for a partner to fix your singleness, you haven't found peace in God.
And yes, many have married, but what does that have anything to do with you?

Gee, I don't know, Lovette. Maybe this indicates that marriage, and a happy marriage isn't a far-fetched pipe dream like you seem to believe? I don't know, just a wild guess.![]()
Does any of the examples IN the Bible matter to you?Oh? Where's that in the Bible?
Yeah, so is every highlight reel on Instagram. Comparison is the thief of joy.Gee, I don't know, Lovette. Maybe this indicates that marriage, and a happy marriage isn't a far-fetched pipe dream like you seem to believe? I don't know, just a wild guess.![]()
Or it’s best to take care of your own life, get busy on whatever you’ve been procrastinating, whatever needs to be done, and meditate on the word of God, and find something meaningful to do - with your leisure time that God has blessed you with. Maybe following a fishy profile picture is meaningful to you, but not to me.My close family has all passed on. I have done a lot of caring for my loved ones in my life. Starting when I was 13. I went to stay with my grandfather to help him for a while after major surgery. Towards the end of my teen years, I began helping and caring for my father. He passed away 2 years ago, my mother passed away before him. Now, I'm getting ready to go care for my current closest loved one (who isn't blood related, but they are my loved just the same).
If I were married, I'd care for my spouse.
As far as a fishy profile picture, it is best to take steps. In my experience, that means a phone call first, then a video chat, and then meeting in person.
Define “happy”. I’ve had my own share of blessings that would make my peers envy, no debt, no illness, no anxiety, no trouble, no resentment, abundance which I didn’t earn, to that I’m utterly grateful and content. I don’t need the boomers’ perfunctory “life script”, that you’re not truly happy, you’re not complete without a ring on your finger. To be fair, I can see why lovette would view anything happy as a far-fetched pipe dream![]()
I can't speak for all, but with me after being with someone for four years who would say all the time that he has a close and personal relationship with God showed a whole new side. This man would call me names and pour water on me. tried to control me and change who I was. He did all of this. See sometimes people can see God in you and they don't want to get close to you. This man out of the blue would just say I just want to slap you for no reason at all. But it was God who took me out of that relationship. So now I have been single going on four years now. Waiting on God to send me someone. I'm tired doing things on my strength, just doing things in general on my own.Why are so many Christians still single?

Does your dad have a butler to go acquire a girlfriend for you?You mean like the examples of Isaac and Rebekah, or Ruth and Boaz, or Joseph and Mary? Those, for instance?![]()
I didn’t say that. They are existent as the instagram highlight reels, as I said. The question is the same - what does that have anything to do with you?Right, happy and healthy marriages are completely non-existent, according to an unmarried man on an Internet chat forum who's admitted (if I recall correctly) that he doesn't have that many relationships with people. OK.![]()
