Personally, yes to which statement?
If I were put on trial for being a Christian, there would be proof of the charge.
No works demonstrates no faith and not faith demonstrates no conversion to Christianity.
I agree...if the works in question are works of love (not of the Law).
So, all ten are summed up in two?
Yes.
Obedience/good works is the fruit of salvation but not the root of it. (Ephesians 2:5-10) One is trying to earn or merit salvation when they try to turn the fruit of salvation into the root of salvation.
I would call it the fruit of conversion, as salvation won't b assured until th day of judgement.
That acts of obedience/good works manifest salvation means that acts of obedience/good works are the visible evidence of salvation but not the cause of salvation itself.
Yes, the evidence of conversion.
Cause of salvation: God’s grace, through faith in Christ, not works.
Not the works of the Law.
But our obedience is also necessary in turning from sin and getting baptized inthe name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins.
And still, we must endure faithfully until the end.
Role of works: Evidence, fruit, and evidence of salvation.
Order: Salvation > transformation > acts of obedience/good works.
Again, what you lable salvation, I call conversion...as many fall away between supposed conversion and the day of judgement.
Which does not mean they never sinned at all. You disagree with scripture.
I agree with scripture, in its context.
If no man ever lived without sin, then Jesus is a lie.
ONLY JESUS CHRIST WAS WITHOUT SIN.
He was one of them, for sure.
Since His resurection, all the true belivers are.
Because their belief (James 2:19) falls short of saving belief in Jesus Christ. (Acts 16:31)
Yep.
So, only those who lived sinless, perfect lives 100% of the time (exactly like Jesus Christ) will be saved?
Yep.
As you wrote above, the behavior is the fruit of their conversion.
Bad fruit...no conversion or salvation.
These false prophets/bad trees that bear bad fruit showed they lacked saving belief in Jesus Christ. (Matthew 7:15-23; John 6:40)
I agree.
How is claiming to have no sin or have not sinned and failing to confess our sins represent fear of the Lord?
You really need to rephrase that.
Anyone that fears the Lord will do everything in their power not to offend Him !
Don't you think ?
John says such a person deceives themself and the truth is not in them and they make God a liar and His word is not in them. Suffering from a terminal case of self-righteousness does not represent fear of the Lord.
John is addressing those who walk in darkness, and darkness is the way of the wicked.
Those walkig in the light cannot commit sin, as the light is God !
Saints are not classified as sinners because of the blood of Christ and not sinless perfection.
Both, actually.
The fruit determines the Progenitor.
Sinners are classified as unbelievers who do not know God. Saints are classified as believers who know God.
I agree.
What do you believe John meant by "keep" His commandments and which commandments?
Both of them...love God, and love your neighbor.
I'm arguing against sinless perfection (1 John 1:8-10) and self-righteousness and not obedience to God. Big difference.
I am arguing for obedience (1 John 1:7 2;3-4), to the One who saved us.
What is the difference between sinless behavior, and obedience to God ?
