Yesterday I learned I was selected for a 4 day fishing trip to the Frying Pan in Colorado, most expenses paid by an organization that supports disabled Veterans. Woohoo!

Yesterday I also had some medical tests where they injected some kind of nuclear radiation into my blood stream and put me in a machine that took pictures of my heart. They also had me walking on a treadmill while injecting yet more radioactive material. Don't let that get you down. The good side of this is I won't be needing to uses the batteries in my flashlights for several days.

Goodness gracious.

We thought it was the aurora borealis...

Looks like it was actually Tall Timbers!! 😮

I hope your tests go well!!!

And that it's all worth it in time for your big (paid-for!!!) fishing trip!!! Woo hoo!!!

I just hope you won't be catching too many of these! 🤯

😲😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 I had that too ! It hurt like h--l ! When I had breast cancer , they injected my boob with nuclear material in order to identify some lymph nodes under my arm , then they used a gyger counter under my arm to detect the specific lymph nodes and removed them . The nuclear injection was the most painful part of my treatment ! 😆😆😆 .

I am so sorry you had to go through that!! 🥺

Praise God for getting you through. 💖

I gave one of my kids a Nespresso machine, but she never uses it. I taught my son how to make good coffee, but then he got a Keurig and buys his coffee from Costco. They're all disinherited...
Maybe the kids think that they are entitled or something.

When we lived in Clearwater, Florida we had a Costco 2 miles away from us. Fun store. Bought my coffee too.

My job was in a distribution center in St. Pete. That company was the exclusive supplier of Nespresso coffee and machines in the US. Their coffee is excellent.

Maybe I need to be disinherited too. Of course, the only thing that I am going to inherit are my 2 cats Tango and Sugar. I will also inherit my wife's Yeti mug. I'm all set. Don't need nothing else.

Through the years I have made it a point to travel light on my life's journey.

Still trying to figure out how to handle single life once again.

My late wife handled the financial aspects. I got to figure out what the bills actually are and the days that they are due. For the most part I have this under control but there may be a few bills that I am not aware of.

I don't believe that I will be seeking to start any new relationships. Certainly not for at least a year but probably never as I don't see how that I could replace JesusLives.

Between marriages I was single and celibate for 18 years. I was OK then and I will be OK now.

One thing is for sure in that my weekly shopping list will be changing dramatically. I will be trending towards mostly frozen foods. I will just reach into the freezer and the first thing I grab is what I will nuke.

Going to go nuclear.

Maybe it can work on my sore right hip. I might actually seriously consider this.

I know chiropractors are seen as the sorcerers of the medical field, but maybe this might be a consideration, too?

My dad has had lifelong back pain due to a physically demanding career. He's had every surgery, treatment, and medication they can give him, with little to no relief (if there is any, it's just temporary.)

So far, he's had two appointments with a chiropractor and has had some notable improvement.

Praying for your regularly, Tourist. 🙏🏼

Actually, in this small town that I live there is a chiropractor office. Might give that a go if there is no improvement.

Fortunately, my let leg, the one that had sciatica, is much better now. Just got to get the right leg going in the right direction. It is painful to walk but the pain comes and goes, and it is not debilitating and I am able to function.

I certainly appreciate your prayers. Thank You.

I am so sorry you're going through this, Tourist.

I hear this from a lot of couples -- maybe it happens in every married couple, I don't know. Someone was responsible for this or that... so when God calls one of them home, the other one doesn't know anything about that particular area.

Some of the older ladies who know my parents see me visiting them, and they'll ask my Mom, "You mean your daughter pays the bills and handles the checkbook... herself?! Without a man?"

We're trying to get in place where we know exactly what we (us adult kids) are going to have to do for whoever God calls to stay here while He calls the other one home.

One of the things I feel called to do in this stage of the game is to try to help those who were married and are going back to being single.

The thing that breaks my heart even more for you is that you've been around this block TWICE, as you've already lovingly cared for your previous wife before God called her home, too.

I am so sorry.

If anyone is to teach singles here anything about marriage, you are one of the most qualified people I've ever met.

Praying every day that God will bless and comfort you!! 🙏🏼💖

@tourist,

One of the reasons I've always looked up to you as one of the absolute pillars here in the Singles Forum is because even when you got married, you always maintained an attitude of, "Hey, I'm just one of you, trying to figure out life as I go along."

I often think of your catchphrase, "It's not so bad if you think about it," when I'm having a hard day myself.

I look to you by default whenever we've had people over the years try to establish themselves as having something to teach, because unlike so many who have come and gone over the years, you've never lost your humility. And you've had the experience of fulfilling God's "'Til death do you part," not once but twice.

You never set yourself up as being better than any of us, and you never talked down to us. You never tried to tell us what we were all doing wrong, or what we needed to change.

You spoke with joy about your wife and married life, but you never came across as trying to make us feel lesser if we were still single. You never insisted that we get married, just encouraged us all to follow our own walk with God, whether single or married.

I'm going to miss JesusLives jokingly egging on @Lynx by saying she was going to set him up with her daughter, lol!! 😆

Thank you, and ALL our married friends, who share their lives with us but don't look at or talk down to us.

We appreciate your friendship.

@tourist, no matter what happens, we are still praying and cheering you on. 💖

Tourist I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for all your sweet posts uplifting your wife instead of tearing her down, it has been so encouraging to see. I'm thankful that you two were able to brighten each other's lives for over a decade. Thank you for your kindness towards us singles, and please know that we are praying for you 🙏🖤

Three thoughts:

My dad is a coffee nerd the way I am a computer nerd. He strongly disagrees with you about nespresso. But if you ever see any lavazza, try it. They do whole bean, pre ground and little pods.

About nuking food, banquet pot pies are not very good. Go with Marie callender. But banquet does make a sausage gravy pot pie with a biscuit crust that my father really likes. Like, he makes me get 16 at a time to chunk in the freezer.

And about traveling light...

My dad got given 2 chilly bins of frozen food when my mum was dying. I wasn't sure what to do with them because I'd never eaten frozen food before but it seems according to the instructions on the packets you just bunged them in the microwave and hit 'start'

With the plastic wrappers still on!

They swelled up like balloons but the instructions said that would happen.

They had different things in plastic containers like roast, or mac and cheese, or shepherds pie, or curry rice, there was even a chocolate pudding.

My dad thought they were delicious. I was scared of the plastic going in the food. But I survived.
