To be 'born again' ........does not mean literally reentering a womb, so to speak.
Wow! This is the same thing that was addressed in John 3 with our Lord and Nicodemus. Let's read.....
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Nicodemus thought the same thing. How can a man be born a second time. Jesus goes on to tell him and 'us' just how a man can be 'born again'. Let's listen to Jesus words;
John 3
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Jesus tells us we must be born of water AND of Spirit. Being born of water is what ALL of mankind had to do to be born as a flesh and blood being. Jesus them tells us that we also must be born of spirit if we are to enter into God's kingdom. And just what is being born of 'spirit'? Let's first read what Jesus tells Nicodemus...
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
So obvious Jesus is speaking about (2) different things here; There are those things that are flesh and then there are those things that are spirit. Let's go to other scriptures to get an idea of what each is.....
Isa.31
[3] Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
God make a distinction above. Horses are NOT spirit...they are flesh. Let's continue.....
Gen.6
[12] And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
[13] And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
[17] And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
[19] And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
So not only are Horses flesh....but everything that God made that breaths upon this earth is also flesh.
Gen.7
[21] And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
And that would include man.
So when Jesus said in John 3, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh...", He was speaking about mankind, or human beings. Now let's find what is spirit....
Heb.1
[7] And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
[14] Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
So now we are getting a better idea here. Angels are spirits. They are beings that God made that are not like flesh beings. Let's confirm this further...
1 Cor.15
[35] But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
So the question is asked, "What type of body will those that raise from the dead will have?". Let's find out...
[39] All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
Now we already know what flesh is from reading Gen. chap's 6 & 7. And above we read the same thing. There are different types of flesh...but ALL of the above are flesh beings. Let's continue.....
[40] There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
And now we find that there is a difference between a flesh being and a spirit being.
[42] So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
[43] It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
[44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
So now we have some information that will help us with what Jesus was trying to explain to Nicodemus.
When man is born of woman he is born a flesh being and man then dies. When man is raised he will no longer have a flesh and blood body, he will no longer be a flesh being.....he will be a spirit being. Man is born a flesh being but will be raised as a spirit being. Once this happens, man will have been born into the family of God; man will have been 'born again'! Let's read more....
[47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
First man is born a flesh being, then....after the resurrection, man is born to bear the image of a spirit being.
Now let's pay attention to what us said next.....it should sound familiar....
[50] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
And where did we hear this originally? Let's read it again......
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
So what was Jesus trying to tell Nicodemus? That in order for him to enter into the kingdom of God, there had to be a physical change in his body. Nicodemus had to go from a flesh and blood body to a spirit body. In other words..... Nicodemus had to be "BORN AGAIN". But this time he would be born into the family of God; born a spirit beings just as God and His angels are.
Now.....let's go back to John to read something special that Jesus tells Nicodemus only a spirit body, or one that has been truly 'born again' can do......
John 3
[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
[8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Jesus tells Nicodemus that once you have been truly 'born again', or born into the family of God as a spirit being; just as the wind goes and comes, but cannot be seen, so will everyone that is 'born again'!
This is what Jesus was trying to explain to Nicodemus. To be born again, not only means to have a change in your lifestyle and in your mind set and thinking here and now. To be truly born again you must have a change in body...literally! To be born into God's family of spirit beings you must become a spirit being just like Him.
Now let's read one more scripture. Let's find something else ONLY a truly born again being can do;
1 John 3
[9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
When we become TRULY born again, the capacity to sin will be taken away from us. It will be IMPOSSIBLE for us to EVER SIN AGAIN! We will be as God. We will be born into His family! We will be spirit beings incapable of sinning!
Consider this.....those that say they are 'born again' now....is it IMPOSSIBLE for them to ever sin again? Are they NOW perfect and are incapable of ever sinning again until they die? Because that's what God's word tells us one that has been born into His family will never do; SIN!
Just as Ozel has been trying to tell us..... Truly being born again is not a change in mind.....it is a literal change in body!
I pray this helps.
