Would you not consider dating someone if you knew beforehand that she couldn't have children?

Wait, I voted too soon!

Yes.. BUT I also choose option 3 I have no problems with adoption. I have, in fact, considered it even while being single. :/

If the situation was reversed and it was the guy that couldn't have kids, I would still marry him if that's where the Lord was leading me. I'd love to be able to adopt children if we couldn't have our own.

Several years ago I was engaged to a woman that I knew was incapable of having children (at least via natural fertilization) and would date someone in those circumstances again.

I dont see a big problem with it at all. Adoption is better anyways. No nasty post-marital surprises that way.

if she is the one GOD wants you to be with then be with her, we are so close to jesus coming back the likely hood that the children born know reaching an old age is remote.

Why would you ever call child bearing a nasty post-marital surprise?!
To be honest, I would have a hard time marrying someone I knew was infertile. I am not completely against it, but The Lord would have to really change my heart if that were how he was leading me.
I want children more than anything and I am all for adoption. But being pregnant, carrying a baby to term, and giving birth naturally (yes... No drugs at all) is equally as important to me as simply having children. Pregnancy is beautiful and it fascinates me. It would be a terrible loss to never be able to experience a completely pregnancy.

It would be nice to have genetic posterity, to characteristics of one's family in the children. That's special.

However, it certainly isn't a make or break issue.

I've seen so many miracles in the lives of couples who believed they could not conceive. One couple asked our intercessory prayer team to pray for God to turn this around and give them a child. After two months, she conceived. God can and will do anything we think is impossible.

I would never pass up a woman who is a true believer for any anscillary issue to marriage. If our love for each other was true, that would be enough. We could then seek God for our hopes and dreams. If it was in God's plan for us to conceive, it would happen. If not and children were very much wanted, adoption would be amazing also, because the child would be entering a home and family where love for each other and for God, prevails, above all else!

well its a lot easier to plan an adoption than birth. I mean sure there is birth control after marriage but none of those are 100%. I would hate to be practicing safe sex and then come home one day to the Honey Im pregnant, and me not be ready or wanting a kid at that point in my life

Not meaning to derail the subject in any way... But being adopted, I have to state that adoptions are not that easily "planned", especially nowadays. There is a mountain load of requirements nowadays: paperwork, homestudies, social workers, visits to the home country if you're adopting overseas, sometimes spending time with the children if it's an open adoption involving older kids, etc. It's definitely not a matter of deciding, "Oh, we want a baby," and then scheduling a time to pick up your child. Even back in the day, it took my parents over 2 years to get me and another 2 for my brother.

You can literally go through years' worth of work and still not have a child (this is happening to some friends of mine--something like three years, and still no child.) Of course I am all for adoption but anyone considering it has got to be made of some tough stuff (due to all the red tape), not to mention, money. My friends' first child's adoption cost around $25,000 and the second is looking at about $30,000 (these are international adoptions, but domestic ones aren't cheap either, and, from what I hear, take longer.) God does provide though, as my friends are missionaries and the money has all been donated. However, after all this time, they still have no idea when their second child will be released to come home.

Now, to make this legit--when I was younger, I really, really wanted kids. I feel badly for people who have their heart set on things because... What if God says no?

Apparently, that's what He has for me. I can no longer envision starting a family in my 40's (I've lost the desire) so I don't see this as an option for me anymore. Being adopted, this means I will never have a biological relative, which is a hard thing to give up.

So, I am actually hoping to meet someone who also no longer wants to have or can't have children. Maybe someone who's struggled with the idea for years (now decades!) as I have, and has come to the same conclusions, and can be at peace with a new direction.

If the situation were reversed.... in younger days I would have had to give it a lot of thought if a guy told me he was unable to have children. At this point in my life, it's not that big of a deal. It would be great to have another child, but it's not a dealbreaker at all.

Most guys my age or older already have children that I could love.

it wouldn't matter to me I love kids but I have too many health problems in my family that are heretary that can be passed on and don't want my kids to get it. If I was dating a guy that couldn't have kids and we got along and were compatible I'd still want to be with him.

Thats true, but you are never going to a have a surprise adoption either.

You might be surprised. I've heard of cases in which: the couple was all set to adopt ONE child and found out a pair of twins was available and would they be interested? The couple had been told they would be getting a girl... and it was a boy who was released for adoption instead. The couple was asked if they would consider a child with things such as special needs, medical conditions, withdrawal symptoms due to a mother with addictions, etc.

It's slightly different, I know ;) but adoption can also be full of surprises. My parents were told they could never have children and so they adopted me, and then another child, and then... voila!! Wound up having their own child anyway.

If you're having sex, (and as a married couple, forgive me for assuming you would be), pregnancy is ALWAYS a possibility, no matter how "safe" you're trying to make it out to be. :D I guess God just designed it that way.

And again, to make this post legit--if there is anyone out there who can't/doesn't want to have kids, this thread is hopefully a great encouragement. I know I've found comfort in some of the answers here.

You may wind up with a very special person who is in exactly the same situation. :)

My ex wife could not have kids ! She awoke one night crying saying She wanted a child ! i prayed i ask the LORD too give her a child ! HE said No ! I said But LORD she suffered lots in her life! won"t you give her a child ? HE said NO ! i said LORD will you for me ? He said Yes then we had two Daniel and then Sarah 1

Daniel been born again since he was 13 years old He now 19 !But Sarah is 14 years old and has not been born again ! She saw a few miracles . Once Her kitty died and we laid hands on it and it came back ! She went to school telling about it ! the kids mocked her so bad she now refuses to talk about the Bible or the LORD ! It so sad ! I pray foir HER LOTS !

Luk_9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

Yes, I would. Now, truthfully, I would like to have true blood children, and continue my family line. That said, I think adoption is needed and awesome! As far as the girl...well...infertility doesn't make me love you any less, lol. Actually, so long as the practice and pleasure of procreation (*clears throat*) was alive and strong in the marriage, well...I'm sure most (not all) men really would be just as happy. ^^ Might not resonate with some, but very much true for most.

I must admit that I thought there would have been 'no's' on the poll. I guess I figured it was very important to guys to continue the bloodline. Maybe I've been influenced too much by watching movies/shows about the medieval ages and kings lol
