Why did God make DEBORAH a judge in Israel (Judges 4:4-5)? The answer is not difficult and the biblical account certainly cannot be taken as changing God's plan for the role of men and women.
Throughout all the Bible God's perfect will is for men to lead. That is too clear for one to misinterpret, but when men will not assume their responsibilities, yes God has at times used women. The men in Deborah's day were very weak and cowardly. This is seen in the fact that Barak, the captain of the armies of Israel, refused to go into battle unless Deborah went with him.
The woman had to remind him that God had said it is time to fight; the woman had to encourage and challenge him to go; the woman had to go with him! In doing so she was fulfilling her role as the "help meet" of man,
but clearly not taking that role away from him.
8Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
9“Very well,” Deborah said, “I will go with you.
But because of the way you are going about this, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will hand Sisera over to a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh,
10 where he summoned Zebulun and Naphtali. Ten thousand men followed him, and Deborah also went with him.
Deborah clearly realized and tried to explain that this was not right nor natural, and she told Barak it would result in shame upon his name.
Are women using this example to try and shame men somehow again or are we not already provided the example of how it is a shame to the Lords ways.
or is it in an attempt to empower the women over men which is what satan would want in order to provide more of a mockery to God again in these last days.
Anyway "And she said, I will surely go with thee; Obviously it was a period in Israel's history during which God could find no man to do His will, so He used one brave, willing woman
as a rebuke to the men of Israel. We can appreciate that God used a women like Deborah who was willing to be strong when the men are weak, and at the same time understand that it still is a shame to the order of the way God INTENDED things to be. This is not the norm but an exception, again to teach what not to do, thats what rebuke is, correction, a sharp scolding, a shame or embarrassment.
AND THEN
14Then Deborah said to Barak, “Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?” So Barak went down Mount Tabor, followed by ten thousand men
I dont read that Deborah ALSO fought, note that she told Barak to GO and he and his MEN fought.
The root problem in Deborah's day was spiritual apostasy. When God's people turn away from Him, He rendered the men powerless against their enemies and removed wisdom from their hearts. It is a judgment upon apostate people. We can see this very thing today in the churches today. The leaders are weak and seem entirely lacking even in common sense.
We cannot control our little children, and women are being allowed to rule over men (compare this of todays times with Isaiah 3:12).
Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. O my people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.
It is God's judgment because of the apostate condition. Israel in Deborah's day was in bondage to their enemies only because of their apostasy from the true God and this is revealed according to the Scriptures (Judges 4).
Another example: What about THE DAUGHTERS OF PHILIP? They were prophetesses (Acts 21:8-9). Does this mean women can preach to men in exercising their gifts of prophecy and go out of Gods order? The fact that God gave gifts of prophecy to women does not mean they are free to take authority in the church. When Paul was staying at Philip's house, even though the four daughters were there who had the gifts of prophecy, God used a male prophet from another city to come and prophesy to Paul!
The church is Christs and He and He alone is its Head.
It is written in 1 Corinthians 11:3
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
We are told that Christ is the head of the church as man is the head of woman.
If a woman is suddenly leading a church something has circumvented Gods order.
How can Christ be the head of man if a woman is trying to take that place. How do we expect she be led if the man is now not leading when we are clearly told the info is suppose to be relayed to the man to teach.
He says that the men are to provide the leadership and certainly Christ knows what is best and is perfect in all His ways.
Honestly I dont know why this all has to be said, But who else is gonna if men are still rolling over.
At what point does it turn around back to the order God initiated from the beginning and the rebellion against Gods order stop.
Again no offense ladies and gentleman, this isnt sexist or biggotry, it's just scripture, I understand it may be difficult to relinquish ways we have been taught as if we are giving up part of our own identity in favor of Gods ways, but the scripture does say we are suppose to die to the self.
We all know our designed and created role.
