no need to confess your sins, right?
i assume you haven't confessed any sin since your saved date.
would that be correct?
it has to be for you to be consistent.
please answer.
briefly.
1John 1:8 is not teaching that Christian's will always be sinners. You can isolate it out of context and choose to present it that way but that is not rightly dividing the Scripture.
1Joh 1:8 is a REPENTANCE verse and is in the context of HOW to walk in the light.
1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
1Jn 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us
1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
1Jn 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But
if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. The cleansing is conditional on WALKING in the light.
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
One cannot approach God for this cleansing unless they first confess their sins. The Prodigal Son approached his father confessing his sins.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness if we do this. How can someone believe that Joh 1:8 is teaching that you will ALWAYS BE UNRIGHTEOUS when in verse 9 John writes that Jesus will cleanse you of ALL unrighteousness? What an absurdity.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
John reiterates his point here. We cannot claim to have never sinned.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
IF IF IF and not WHEN. IF we sin and John is speaking of non-presumptuous sin here because he clearly teaches in chapter 3 that those who sin are of the devil. When we fall short and miss the mark we have an advocate with God. There is no advocate for walking in willful disobedience (Heb 10:26-29).
1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Christian's keep the commandments. They are DOERS of the Word.
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
We KEEP the word.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1Jn 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
1Jn 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
1Jn 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
If you don't love then you are in darkness. Love fulfills the law. If you love you won't hate your brother and therefore you won't willfully sin against Him.
1Jn 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
The false teachers will quote 1Joh 1:8 in isolation again and again. It is their favourite verse of the First Epistle of John which they use to argue in favour of sin. Always defending sin. Why?????????
Always trying to tell people no-one can be pure. No-one can be righteous. No-one can obey God. These people appear to hate the Bible while they pretend to love it. The Bible to them is a menu which a few select dishes which they love to apply out of context.
What else does John teach?
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Yet people think 1Joh 1:8 is teaching that nobody can stop sinning?
1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
The children of God a manifest to the world that they do not produce the fruit of sin in their lives.
1Jn 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1Jn 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
LOVE LOVE LOVE not SIN SIN SIN. Jesus said if you sin you are it's slave (Joh 8:34) and that He sets us free from this slavery (Joh 8:36) and Paul agreed (Rom 6:7, 18) Yet modern theology DENIES IT.
1Jn 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
1Jn 5:18 We know that
whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
Is John contradicting himself here?
1Jn 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
NO HE IS NOT!
1Jn 1:8 is CLEARLY in the context of HOW to walk in the light.
1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1Jn 1:6
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But
if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jn 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from
all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Jesus saves people FROM their sin. He does not save people IN ther sin. There is no salvation IN sin.
Saints are not sinners.
