I sometimes hear witty
though harmless jokes about the Bible and Jesus, I cannot help but laugh as long as they are not really offensive. I hope this is ok because God gave us our sense of humour after all?
There is no humour in the Bible of course but must we be serious all the time? I am a committed Christian who loves the Lord but I feel laughter has a place in a healthy life. I do laugh about all sorts of things when maybe I ought not to. God knows my heart and I hope He understands!

Didn't we already do this?

Okay, we'll do it again...

As a Christian I follow the example of Christ. He definitely had a sense of humor. Two of his disciples wanted to call down fire on some hecklers, and later he called them the sons of thunder.

That talking donkey in the book of Numbers was amusing too.

Interesting, I never heard of that before.

Maybe you don't remember it, but I swear you've done this thread before and I cited that example before.

Of course I could always be wrong. Maybe it was somebody else.

I initially wanted to comment about the account the angel of the Lord's comment to Manoah striking me as funny, but I didn't know why exactly why and so wasn't sure whether it actually should be considered funny... so I left there and went off to another thread to comment. Then, in formulating that commentary, it came to me as to why it did. Manoah struck me as a bit dense and I may have gotten that impression from the angel of the Lord's comment, "Why do you ask my name, seeing it is beyond comprehension?" which, crudely translates, and I do not mean to imply that God comes anywhere near the crudeness of the character of my expression but, it struck me as saying, "you are quite dense, aren't you?"

*Lynx sneaks off to report a LOT of people to the DRD, the Department of Redundancy Department.

They pay me in screen time - they give me lots of deja views.

It's just I wonder sometimes what is ok to laugh at. When people make Jesus jokes I find I am all right unless they go over a certain line. Insults to our Lord are not amusing, using His name as a swearword is not acceptable.
It is about where to draw that line.

In other religions, no joke is tolerated against their Gods or prophets and is in fact dangerous. I think Christians tolerate quite a lot really, in comparison.

Eh... Depends on what who means by tolerance.

We're not rioting in the street or cutting people's heads off. How would that help anybody? But I don't laugh at those jokes.

Those jokes are certainly on the rise though. It's getting more and more popular to make fun of Christianity.

I cannot judge others for what they do, but I never look for humor about our Savior, His Father, nor His Spirit. They are ours too.

Of late I have prayed and been concentrating on how important it is for us to belong only to our Father in Jesus Yeshua. That is even to get to the point where we do not own ourselves, for our Father is the only One Who truly owns anything. Being owned by Him puts us in the most secure position we could ever hope for. I love His being owner fo me for all eternity. Praise God, He is worthy not we.!
