When scripture says "hills" it is talking of a place of worship, and I love that about this psalm, but when I am in the mountains, I think of God and this psalm 121.

[SUP]1 [/SUP]I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

[SUP]7 [/SUP]The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
[SUP]8 [/SUP]the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

It flows like poetic music to my heart and mind.
I love the Word. *sweet sigh* :)

There is also a Metrical Psalms version of these lovely words.

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 150
All those instruments! :)

Blessings.

Here's an interesting puzzle: Let us suppose Psalm 2 is a discussion among God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Read it and decide who said what. This isn't to start a big discussion on the Trinity but just something kinda fun to stretch one's mind. ( I'm interested in comparing how others would attribute which statements to who) Have fun,:).

The doctrine of the Trinity is developed in all its fullness in the New Testament. But there are strong indications of it in the Old Testament also, even though it is not as fully developed. BB Warfield said of the doctrine of the Trinity in the Old Testament, that it is like objects in a darkened room, which emerge and turn out to have been there all the time, as the light of the New Testament is shed upon them.
So, too, with Psalm 2; it needs to be read in the light of the New Testament.

Very Messianic.

Grammatically, I would say Christ speaks all of it, and quotes the Father in vv.6-9.

So much of the Psalms and the Old Testament is clearly Messianic in character!

I came up with God vs 1,6 and 10. the Holy Spirit vs 2-5,11 and 12, Jesus vs 7-9. I thought it might be about Armaggedon. Thank you for your reply and God bless us all! (and He does)

Interesting...

And another thing seen is that the nations in general are against the Lord and His anointed.

I love the book of Psalms and have too many verses I love. So, don't know which one to begin with. The first Psalm I memorized and recited in Sunday school was Ps. 23:1-6, then, Ps. 139:1-24, and then, Ps. 121:1-, so on and so forth. I love all of them.

The book of Psalm is very uplifting for me personally and I love reading it.
PS : Ms sanglina: So how many Psalms do you think you have memorized?

It's great to be able to bring to mind relevant verses.

Blessings.

Psams 37:9-11

9-For evil men will be done away with,
But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth.

10-Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more;
You will look at where they were,
And they will not be there.

11-But the meek will possess the earth,
And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

'Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth'.

And then I like Ps 32, 62, 63.
The words of Anne Griffiths come to mind:

'O may these hallowed pages be
My ever dear delight!
And still new beauties may see,
And still increasing light!'

Blessings.

Another portion of my favorite Scripture.
Yes, Psalms and the words which the Lord Jesus pronounced in the Beatitudes express the deeper, spiritual character underpinnings of those who follow the Lord by His grace.

Blessings.
