indeed. i thought i was well hydrated since i drink water all day long. i usually just walk (3 mph), but 3 times, i jogged at 4 mph as much as my legs could take lol. i'll be more careful lol :D
Yes, definitely keep a water bottle with you while jogging or walking. Not sure how you'd carry it while jogging unless on a treadmill. I always go through almost my entire water bottle in just 30 minutes of jogging and it holds almost a quart, but I'm a big guy lol.

I did some actual situps just now. First time I've attempted any in a few years! I only did 10 because I don't want my abs to cramp up.. it hurts like hell when they do. They were easy though! If I didnt have to worry about them cramping I'm sure I could have done at least 20. :D

And these were not half situps. These were the same as the military does them.. arms folded over chest and touch your elbows/arms to your knees. I anchored my feet under a set of drawers.

I almost did a 275lb skull crusher, on accident.

Good thing I had my safety pins set.

I was doing bench press and pushed it over my balance point too fast. Then I tried to bring it back. But that was a mistake. It hurt my shoulders and elbows. So I let it go.

I think I let it go before I really hurt myself. It just put stress on stuff that is not used to that much stress. And probably stretched some stuff that wasn't used to that kind of stretching.

But I'm constantly stretching my shoulders, chest and arms so that this kind of thing won't be debilitating. Like it was last year....

The one thing I don't want to do with less than 2 weeks till the powerlifting meet is hurt myself...

Good thing you didn't hurt yourself, Grandpa. Strange thing is that yesterday something very similar happened to me while on the incline bench press (I only ever do incline). I felt pain in my shoulders on like the 6th rep on the first set and I just did 2 sets of 12 reps with the same weight a few days ago. I stopped immediately of course. Still got a pump out of it lol.

I did good today.

Got back after the bench press and incline press. No pain (or really minor) in my shoulders and elbows.

I'm really happy about that.

That accidental skull crusher was on thursday, I think.

Tomorrow is squats. I'll try for a heavy triple. Heavy for me. Probably just some girl in China's warm up....

I finally found a new workout program. I get bored doing the same thing, so I really needed to change things up. I'm also trying to hit close to 4k calories on workout days, which is tough for me. It takes a lot for me to eat a lot and doing it as clean as possible and getting in the necessary protein, etc. is a bit of a challenge sometimes lol.

Anyway, last night's workout was:

Cuban Press 4x10
Side Lat. Raise 4x12
Standing Front Barbell Raise Over Head 4x12
Seated Bent-Over Rear Delt Raise 4x10
And then some abs and cardio.

Tonight I've got a back workout.

A lot of runners run with a special belt that has a side attachment for a water bottle. I bought one years ago, but I found it really annoying to run with. It's a good idea though if you are running in the heat or going for a longer run.

I was away from home when I did squats. I used a gym that the hotel gives a pass for while staying there.

But that gyms barbells don't have any center knurling and hardly any knurling on the outsides either.

The bar just felt unstable on my back and put more pressure on my wrists. I didn't do a triple with the heavy weight I was planning on, just a single.

Friday I'll do some deadlifts and then just rest until the meet next saturday.

The last four days I've been sanding, priming, painting, sanding again, then polishing the hood of my car. Complete exhaustion on all four days. That stuff just takes everything out of me. I was stiff, sore and exhausted the whole second day, taking aspirin and advil religiously. It came out really good though. Almost like a showroom finish. :) (this is the second time I've done it in the last couple years because the clearcoat from last time cracked very badly for some reason..no clearcoat this time!)

Here's the finished product if anyone wants to see it. There was a little bit of dust left in a couple spots from the polishing compound.
There's also a link to the 'before' video too in the description:

It looks real good zeroturbulence.

My son and I sanded and painted the hood of his truck flat black, so I know some of the effort you put into that.

They have live streaming USA Powerlifting Nationals on youtube this weekend starting yesterday.

They have men and women from age 16 on up and weighing 43kg up to 105kg.

The event is in Atlanta, Georgia and there are over 1,000 lifters.

TeamRohr is the youtube channel for anyone interested...

Garret Blevins, a pastor from California, was in the 105kg mens main event on saturday in the USAPL Nationals.

He took 2nd place overall and set a record for the squat.

His squat was 705lbs.
Bench was 485 lbs. He went for 501 but didn't quite get it.
Deadlift was 722 lbs.

I watched Garret Blevins a few times on youtube giving tips and technique for squatting, benching and deadlifting. I didn't know he was a pastor until tonight.

Pretty awesome. Now he just needs to work a little on the deadlift and get that 501 bench. So he can take first place next year.

Good job Garret Blevins.

That's the same weight division I'm in. All I have to do is add about 250lbs to each of my lifts and I'm in there...

I signed up for the gym. This is it.

I wasn't able to work out the last few months because I started part time school and had to adjust.

This Friday, will be my first trip to the gym. Any advise what for gym beginners? What to bring? How to stretch? I'm planning to use only the treadmill (at least for now).

When I was just running I would just stretch my legs by touching my toes and standing on one leg and pulling the other one up. Then I would do "hurdlers" where I would sit on the floor with one leg curled behind and one leg stretched and try to touch my toes on the leg that was stretched. Then change legs.

Then I was ready for some treadmill action. Sometimes I would stretch my achilles and calf if I would remember. I would get into an upright stiff legged sprinters position, is how I would describe it.

Then I would abandon all cardio and go lift heavy on the bench... lol just kidding

I haven't been to the gym for over a week since going out of town, however I've been extremely active....I'm looking forward to settling back into my schedule when I get back home.

My view during my hike this morning:
