If I could dance everyday, I would totally use that as my workout! (and yes...it takes a lot of energy to dance some of those old squares and such).
My wife and I go dancing sometimes and it is a workout! ;) We even danced in the cage once. lol

I decided to take a month off, it's been like 3 weeks. I needed it - to heal some injuries, get refreshed, etc. It's been good, but definitely ready to get back in the gym.

I am into fitness too. I don’t weightlift much at all but I do a lot of cardio. I spend a lot of my free time hiking through the mountains and trails of Colorado. Backpacking is a particular favorite of mine and it keeps you extremely fit.

If you go on a long trip (like up to a week) it’s almost impossible not to lose weight. There’s no fast food joint to cheat yourself and eat a quick meal. Your heart rate is elevated and the cool air causes calorie consumption to increase.

I also enjoy rock climbing and mountain biking, but I always found that I enjoy nature the most while hiking. It’s probably one of the only workouts that I do solely for fun. During the winter, I snow shoe and cross country ski.

I signed up for another powerlifting meet today.

Its on march 25th.

Bench and deadlift are going pretty good. But low bar squats are hurting my left arm. Especially the heavier weights and the more reps I do. So I am thinking of switching to high bar squats on high volume day. And then back to low bar on the lower volume higher weight days.

I am trying to break 300 on the bench and a 1300lb total. I feel pretty good about it right now. I'm close.

There was good weather today, so I decided to go running outdoors.

I usually prefer to run on a treadmill indoors while listening to music. I did run outside in a city but the hard pavements and the shock to my joints was not worth the hassle.

However, the weather being as lovely as it was, it was fantastic to spend it outside.

I did about 6.22 miles. I ran consistently for 2.58 miles and hiked on a trail around some gorges. Then I went back and did some push ups, an ab circuit and my usual flexibility stretches.

While outside I also did bench jumps and bench lunges.

I also spent the afternoon at a Museum of Art and walked 3 floors of exhibitions.

All in all, it was a very active day and I felt that my whole self was immersed in fitness - Mind, body and spirit.

The beauty of the place, the fresh air and the presence of God was the most wonderful part.

Recently, I have decided to go without dairy and added sugar to see how my body responds without it. I have also decided to cut back on processed food and stay away from takeouts (that I was supremely guilty of).

I have never ever been on a diet. What I do want to incorporate in my life is a lifestyle change. No deprivation.

During the summer of 2016, I was working out consistently for 5-6 days a week and I was seeing a major difference in my abs. I can't say I had a 6 pack, but I did have a lot of upper ab definition.

However, over the course of the year, being busy and a fan of Chinese food takeouts -I don't see those abs popping anymore.

They do say that abs are made in the gym and shown in the kitchen.

It's not my goal to have my body look a certain way but I would definitely like to see how I am at my fittest.

I wouldn't consider it a diet - diets never work. However what you are doing is eating healthy and that works every time.

Then there are those "re-feed" days which are lot's of fun. That's when you can run with chancer with all the ice cream you want...lol

I did high bar squats for my warmups and then switched to low bar for a 5rm. This helped my left arm significantly, but it still hurt some afterward.

I ordered some stuff from amazon to build a contraption onto the bar so I can still do low bar squats and hopefully take the stress off my elbows and shoulders.

Its weird that its only the left arm every time.

I'll be heading to the gym this morning. I will continue with circuit training.

Working on my six pack before I go on vacation.

I took a barre class and was pleasantly surprised by how difficult it was. At many of the moves, I could feel my muscles shaking.

The class started out with a lot of upper body arm toning exercises with low weights and high reps. We also used exercise balls that we could use to maintain our posture, the barre and resistance bands around the legs.

As someone with a background in dance and who has done extensive pilates, this was definitely fun and challenging. I also got in 2.46 miles today.

I plan to try TRX soon.

I use to lift weights once a week, every Friday. That was during a period of inactivity. I have since stopped that because I have other things that keep me really active during the week.

Like squats and deadlifts?
I use to deadlifts and squats a long time ago in High School and after High School for a while. But, during my weekly lift last year and the year before, I didn't do them because I didn't have a squat rack for the squats. I didn't do deadlifts because I've injured my back many times (not from deadlifts, in other ways). So, instead, I substituted other exercises for legs and lower back.

I learned yesterday that mopping a large floor really works the lower back muscles!

They do work of you use it as an opportunity to re-educate yourself and develop
healthy eating habits along the way. The problem is many people want a quick fix and that
kind of diet doesn't work.

I have actually been really bad about working out in the last two weeks because of how busy I have been.

That being said, I am back to my summer 2016 body and even a little less. My abs are back and popping but its just one of those "oh really" moments in life - when you don't try very hard to get something you want.

This is why I guess fitness isn't just about how your body appears.

It is a complete state of mind, body and spirit.

PS - I will be going for spinning and boxing/martial arts classes this weekend :)

I switched from 5x5's to 3x3's this month in preparation for the meet in March.

Every week has been a new PR for squats and bench. No PR's for deadlift. I increased 10lbs a week for squats and 5lbs a week for bench.

I've never done 3x3's. Next month is heavy singles. Hopefully this strategy works.
