Hey guys. A exciting (well to me it is exciting) new study shows that if you eat no later then 6pm and get a good nights sleep, and eat not earlier then 9am the next morning your testosterone and HGH levels improve above and beyond what they normally may have.

On another note, since we are talking diet and lifestyle, I know a lot of weight lifters and body builders are into eating a lot of food and especially animal protein.
I understand the reason why.

But I would be prudent on how I was doing it if you are. More so if your over around 40 years old.
Protein builds muscle, but it also grows tumors. There is something in the body process with protein that is called mTOR response.
Essentially what that is it that it signals the body to replicate increased cell growth. The problem with that is that it impairs the turn off and die off switch of cells and it is a factor in developing cancerous tumors.

I would try to limit my protein to around one quarter of your body weight in grams per day.
You won't grow as fast or as big, but you will still be plenty strong, and the weight you have will look bigger then if you had done otherwise, because your muscles will be denser, as opposed to that inflated balloon look.

Try egg yolks, and beans and nuts for your protein sources. They are much healthier then an animal product, be it fish, chicken, etc.
If your going to occasionally eat animal protein, which is not bad in moderation, something like about twice a week, then absolutely make sure it is grass fed and organic. No steroids, hormones or antibiotics.

I would also try and limit your intake of complex carbs too. Very unhealthy in the long term.
And no more then 2000 calories a day.

You will live longer and healthier and actually will all around be fitter and probably look just as good, if not better. You will certainly be more chiseled and ripped if you limit your grains and complex carbs.

Occasionally eat animal protein?

Its only a snack if there's no meat in it.

I do want to get more eggs and beans into my diet. Especially eggs.

I like to buy the cartons of egg whites....you can add it to EVERYTHING when you cook.

I took a month off, then said I'd go workout tomorrow for another month, so I took two months off lol. I'm back in the gym now though. My workouts have been pain free, so the time off was good. Between being busy and not going, my diet has been turrible lol. I need to get back to eating a little healthier and back into a routine.

I like to lift heavier weights,and do not like to get ripped,for it seems like the chance of getting an injury is more,I have more time for myself,and do not need to be at the gym as long,for I do not have to keep hitting the weights to tighten up,so I will go to the gym,but I take a lot of time off,for lifting heavier weights you can do that,and also I play it safe and not stress my body too much,and avoid any problems that might occur from taxing my body too much staying in the 5 reps and up,and avoiding 1 rep max,and also I do not like to get ripped,but lift heavier weights,because I am not trying to enter a beauty contest.

For the next 3 weeks I will be hitting my 1 rep max 3x a week. 1 day each for squat bench and deadlift. I did deadlift on sunday and today is bench. Thursday will be squat.

I usually do squat first then bench and then last deadlift. But sunday I worked out with a guy at work at his gym and he wanted to do deadlifts. It was fun. And he had a heavier deadlift than me. He also has a heavier squat and bench too.

For people that have a hard time disciplining themselves and getting to the gym, I'm looking at you BruceWayne and zeroturbulence, signing up for a powerlifting meet or maybe a crossfit meet if you are more into that would be a great way to set goals and keep you working out to achieve them. Or even a 5k or 10k if you are more into running.

They have lots of these types of things that they call 'competitions' or 'races' but they are really just you setting goals and trying to achieve them through exercise and discipline. They have one that I saw on t.v. that is like a big obstacle course with mud and lifting heavy stuff and running. It looked pretty fun.

To each their own. I wish you well in your fitness endeavors. I'll try to video the meet on March 25th and post it for anyone interested in some old guy lifting weights. And lifting more than you kids....

I went after a bench pr yesterday. Didn't get it.

But I did get a squat pr two days before that. So, gotta look at the bright side. At least I have strong legs...lol

Someone I know plays competitive tennis, and I've gone out twice now to play them. I haven't played in a long time, so I was sore for a few days after the first match, but it didn't take long for me to kind of get a little form back; I actually won tonight 7-6, 6-2 after they beat me rather easily the first time lol. It's fun, so I might try to do that once per week when I'm not at the gym.

I worked out yesterday (upper body) and I'm working out today (legs). Usually though, I work out during the week. It mostly depends on when I have time.

I was in another powerlifting meet over the weekend.

I didn't do as well at the meet as I did in training. But I learned a lot of things about meets and training and 'listening' to my body.
