None of you seem to know what following Jesus is.

You all seem to think its reading and learning and studying and thinking and being clever.

But none of that counts for anything.

Good morning, @PaulNew. I hope you've had time to rest and recover.

I agree that following Jesus isn't about trying to show off personal knowledge, even of the Bible (after all, God is the one who gives wisdom in the first place,) and that showing Godly love is the most important thing:

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 -- Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

However, God clearly tells us not to neglect our spiritual studies:

2 Timothy 2:15-17 -- Study to show yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like a cancer.

Blessings to you, Paul.

I hope that you will be able to spend some time in God's Word today.

(Please note this thread is just for fun and is not intended to be taken literally)
So lets say you have USD $1000000 in your bank account, what would you do with all that money ?
I'm not sure. I feel like I would have more freedom to do the things I want. Probably use some of it to eliminate some burdens, too.

I could see myself getting riskier with investing since I would have a large cushion to absorb the blow of potentially massive losses.

Overall, probably just keep doing what I'm doing now. I wouldn't quit my job or really change much else.

Well for me i would invest in it to get 10x as much, and then take 10 percent of it to myself to enjoy, and use the rest for things that Jesus would approve of, like feeding the poor, purchasing bibles to give to other countries, and building houses for the homless (if they accept them), etc.

being poor does not make you a better christian, a gold star as such. What if your poor but sin in other ways??
Being poor profits nothing.

Being love profits everything.

through strength of will we cannot fulfill the law.

but, by the Spirit of Christ, which God gave us, we can be Love.

The Spirit of Christ lays down its life for its friends.

The Spirit of Christ does not turn its back on the suffering of others.

And, how can the Spirit of Christ take for itself more than it needs, when others are suffering.

Be overjoyed that you exist. No. Be OVERJOYED that you exist, and then Love will naturally flow out of that.

I thought I would have been banned on here. I mean "beer and prostitutes."?!

Anyway, somehow or other, here I am again.

It stopped me in my tracks a bit the other day when you quoted a post i had made a few years ago about asking someone on here to marry me.

I am lonely. And when I have had some drinks my loneliness probably cries out for companionship. I remember making those posts. But, I am just a lonely man, and desperation for female company is a truth of my existence.

I drink to get through the day. I used to think that this would stand between me and Love.
But now I realize, God is only interested in our Love.
and, if right now, or tomorrow, He said "Paul, I want you to cease to exist so that others may live", I know I would happily agree.
But, isn't that the whole point of Him sending us Jesus - the we attain that spirit - the spirit which is love.
The spirit which lays down its life for others, which counts itself as nothing, which devotes its self to all and others.
We learn and practice that spirit because God showed us that spirit in Jesus.

Inasmuch as we want to be like Jesus, we can be like Him.
Being grateful that we exist at all, and overjoyed with food and somewhere to sleep.

Anyway,
I am probably talking too much because i am drinking again,
but I love you.
and I really, really, really, pray, God bless you.

sorry I dont drink (alcohol) so if I spent it on beer it would be a complete waste.

I like that book idea. Start your own literacy program.

I don't think God would have someone give up the Old Testament, since the Bible is the Word of God, and we are warned not to add or subtract anything from it. (Rev. 23:18)

In fact, the Bible says that if we take away from His words, He will take away from our place in the Book of Life.
That statement is for adding and subtracting to the “book of this prophecy (Revelations)”. I have a lot of working theories about what is going to go down in end times but if posting them will jeopardize my name in the Book of Life, I will gladly keep them to myself.

The verse in Revelation is the most oft-quoted, but there are other verses that tell us not to add or subtract from God's commands as well:

1. Deuteronomy 4:2 -- Do not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord God which I command you.

2. Deuteronomy 12:2 -- Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add or take away from it.

2. Psalm 30:6 -- Do not add to His words, or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.

I understand that passages such as this may be seen as context-specific, believed to only apply to the direct situation in which they are found, but I think the message that we are neither to add nor subtract to whatever God says to us is evident.

And I agree with you that if we are putting our own salvation on the line by speaking, silence is best.

To answer the OP, I would start a Christian ministry that taught men/boys how to be men. It would equip them for every situation. They would learn construction, self defence, leadership, psychology, computers, military training and most of all Scripture and how to apply it. This world needs men how God created them, not the weak minded, feeble bodied, psychologically castrated, fearful snowflakes society has groomed them to be.

I love this idea. Boys need a safe place to exert their testosterone and learn to be men instead of sitting on their rears playing video games.
