hmm...

From a Seventh-day Adventist Tract:

“Christ says to every man in this world what He said to the rich young ruler: ‘If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments,’ Matthew 19:17. In other words, the standard for admission into heaven is a character built according to the ten specification, or commandments, of God's Law... The master builder will stand with you and in you, and see to it personally that your life comes up to the requirements of God's Law (Charles Everson, Saved by Grace, pp. 45-46).

From a Seventh-day Adventist Correspondence course:

“Do you want to be a Christian?... The steps to Christ are few and plain and easy to understand, and we will turn to God’s Guidebook now for information. ... Believe; that’s the first step toward becoming a Christian. ... the second step is repentance ... repentance is simply being sorry for our sins and putting them away ... the next step in becoming a Christian is confession ... real repentance and confession mean not only to stop sinning, but to do everything possible to make past wrongs right ... The next step is baptism, and the proof for that is found in Acts 2:38-39 ... Fifth, obedience through Christ in us ... So we have clearly outlined the steps that we need to take in 9 order to become a Christian: to believe in God, to repent of and to confess our sins, to be baptized, AND TO OBEY ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD. ... He may stumble and fall, but he gets up and presses forward again, determined to overcome by God’s enabling power. Such a fall is not counted against him when he repents and asks forgiveness and divine help to live the right life” (New Life Voice of Prophecy Guide, #12).

That does not sound like righteousness by faith alone, but salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works." :cautious:
Condemned by Galatians I might add........

Oh Foolish Galatians WHO has bewitched you, having begun in the spirit (faith) are you now made complete by works.....NOTE --->WHO has bewitched you........!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course. But our hearts need to be informed by God's Word, otherwise they can go in all sorts of different directions.
Of course. Mt 22:40 says the all the laws and the prophets depend on these two commandments, 'love our Lord God with all our hearts and to treat our neighbors as we treat our selves'. Jn 1:17 'The law came by Moses but grace and truth by Jesus Christ'. Are you going by the Law in your statements?

Talk about living a double life.. I cannot see how any born again Bible believing person could remain in the catholic church.. I could not stay there..

Oh and yeah i went to a nunnery primary school and a Marist brothers High school / College So i know all about those weird nuns .. The brothers where no so bad..
It says in the bible not to forsake assembling together. It also says to proclaim the gospel to all nations and peoples. That would be a hard thing to do if you put an entire denomination on ignore. Also, as I have stated previously many times, there is not a church or denomination that is perfect in their entire doctrine and practices so you could not stay there either. If so, then you are forsaking the assembling together. While I certainly do disagree with a lot of the Catholic doctrine I will say that during each mass they affirm the trinity, the divinity of Jesus, and that He died for the forgiveness of sin and rose again. I have been in many types of churches and that is the only denomination that I have observed that does this. Also very odd that most church denominations have set aside Sunday as the day of worship copying the tradition established by the Catholic church. Wonder what else was subtly copied and now practiced?

Seems there are a lot of people who believe that people who end up in the Lake of fire will be annihilated..

But the Bible declares::

Revelation 20: KJV
10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

So for a Bible believer the doctrine of annihilation cannot be an option..
It says that devil was cast into the lake of fire where the beast and false prophet are, it does not say in the verse you supplied that the people who are lost will be tossed into there too. If you are trying to prove a scriptural point at the very least supply a pertinent verse.

All the law and the prophets hang on those two commandments, I agree. If we love God with all our hearts, and our neighbors as ourselves, then we'll delight to do God's will, and His law will be in our hearts (Psalm 40:8). That's what the law is all about. The way I look at it is, we can love someone very much, but we need to know how they want to be loved. A big-hearted friend will gladly accept a gift of chocolate given in love, but if Friend #1 gently explains that she doesn't like chocolate, then Friend #2 would be sure to show love in a different way--with vanilla cupcakes or fruit instead. God's Ten Commandments explain how He wants us to show love to Him and others in the best way possible.

Anything added to the finished work of the Christ Jesus, is works.
Phil. 1:6 - being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ.

Who in their right mind even ponders that they are capable of
“Saving” themselves, much less continuing to be “good enough” to keep their selves in sinless perfection.

Anyone who deems themselves capable of adding anything to what Jesus did on the cross is an arrogant fool.

Uh...ok, just wondering..time goes by fast! I hope they having a merry christmas SDAS celebrate it dont they its not same as jws who dont.

I dont know many SDAs personally, so..dont have anyone to ask, but I have to say I have had shall I say questionable experiences with them, and the issue has either been sabbath keeping or eating pork, well I dont know what they do if Christmas falls on a Saturday and christmas ham is offered on the menu.
Actually, we had ham on Christmas. Interesting point about the official SDA position if Christmas falls on a Saturday but I do know that my wife, who is an SDA has always celebrated Christmas regardless of the day of the week. Regarding the eating of pork, the SDA does not believe at all that it is a sin but they do stress that the body is a temple of the Lord so it would be wise to make proper nutritional choices.

"Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. " Romans 3:31

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1-2

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2

next time pray before you eat and thank the lord for what you have to eat. Better to thank the lord for pork and ask Him to bless it then to eat healthy and not even thank him LOL

Matthew 15:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

I am sure none of the SDAs here consider themselves justified by keeping God's Commandments. I am not SDA but I agree with them on many things. We are saved by grace, a gift from God. Not by any obedience or works on our part. Once grace is applied, what we do to please God amounts to our works. Our works will decide our reward in the Kingdom. What about the law?

Rom. 7:12 "Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good."

So the law is still good and holy. What are we to teach about it?

Matt. 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

We are each doing what we thinks our Lord expects of us. The blind leading the blind? I think not.

That neither proved a law keeping salvation and or disproved what Paul was inspired to write in Galatians.....faith plus works of any sort to gain, keep, top off, finish salvation is a gospel of a DIFFERENT KIND with NO POWER to save, those who teach it are DOUBLE CURSED and those who believe it are fools and bewitched.....!

This is out of Context.....man is not imputed by the law anymore, that ended on the cross.....and why would you quote Matthews during the time Christ was in his earthly ministry, and the law was applicable? You have been freed from bondage of the law....as Paul said to the Galatians.....why would you want to go back? For if you live by the law, you will be judged by the law.....no man can be justified by the law....why condemn yourself?

What you can't understand is, like I pointed out, we are not justified by anything we do. We apply grace the same as you do. What we do after justification is where we differ. I am not worried about being judged by the law as you point out. What say you do what you think pleases the Lord, and I will do the same?
