Ridiculous warning labels

A couple of comments in another thread made me think of the fact that just about every product we buy anymore has some sort of warning label on it that someone with the barest amount of common sense should already know. Those labels are (in reality) there solely to protect the manufacturer from lawsuits since someone ignorant enough to not already know the information probably wouldn't read the label anyway.

Same with warning signs on microwaves that u shouldn't put baby or cats in it

Ignoring warning labels can sometimes have un-intended consequences.

I've always wondered why anyone would want to eat a tag . . .

If you remove the tag you may have to consult with an attorney. One will be appointed for you at no charge if you cannot afford to pay.

The sad thing is, I would bet that almost all of those warnings are the result of a lawsuit--and probably a successful one at that.

Henceforth, the "CAUTION! HOT! MAY CAUSE SEVERE BURNS!" on literally every disposable hot beverage cup served in America (due to the fact that a woman sued successfully McDonald's after ordering a yes, gasp, HOT coffee and burning herself with it.)

My brother and I were traveling several years ago and came across this sign (but without any writing), posted on a wire fence set up around a part of the sidewalk where they were tearing up the cement:



Although we knew these types of signs are designed to speak to people in any language, the one we saw was just the yellow triangle with the stick figure falling into a pit, and so we joked that this must be "The Universal Language Sign for 'DON'T FALL IN A BIG HOLE, STUPID!'"

The even worse thing is that by nature, I'm so doggone clumsy that if I ever tried reading and/or texting and walking at the same time, I'd probably be the first one to fall off that giant edge of the earth.

I understand the need for government mandated food allergy warning labels, but I think this is ridiculous

I am surprised that there is not a Surgeon General's waning on the label of each jar of Jiff or Skippy.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, in today's overtly intelligent society, I get the need for the label.

Me too. It will probably be mandated after someone with peanut allergies doesn't realize peanut butter is made from, uh, peanuts, eats it and dies or nearly dies. In the U.S. of course.

The one I love isn't a label, it's part of the commercials you see these days for different drugs n such.......

Part of the warning is.............. do not take (fill in the blank) if you are allergic to it or any of its contents.....

Hmm.......how does one KNOW if they are allergic to it UNLESS they have taken it and had an allergic reaction to it?


Another is................... "if you or a loved one has died from................"

Seriously?

Who'da thunk this would be a worry?

Testing. That's how you can know. My sister had a bad reaction to a certain medication. Turns out it was hereditary so us siblings had to be tested to see if we had the same issue.
Those who tested positive didn't have to take the medication to know.

Just in case someone wants to sue the peanut company for selling peanuts without telling them that peanuts contain peanuts.

Warning on baby stroller- remove baby before folding
On carpenter's electric drill - not intended for dental use
On a jet ski - never use flame or match to check fuel level
On dishwasher - do not allow children to play in dishwasher

The label should have read: "Contains real peanuts. Not suitable for people who can only consume fake peanuts."
