Believe is before saved. The whole of scripture supports this.
John 3v16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that (1) whoever believes in Him (2) should not perish but have everlasting life.

Because they are born of God

You keep believing and I’ll keep believing, how about that?

This incessant arguing is not spiritually healthy for anyone.
Agreed. But tell your mates not to mislead others.

I’m not sure you’re understanding them. I can say with certainty that Eternally Grateful and MailmanDan hold that those who are saved continue to believe. They stated it clearly in their posts. You misunderstood the “never thirst” thing. Did you refer to the post number I gave you where he clarified that?

@Chris1975. Please read this post explaining Eternally Grateful’s meaning regarding the never thirst quote. (Second paragraph)

What I told you in post 117993 was based on what Jesus said, whoever believes will never thirst

so either Jesus lied, or someone who comes to true living faith will continue to believe forever, Ie, they never had a wish washy belief, they had true faith

once again. Lie about what I said I will report you, this is your last warning,

ps, a believer already repented, you can not referent once you already repented.
He said someone who comes to living faith will believe forever

Lets look at that EXACT scripture according to the AMPLIFIED TRANSLATION

1 John 5 (AMP)
4 For [b]everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].

See. There is the answer.
Wrong again!
Just another horrendous translation that adds words to the text.

Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Romans 11:29
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Faith is a gift from God, and it's irrevocable.

Benedicamus, what you are red exxing is in agreement with Romans 4. So you disagree with Paul.
He maybe already banned, or soon will be. He is the Catholic that Hates Protestants, so he keeps Red X'ing ever protestant on the board without even reading the posts.

True belief = righteous living. Cannot be divorced from one another. Sanctification is part of the plan.
2 Thessalonians 2
13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

WRONG AGAIN, I told you SALVATION has nothing to do with our fleshy Sanctification, which spawns out AGAPE LOVE.

Oh my word.....I'm asking YOU. Do you believe in Continuing Belief? It's not politics.
In simple terms do you HAVE TO CONTINUE BELIEVING IN CHRIST TO OBTAIN SALVATION? Y/N

That is a TRICK QUESTION. I told you BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS WILL NEVER FALL AWAY from was GIVEN TO THEM BEFORE TIME BEGAIN.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Only followers (disciples) of Jesus who have NEVER been Born Again, can fall away.

1 John 2:19 (NKJV)
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

NO, WRONG AGAIN. Genuine Faith, happens the MOMENT YOU BELIEVE, which is when the Holy Spirit comes into your heart, and births your Human Spirit into Eternal LIFE. IT IS CALLED BORN AGAIN.

Titus 3:5-7 (HCSB)
5 He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

Romans 4:4-5 (NET)
4 Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Romans 11:6 (NASB)
6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Romans 11:29
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Faith is a gift from God, and it's irrevocable.
28From the standpoint of the gospel they (Israel) are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; 29for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. - Romans 11:28-29

Show me how this means you can never lose faith in God, and never lose salvation.

Then I will show you how it means Israel will one day be saved because of God's irrevocable promise to Abraham.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9 KJV)

The gift of God is SALVATION.

The link between us and God by which we are saved is our faith. Our works have no part in our salvation.

Remember, the goal of the narcissist is to satisfy their desperate need to always feel superior to you. They do that by always being right. Being right is more important to them than the truth. That's why, for example, in one argument a person will say believers never stop believing, then in the next argument, when it suits them, that person will say the believer is still saved even if he stops believing. The need is to be right, not search out the truth. Truth is the narcissist's kryptonite.

They will say whatever they need to say to be right. And they will do whatever they need to do to be right, which includes provoking you to respond in an uncivil manner so they can appear morally superior to you. If they can't win an argument on facts, they will attack you personally in order to provoke you to bad behavior. Anything to maintain the desperate need to feel superior to you.

I'm sharing this so some people here can recognize this about themselves and prepare themselves for the return of Jesus. And so the pages and pages of unjust treatment of others in this thread can finally come to an end. After all, as Chris1975 pointed out, that's what this is all about. Christianity isn't about having correct 'religious' doctrine. It's about having doctrine that changes who you are.

I think what you mean to say is our works have no part in our justification.

Works have no part in earning justification. But they do have to be present in a valid salvation experience, or else, you don't have the salvation experience you think have, and you are not prepared to meet Christ when he returns. Real saving faith is evidenced by the changed life. No changed life means no saving faith is present.

So what's the answer, try real hard to do works? Argue real hard that you don't need works to be saved when Jesus comes back? No.
The answer is to get born again.

We are saved and justified by the blood of the Lamb

Rom_3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom_5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

not by works

Rom_3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Rom_3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Our salvation and justification is entirely the gift of God in Jesus Christ

I agree in-as-much as we would expect to see a change in a persons life and demeanour as a result of their conversion, which is entirely of God.

The only thing we can do is to present ourselves before the throne of grace, a sinner.

The Amplified Bible translation is a well recognised translation that uses additional English words to bring out true meanings and various other nuances from the original Greek and Hebrew. It usually takes more English words to express what a single Greek word conveys. That is why it is so useful to be used in conjunction with a normally accepted and well respected translation.

Yet you know better.

You deny the very scripture posted above. We are saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved. Learn what this means.
