Keeping the Sabbath Holy is a must or any who understand and believe, however according to our Lord, no law without mercy is valid, so it is just fine to work on the Sabbath as long as you know it is the day given to us all as the Sabbath. Jesus said, my Father is working on the Sabbath, and so must I.

No commandment is intended to be a burdens. If your heart is right, our Father knows.

Well technically Saturday is the sabbath so if you really feel the need to observe it you would do it on that day. However, if you read Hebrew and Colossians you will understand that the Sabbath was a type and a shadow that was explained in a deeper way when Jesus Christ gave us rest from attempting to earn righteousness which can only come by faith in the finished work of the cross by Jesus Christ. The sabbath is a shadow, and the body or reality is Jesus Christ. Now any attempt to earn a right standing with God by observing a sabbath is not accepted by God as it is an attempt to be accepted on the merit of sabbath keeping. If you are to worship in Spirit and in Truth you worship God through Jesus Christ 24 hours a day, every day. But again, if your conscience is still bothering you and you feel you should observe the 7th day it is Saturday. So working on Sunday is working on the first day of the week and not the seventh.

Scientists are now saying that many are struggling with the 24 hour lifestyles we live by and that we need a time to rest physically and mentality which I find very interesting. Our mind and bodies can't take it full stop. I do find many things written in scripture are good for a healthy mind and body.

Resting is an interesting topic. What does it mean for you? One person calls rest getting out into the outdoors and hiking, which seems like alot of work to me. LOL Another person is full of ministry activity at church all day and calls it resting on the Sabbath. Not sure why. Another takes a nap. Now that's rest. :) When Hebrews discusses it, the author talks about resting from works to enter in to a rest that only Jesus can give. So in what context are we talking about rest?

My favorite thing to do is study of the bible and books that help me understand more about the bible and I never grow weary of this. Another person calls that work. It is my rest.

Keeping the Sabbath holy would include love. If you refuse to help someone because it is part of the job you have is not expressing love.

I would be careful not to as a law assign any day .The word rest is not time senititive. Its when men attach time to it as a sign of self edification that division comes. . It makes the word rest to no effect. It becomes a work we can do. false pride.

The rest is anytime we hear the gospel and do not harden our hearts. Then mixing faith we confess he is working with us to both will and empower us to make our load lighter . It can be on any day we can enter for as long as we do remain walking by faith .

Most bibles have destroyed the meaning of rest by adding the word week to replace the word rest (sabbath).

The Greek word for week was not established when it was originally inspired. That tells something about the paraphrasers and their prejudices.

Yes the rest in the privilege of time we can share the fast . Not having to do our own personal work. Sharing the gospel as a fast of both in word and deed . The word to do and to perform strengthened or yoked with Emanuel

John the Baptist having doubt sent for confirmation of the work of that gospel preached to the poor (spiritually bankrupt.) The fast spoken of in Isaiah 58 by which mankind can be heard on high.

Note... Green gospel metaphors.

Luke 7:22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

Isaiah 58: 6-9 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity

For the majority of people who still worship on the Sabbath, Sunday is not the Sabbath.............soooo

Now, IMO, for the Church today............."man was not created for the Sabbath, the Sabbath was created for man..."

We are not under the First Covenant, we are under the New Covenant...........

I am always amused by believers who criticize people working on Sundays, and they DO SO sitting in their favorite Restaurant, having Sunday Dinner. Hard to believe they do not see how silly their criticisms are, huh?

For me rest is finding real peace and contentment with GOD in Spirit. When I do, my soul is so full with so much love and so much peace and utter contentment, I just cannot really explain it and I've not come across anything like it in my life before.

Well have no fear for you can work on Sunday, and eat pork if you want, because it is spiritual now and not a physical covenant.

In the Old Testament it was a physical covenant with physical blessings, so they had many physical laws that had to do with this earth.

But in the New Testament it is a spiritual covenant, and love is the fulfilling of the law, and only the moral laws, laws of love abide.

Isa 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Isa 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

In the New Testament is a spiritual rest by the Holy Spirit, and not a physical day of rest, and that rest is everyday.

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

In the Old Testament it is a physical earth with a physical sabbath day, and physical rest.

Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jesus went away to prepare a new place for the saints, the New Jerusalem, which is a spiritual earth with a spiritual sabbath, and spiritual rest.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Jesus took the physical ordinances of Israel away for they were contrary to us for they had no bearing on spiritual salvation, so let no person judge you and say you have to keep the physical ordinances, which include the sabbath days, and meat.

For when a person receives the Holy Spirit the kingdom of God is within them, and they belong to that kingdom while on earth, so they are part of body of Christ, and the physical ordinances were only a shadow of things to come in the New Testament.

A person that has the Holy Spirit has that spiritual rest everyday so we do not have to physically rest on a certain day, and the Bible says do not let them judge you concerning the sabbath day to physically rest on that day.

In the Old Testament they could work on that day when it had to do with the needs of other people, but they could not work for their own profit.

1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

All meat is good in the New Testament.

According to scripture the Sabbath is on Saturday not Sunday. Based on your current work schedule you are all set in this regards. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.
