What language did the Egyptians speak?
Jews living in Egypt spoke Greek - Egypt was massively Hellenized. In fact, the everyday language of one of the largest city's in Egypt, Alexandria, was Greek; not Egyptian, which by the 1st century AD was essentially not the same language as the ancient Egyptians. Like Anglo Saxon England's Norman Invasion which brought French vocabulary and grammar to Old English, Hellenization essentially completely changed the Egyptian language - it now contained hundreds, if not thousands, of Greek words, Egyptian grammar was heavily influenced by Greek grammar, and the entire writing system changed to one based on Greek (this new form of Egyptian is still spoken today - we know it as Coptic). Jews living in the Diaspora tended to live in large cities, not out in the sticks. Much easier to remain as a community in a larger city.

I'm digressing a bit, but in short, Jews in Egypt, like many Egyptians themselves in larger cities, spoke Greek.

If you ever know history, then it's not really 'KJVO' that inflames the issue of bible versions. The revisionist of 1881 have a low view of the bible KJV and called KJV "perverse and corrupt", TR being "vile and villainous and reject the infallibility of the scripture." i guessed you should know about that.
Are you really trying to claim that KJV-onlyists DID NOT start this particular argument? Read the first page!

It's actually biblical. There are examples all throughout Scripture itself where the translation is better than the original.
It's time for you to provide evidence to support your claim. You can start with your meaning of "better" as used in this case.

Translations can be inspired by God.
What you consistently fail to grasp is that just because God CAN inspire a translation, and has done so in a few cases as recorded in Scripture, does not come anywhere close to supporting the fantasy that He HAS done so in the case of an entire translation of the Bible. Instead, you keep asserting a fallacy of equivocation.

Good point. I believe that many just hate King Jamesian English and want something that is easier for them to speed read. I am interested in NASB for different reasons, like the idea that maybe new scrolls and stuff have been incorporated in since 1611?:coffee:

Every time God translates something, the translation is always better. Here are some examples.

Saul's kingdom to David:
10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.

The translation of the believer:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Enoch's translation from earth to heaven:
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Satan was translated in Scripture? What verse?
Genesis
3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

Satan changed one word and the word of God was no longer the word of God. That should be a lesson to everyone on how important every single word is.

I don't read the word translation in this passage. I'll stick with the biblical examples.

Yep, and subtle at that...one word makes all the difference.

The reason I created this post was to know what are some favorite translations of other Christians ....not for KJV onlysists to proselytize.

What kind of Christian would I be if I didn't try to warn people about the bible issue. There should be no such thing as a "favorite translation", that's like saying Who's your favorite Jesus.

Amen.

1 Peter
1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1:24 For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

That isn't a valid comparison.

That's not a valid comparison. Many legitimate preachers and Bible scholars use other translations instead of the KJV.
