Do the math
100,000 schools share $40,000,000,000.
I did not understand where the 100,000 schools came from and then realized you weren't counting private schools! Police are not teachers. Security is not part of the Department of Education.

If the private schools are paying taxes, and their parents are taxpayers, why shouldn't the police protect them as well as everyone else's kids?

Most private schools are not these super wealthy schools for elites. They are catholic schools, charter schools, and other schools that service the average American.

since i never was in army or anything I wouldnt know what to do, in army, you all are armed anyway so its supposedly is even battlefield, whatever

but if some random crazy guy came and tried to shoot my children I would grap the biggest dictionary and throw it at him on the head if get close enough behind

OR fill up bucket of water and chuck it at him or use hose (though dont have high pressure one so. aybe that wouldnt work)

children instinct is to run and hide, but not sure how this guy would have pulled a gun, maybe weapon was concealed.

100,000 public schools. Let the private schools pay their own way.
I want security for kids and you want another after school program.
Sounds like a lift wing Democrat to me.

Good luck with that. Our building had 4 public schools and one charter. How exactly do you deny security to them? You are ignorant but are pushing your $40 billion agenda and slandering anyone who disagrees with you. Clearly you are following Maxine Waters and the Squad.

Not all us live in that cesspool called New York.
So do not judge our schools by that standard.
I said in the beginning there was enough waste to pay for security.
The $40,000,000,000 given to Ukraine is a perfect example.
Ignorant! Coming from a person that lives in a cesspool.

That's great. You want the country to pay $40 billion for all these schools and then you are going to call the cities where 65% of the country lives as "cesspools". You sound like Hillary Clinton, why not just call them deplorables?

It's as simple as this, we have Marxists trying to push their agenda in this country. Folks are just now waking up to it. Like a lobster in a pot, suddenly the heat has been turned up and people, the vast majority, do not want this in their schools, jobs, govt, country. And so they are standing up to fight it. Before, Obama tried to sneak these things in, but Biden is a puppet. They aren't going to risk another loss, they are going full throttle to push their agenda, and the other side is pushing back. That is why there is chaos. And yes, mental people on either side will be aroused by this, so yes, you have to deal with those people. But to say that anyone other than the shooter is responsible for the death of these children is just untrue. The blame fully lands on the one who pulled the gun. So far they have found no criminal past or any issues. Sometimes evil is evil and people need to understand that.

There may be some similarities.

1. People died in both events.

2. The police stood around and did nothing while people died in both events.

Now I get that point #2 is still a fluid discussion as to what exactly did happen. It may be that the tactical unit was in the building doing everything they needed to and all the cops outside were there to make sure you didn't add to the confusion by having parents running in there.

But then that leads to the third similarity

3. Both will be adjudicated in the court of public opinion.

There is stunning news. The gunman crashed the car at 11:28am. He was shooting at the funeral home across the street and then 12 minutes later entered the school unobstructed.

If we had an active shooter in the neighborhood the school would have been locked down in what is known as "shelter in place". In this event we lock every door in the building, cover every window, and continue class. The administration also calls the police. You would expect them to arrive within 5 minutes.

It is stunning to me that 12 minutes later there is a door open in the school, no police are there, and this guy is able to enter a classroom and shoot it up. Not only do you cover the windows, turn off the lights, and lock the door. But once the shooter is in the building we get a different alarm letting us know we have a shooter in the building. Then you put all the desks up against the door. The doors in my school opened into the classroom so by putting 3-4 desks in front you could wedge them between the door and other immovable objects so no one is going to jam the door open.

We have been practicing these drills for years. I suspect the reason that it is so hard to get good information about what happened out is because there are some people, especially the principal, who were negligent in their job.

And what's worse, is law enforcement was on scene within 4 minutes, but took almost an hour to engage the shooter. I've seen tons of video of parents begging law enforcement to go in but they chose to wait until a Border Patrol tactical team arrived an hour later.

There's 2 questions that I have that I know will never be answered.

1: Why was the side door to a school unlocked? All of the school districts around here have all exterior doors locked during school hours with the exception of lunch and recess when kids are outside on the playground, and even then those doors that are nor sceured are manned by school staff. In order to gain access to the building you have to be buzzed in by school staff and even then the access to the rest of the building is through the office.

2: Where in the heck did an 18 year old get the money to purchase 2 AR-15 variants and a garbage load of ammo? The kid easily had $2500 to $3,000 worth of hardware between the two weapons, numerous 30 round magazines and a couple of hundred rounds of ammo.

I know the school is old, but there is so much new technology with door and lock access and fire/life safety and video survelliance that's relatively inexpensive and user friendly and easily installed in older buildings - it just makes me heartsick that all schools haven't adopted the simplest methods to install even the most minimal safeguards. We'd rather argue about guns. Or following police procedure or political pressure or whatever that kept these lawmen from storming the building. This keeps happening and NOTHING is done. With all the choices we have and all the money we have, it's got to be guns that's taken away from people who wouldn't dream of doing something like this. It's unbelievable how unthinking and shortsighted people have become.

Now there comes out video of police officers going into the school to rescue their own children while making others wait. And even arresting parents who snuck in to rescue their children when they got out of the building.

And the 40 minute wait had more to do with finding a key to the door than anything else...

This is bungling keystone cops at its worst.

Well he's a few differences, 1. a career criminal died vs innocent children 2. I don't want to hear about the lefts Saint Floyd vs innocent children. That's my opinion.

The second comment was the first question my husband asked me. I hadn't even thought about it. Of course hubby has a general idea of gun costs. Now they are saying one mother was handcuffed and when she was let go she jumped the fence somewhere else out of view and ran into the school, saving her two children. If this is true it's just beyond words. I'm not a parent but haven't stopped crying since I saw this happen, first for the children, now hearing the screams of parents, begging police to go and help their children. Gut wrenching.
