*Referring to the passage about lust and adultery, not specifically rape.*

The churches I've attended have always taught that thought=action to God, so that's what I was brought up with.
That is not true. Thoughts and imaginations can enter the mind at any time, but that does not mean that we have to entertain them. God gives us the ability through grace to cast these imaginations down that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God (2Cor 10:5). If we entertain them mentally, it won't be long before they enter into our emotions and turn into desires of the flesh and mind (Eph 2:3) to be executed by our human volition as the motions of sin (Rom 7:5). When we are drawn away into some form of lust that gets conceived, it brings forth sin and when the sin is finished it brings forth death (James 1:14,15). When those thoughts come against the knowledge of God you immediately define them and put them down. Any thought or imagination outside of God does not have to define who we are in Christ. To have the imagination or thought is not sin and does not have to identify us. Believers do not have to go around confessing every bad or wicked thought they have as sin. The thought is sin and it does come from a wicked heart, but all we have to do is acknowledge where comes from, receive grace and don't give it a place in our life. This is the law of the Spirit of life that makes us free from the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2).

Ive never heard anyone say that before. I think men and women will do what they want and the other person doesnt exactly have a say in the matter. Just ask them how is Grandma? That will end that.

I see the "right" or "wrong" of the topic of masturbation argued a lot.

I guess my train of thought is with the thoughts behind it. Because Jesus said that whoever looks... and lusts... commits sin... and such is the same with our thoughts--we are to keep our thought lives pure.

So, if you can masturbate to a pure thought (no lust, force, imagination, such as, being married to the person and you're not, etc. involved) I'd kind of be curious as to how that's done!

I mean, what would that leave to be turned on by? Masturbating to the thought of going to church?
Yep. This is why there seems to be no righteous sexual self-expression for the single Christian -- unless they're widowed, like I am. But, even that does not always help.

Being a single Christian man (and I have to imagine the same applies to women) with a bonafide libido sucks. All of the men's groups and prayer and fellowshipping doesn't fix it. I've been asking God to simply remove the desire -- the emotional and the physical.

As for your original question, I cannot say that someone telling you that you were in their sexual thoughts is the same as a man pinning you down in an alley and forcing himself physically upon you at gunpoint. However, men who have some understanding of boundaries and appropriateness would not say such a thing to you. They'd keep it to themselves, because they'd listen to their inner filter. Obviously the kind of men you were dealing with don't care about what is civil, what is appropriate, or about inner filters. Men like that assume every woman out there is as slutty and carnal as they are.

And, there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid that from time to time, other than to draw the hard and clear boundary once the line's been crossed.

You mean the sexual instinct? Certainly, but that's part of nature. How is it doing any harm?
Well, what you need to understand is that most of us here believe the Bible, since it is God's word. Jesus, the Creator of everything, including sex, told us that to have sinful thoughts was still sin. Why? Because both our actions and our hearts need to be holy.

Of course, there's a difference in consequences between a person's fantasies and their actions. Obviously the latter's can be much worse.

But, before God, they are the same in and of themselves.

Reading these old threads is an interesting trip for me.

This is from 2009, not long after I joined and was first writing threads.

The funny thing is that a part of me feels like I'm stepping outside of myself and reading these threads as if they're from a different person.

Has your way of thinking changed much in 13 years?

I'm finding myself asking, well, myself 😬, that question as I read along.

I find it amazing how some parts of my thinking seem like they're relatively recent, and then I find out that I had the same line of thinking 10 years ago. Hard to believe I've been a genius that long :D

Also seeing all these responses from people who are now banned...

Even then you could draw them out of the woodwork. :p

I was thinking that too, lol. It's almost eerie to see how many people who've answered these threads have gotten banned.

They say everyone has a talent... I guess mine is attracting trolls.

Hey now.

I didn't say that every now and then, I don't get lucky and attract a few QUALITY trolls from the bunch.

After all, like attracts like.

Of the 103 and counting various accusations I've had over the years (if I kept track, it might be an entire hobby in and of itself,) this reminded of the guy who once told me I was a troll and a just a guy posing as a woman. And of course, he was later banned. ]

What would that be, exactly?

A trans-poster?! :sneaky:

Thank you so much for the kind words, Charli.

It's so good to see you posting here more often again!

I have always loved written communication, and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to use my primary hobby as a way to help people get to know each other, and hopefully make friends (or more!) Wink, wink! :D

Hmm...

I could vouch for your gender... But he could claim you got me to lie for you, or even that I am you on a different account.

You could post a picture or even an audio clip... But he could claim those were faked, edited or from somebody else.

Gee, an internet forum really is an ideal place for continuing to believe what you want to believe.

You've just added a new color to that wonderful addition to American culture, the LGBTQ$^"_+=&TE$T@CFG flag!

Actually, I have to admit, perhaps a little self-indulgently, that the people I get a kick out of most are the ones who explode onto the scene without knowing anything about anyone here or the general community, then try to take it over by storm.

Then they want to dictate to everyone else how to post, how to act, what subjects we can and cannot talk about as Christians -- but without ever adhering to their own rules. We've seen countless numbers of people like this over the years (and yeah, they often seem to wind up in the threads I've put up, lol.)

The most ironic thing is that a good number of people who do this -- drumroll -- wind up getting banned themselves, and often fairly quickly.

Granted, when I first joined this site, I was a much more depressed and angry person (even more so than I am now!) so in many ways, it's only due to the grace of the mods who were willing to give me a chance that I'm still here.

One of my other favorite accusations have been the times when people have told me I'm running a clique. It's so ironic to me because wherever I go and whatever happens in my life, I'm just the same nerdy gal I've always been. Certainly not some groupie ringleader or mastermind, lol.

I think the thing they don't realize is that if you stay on a site for 13 years -- all under the same name, as we have many long-timers who have changed names multiple times, which is fine, but just not for me -- spend all the time one would devote to a regular hobby (like watching TV) to writing and getting to know people instead...

Well, the chances are pretty high that you're just going to get to know quite a few people. It's like seeing someone with a business and assuming they have it made -- the outside observer doesn't see all the work that goes into it.

And even if I DID change my username, Everyone Would Know Who It Was the First Time I Put Up a Thread.

Now THAT'S an interesting question.

What color would appropriately represent People Who Identify as Trolls on a flag?

You'd have to identify as a troll without being a real troll to qualify.

Hmm... That sounds familiar. Where have I heard that before? :p

Are you questioning the Validity of My Trollishness?!?

How dare you!

I FEEL like a troll, therefore, I MUST BE A TROLL. (Look at my big hairy feet and everything.)

(Right? I mean, isn't that how things work nowadays?):devilish::sneaky::ROFL:

No, not troll specifically. I was thinking of somebody I know who claims to identify as something she is not. But the definition of what that something is has long been a topic of contention on the internet-at-large, so she can weasel her way into defining herself as this anyway.

Oh never mind. Hush Lynx. =^.^=
