Well… to be honest, I wish both of us could stay home to be with the baby. So if someone wants to support us, I greatly appreciate it.:ROFL::ROFL:

The problem with women "working"...
Men cannot provide...
Most important is...
Yeah, but the reason for this...
You are making a huge assumption...
This is not an assumption. ...
High inflation has happened...
I get what you're saying, ...
However, if there is an increase...
I think women entering the workforce...
It would take so many hours of post writing to even begin to touch upon all of the issues, facets, and aspects of this...

However, at the very core-of-it-all is the fact that the idea of "doing things God's way" is being pushed aside and forgotten. And, what you see when you look at the world today is the display of the vivid evidence of what happens when you choose to ignore God and not do things His way.

Now - God knew that (for example) there would be women having to work to maintain life and health for themselves and their children - and, "allowance" was/is made for this by God. However, the fact that this is a reality does not do away with the importance, significance, and necessity of doing things God's way.

IF we (mankind) actually did things God's way, things like this would not be a reality.

If you disagree with this statement, then you are not looking at the whole picture.

A truly appropriate addressing of this issue must consider "backing up far enough" to see the whole forest and not just a few of the trees.

All-too-often people just like to look at their favorite tree and extoll what they think are the merits of what that tree brings to the table - while ignoring all of the other trees in the forest - not seeing the whole forest - not seeing the significance of what the "big picture" brings to the issue.

The things that have been mentioned in this discussion are actually [just] "on the surface" - the "real" solutions are based on the underlying truth. And, the reason these things are problematic for us is because we are not relying upon a proper understanding of that underlying truth.

People - on a society level - do not want to recognize, realize, accept, and admit the part they play in making the whole thing as messed up as it is - men do not - women do not. Yet - "as sure as day" - both men and women (historically) "have [had] their part" in it.

The base-level reality of doing things God's way is the fact of 'This is the way God wants it done.' - which we "have a problem with" - because, we have the "natural proclivity" to want to do things our way instead of God's way.

For us as Christians, the goal is to do things God's way as much as is humanly possible - with God's help, of course.

For us to do that, we need to understand what that is. The Bible tells us what it is. We must accept it and align ourselves with it if we want the proper result.

We have to look at it from a/an:

~ 'individual'-level perspective
~ 'church'-level perspective
~ 'society'-level perspective

We always have to keep the "big picture" in mind, or we will lose the proper perspective and not arrive at the proper answer/solution.

There is really only one proper answer/solution - and, it is based on "doing things God's way" - period.

Why? Because, God said that is the way He wants it...

We have to trust that God knows what He is doing and do things according to the 'recipe' that He gave us to the best of our ability.

Also, a marriage is a contract, and a husband/father shouldn't just be able to opt out by running away. That's a justice issue.
A marriage is a covenant and not a contract. ;)

The issue is sin - against a vow made in the witness of God.

The promise is made to the spouse - but, the vow is made to God.

And, that 1000+ post pandora's-box-opening discussion should probably be in its own thread... :)

All this should have been in its own thread.

My goodness but this thread has gone waaaaay out in left field.

Or, perhaps, in this case - right field... ;) :D
Everyone knows the kids out in right field can't catch. We had some doggone good catchers in this thread.

Who said that they went anywhere? They will probably be back tomorrow.

Who said that this thread would never get back on track? Hopefully, that will happen tomorrow as well.

The quip that I made - which was partially intended to be humorous - was about the thread discussion.

Then, you come back with subtle personal insult - which told more about you than you may even realize.

Thank you for making such an overt display of your cliquish/snobbish attitude/disposition for all to see.

What in the world are you on about?

My last comment was extending the joke a bit. Where was the insult?

Okay I've read over both these posts multiple times. I even went back a couple of comments to get a running start, hoping for some context I missed.

I got nothing. I'm stumped here.

Whatever insult you saw, I didn't mean any insult and I'm very confused.

Okay, a friend in chat shed a bit of light on this.

Quote:

FRIEND: To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure how to take your comment about there being a lot of catchers either. I might have misunderstood, but I also took it as a dig at people who have alternative ideas and grab on to any chance to fly off with them quickly.

FRIEND: So I could see why he took this personally. I think he basically saw it as you saying, this thread would have been fine if not for all the stupid people that had to go off catching right field tangents.

ME: I meant we got a lot of good catchers in that thread. Some people were pitching curveballs, spitballs and everything, but other people were fielding it deftly.

FRIEND: It might just be because I don't follow sports, but yeah, I could see how he took it offensively. I thought you were shading the people who went off into their own little "right fields."

But yeah, as I was saying... We can't set this in right field because we got too many good catchers in this game. Gotta be staged in left field.

Ha. Yes. Given that some do/did not understand basic economic theory, I wanted to put in words more easily understood. But I agree, a marriage is more a covenant than a contract (the latter being a more worldly explanation?) My understanding of the difference is that a covenant is more binding - in blood rather than in pen?

Usually its the wife who sacrifcies her life for her hsubands when it really ought to be the other way round. Wife bears the children and gives up her virginity, (the blood) and has to give up her own name, and often her family, home and livlihood to become her husbands possession.

Actually by that logic I should have got a wage increase back in 2020. LOTS of people stopped working then, and for a long time.

But I didn't.
I didn't stop working either. In fact, I was getting almost unlimited OT.

Don't forget the Proverbs 31 woman. She worked like an army of people. LOL

She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.
She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
I thought about her too.

So where is Proverbs31womanland located? For the life of me I couldn't find it on any map or in any Atlas.
Well right now she's 91 years old, sitting in a recliner that will raise up to make it easier to stand, watching The Price Is Right from the 80s.

She's my grandmother, and she lived it all her life.

That's awesome that you would speak so highly of your grandmother. I'm actually married and not looking. But I was hoping there was a place for unattached Christian men to go to find outstanding wives.
